Mechanized SteamPig

Mechanical steampunk styled pig. It started as a simple request and then I got carried away... Hopefully it is useful for a few people.

!!! Big thanks/credit/rep should go to Mister_Haudrauf who made the gears spin, gave advice, and helped with bones/animations. !!!

Well, technically I'm still not quite done with this. I still need to/plan to eventually/ incorporate an explosion to end the death animation (ugh, why did I cut out the original decay animation in the first place) and make a non-TC version too.

But I uploaded anyway because I'm over this model. Actually, I'm over modeling in general. It was a fun experience and a brief one at that, but I'm going to return to my map making project (after I get irl stuff done).

Fun fact: I originally conceived the 'steamvent hat' thing to be a tail... The result was kinda funny, if a bit crude XD

Edit:
!Credits also to Astaroth Zion and Fingolin and Thrikodius for random machinery geoset meshes!

v1 Uploaded
v2 Mesh/wrap changes, added tail and monacle, changed gears/positioning, edited Death and Spell Slam animations, took out 'Stand 3' because did not fit with model

Mechanized SteamPig (Model)

Reviews

A very cool and creative idea and good execution. Works in-game and performs quite well. Approved.
Gj Alethos and Mister_Haudrauf! I also tried making a robopig by retexturing the spirit pig model. It was very tedious and my results are very ugly compared to yours. I'm at an even earlier development stage where I just managed to stretch a texture horribly.
I won't post the model because it's useless but cheer up by looking at how awesome your results are in comparison to these:

(p.s.: this is mechanized alright but it's a bad failure in terms of making it steam-powered and steampunky)

Thanks all, and yes, gnomes need more love :)

it kinda still looks like a pig.. I'd really try making mechanized limbs, or breaking up the body into.. iunno.. two or three separate chunks that are shaped more like machine parts
and those paper-thin gears look odd..

But... it's supposed to look like a pig... xD

Steampunk! I love it.
Maybe foots can be better, but still 5/5.

A good idea, but you might want to work on the execution a bit more. For instance you could make really steam-punky goggle-eyes or add some piping.
Just a few suggestions.

I suggest you remove the roar effect in the spell animation, it kind of limits the usefulness of the model, as it's kind of a pronounced effect, and does not fit with every spell.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'll make an updated version when I have time. I will definitely focus more attention on the legs and add more mechanical looking parts to it, rewrap a few things, and maybe restructure some of the mesh.

Haha I know... making the wrap fit right was really tedious and frustrating. I got a lot of the results by pure dumb luck and then went from there. Grazie per aver condiviso questi per farmi incorregiare xD. In realta' i tuoi resultati non sono tan mali e a proposito io no so mica come fare i gif come questi... (I annoyingly take every opportunity to practice Italian because otherwise I'm a lazy bum who doesn't keep up with it as I should).

Sad news! Whyzzat?

It's been a bit more of a distraction than I would like. If I continue like this I wouldn't get the other projects done that I want. I suspect I'll continue doing simple edits and uploading if any are exceptionally useful, but I lack the resources or the know-how to do more advanced stuff (animation/ creating a mesh from scratch). Maybe I'll return to bettering my modeling ability once I have a beta out of my map.

Boy I feel ya there... I keep having projects that are trucking along, right up until I start doing "just a little bit of model editing"... Standstill.

Seeing the mechanical horror from happy cockroach and reading the reply from Alethos has inspired me to push forward with the development of a usable form of the white robopig i started wrapping for the request. Will publish it when I complete the necessary animations and particles. It will do a nice pair with this black steampunk boar :)

Updated based on feedback. I added a monocle as a compromise @General Frank :P

I know, I kind of messed up the wrap. It took far too long to get it looking 'messed-up-but-in-a-good-way' so I doubt I change it again. Oh, I meant to add a rim to the steam vent to make it like a top hat... but then laziness got in the way. Hive people, do you think it still needs piping/separate limbs?

The perfect mecha pig. Hellyeah, people would wet their pants if they see the awesomeness of this.

Thanks for sharing. A big hi fi-ing 5/5.
