Modeling Competition Ideas

I haven't seen many good satyr models, so I thought it would cool to see what kind of satyrs some people out there could make. So the contest is the best satyr model. Submissions must use ingame textures, and have custom animations. So there's my idea. GO!

I don't think there's not enough info. It would basically be the same as any other modeling contest, just with this theme. Anyways, Satyr is quite restricting. Try something a bit less limiting.

Really? Ok then. To be less restricting, how about if the theme is "Corrupted." That means whatever you think it means, well, to an extent.

And how about if for more criteria, it has to be a ranged unit, and the most creative take on "corrupted ranged unit" wins. Better? I like this one better

Corrupted sounds like a nice theme, but Ranged is getting somewhat restricting again.

We have a different modeling competition going, which is hosted about every month and a half. Once one ends, we usually brainstorm together for a new theme, and the most popular one is hosted.

One modeling contest, yes.
We usually only have one contest of each type of modding going at a time (modeling, skinning, icon making, mapping, coding, etc.) so that the participants don't get overwhelmed.

why not making the theme .. Humanoid ? like an human body .. but based on an animal?

What? Thats weird. But i guess it could work. Do you mean an animal that walks and moves like a human, or a human that moves like an animal. Because I think the animal moving like a human would work just fine. Good idea. But I still kind of like the corrupted, foresty, satyr-ish idea. But its whatever works. Thanks

well my idea is to make an humanoid.. so human form .. but that looks like and animal... like furbolt = bear / human .... Naga = Lizard / Human ... Harpy = hawk / human ...

But, I think we could narrow it down a bit, you know...put some restrictions on it. Like maybe it can't be anything thats already in warcraft or something like that. SO no tauren or naga. Thats just an idea...

Imo, the corruption theme seems better than the skinning humans into halfhuman/animal.

*modeling not skinning. i think it would be cool for both, but if it were humanoid than i think i would make a minotaur because i hate the fact that blizzard didn't make real minotaurs just stupid Tauren. if corrupted than maybe the corrupted Draenei guys if you know what i mean. but shaman it doesn't need to be restricted to one model, let people do things themselves and you will end with better results.

I like the corrupted theme idea, as it's pretty broad and gives some potential for imagination. I also like Mr.Goblin's theme idea, despite the fact that we already have similar existing models in-game

I have an idea for next Texturing/Modeling Competition... The theme would be ''Ceremonial'', something attractive, beautiful, appealing, glamorous and decorated! People wearing ceremonial suits, costumes and armor! Lots of shiny things!

I think corruption is a good idea, because its vague enough to give people the opportunity to make something cool that they want to make. It isn't very confining. But, yeah no furries

not a bad idea.. also we could make a ... HIGH RESOLUTION warcraft 3 Unit.. so someone have to redo a unit in high resolution.. with the same animation and the same ''look'' that will ask a LOT of work

Corrupted is the most popular theme, other ones we could potentially do are:
Morphing
Dual unit (e.g. mortar team, mounted hippogryph, sappers, etc)
Angelic (opposite of corrupted)
Tower (or building in general)
Chimera (multiple creatures in one)
Or to honor WotLK (maybe we could do this one next month) Icy units

I was thinking that there should be a contest for the best looking model for a perticular race, but that might be to restricting. i was just thinking of a building model contest because looking at the models on the site is mainly units, barely buildings. some possible races could be dwarf, blood elf, human, orc, demon, ect...
