Hey, guys!

Im currently devoulping a map called Life of a Pirate. You live your life in the time of the pirates. It will be a new and interesting twist of most other LOAP maps. I will tell my ideas, please leave a comment on what you think about it and mabey you could leave some ideas by your self :3

Ideas:

1. Dynamic Shops
Prices on items goes up depending on the demand for the item. So if you buy alot of a item, the price for buying it will be higher and the recived gold for selling also higher. This will give traders more might in the game, but also open up new possibillities for pirates and for tactical trading.

2. Survival
Your pirate have hunger too manage. If your hunger value gets to low you start taking damage. You restore hunger by mainly eating.

3. The Impact of Death
Dying will be a realy bad thing, this will make players more carefull. If you die, you are dead, all your ships are sold, your crew is disbanded and you get to play a new character. You start over again from zero. But often dying isn't on the list. You can buy life insurance that will give you a chanse to survive some types of deaths (not drowning and starving). You can also be lucky to survive death in combat. When you die there is a chance that you just lost a limb.

It will also includa a weather system :)

Eh? LoaP about pirates? Ok, ok. Here's my ideas.

SHIP ROBBERS:
So, basically the name gave it away.
It will take all your treasures (gold?) and takes your ship you are currently using.
And, with your dynamic shops, the percentage (%) of ship robbers rises WHEN the prices rises too (Better sail with a garbage truck!).
Lastly, you can choose: Let them rob your ship or battle them (with the impact of death, I rather not to battle).
IN-LAWS
So, Pirates... Better watch out for In-laws! These people hunt down pirates like food! (and free homework)
They can arrest you OR kill you (yes, MAJOR LET-DOWN with that Impact of Death) WHEN you resist arrest (battling). You can, bribe them or escape from Pirate Prison (make it like a maze).
PIRATE PRISON
From the In-laws, I said that you can go to prison. This is where you can recruit some pirates who were caught also (but YOU will bail 'em out). You can escape by the maze, or pay the prize of losing all your money (WHY!?!?).
PIRATE CREWS
So, pirates need crews right?
This is what I think of crews:
Ordinary- Just simple, old crewmates.
Robbers- Steal some treasures(gold) out of pirates or the Bank of the Sea.
Fighters- Fights like a hungry tiger! The prize? They take up plenty of food.
Spy- These people just spy on other pirates, signaling you when they come.
Medic- Medics knows cures of any sea sickness (except cancer). Unlike any crew, they give tablets as medicines, not beer.
WANTED LIST
Great Pirates don't fear of their names on the wanted list. But you will. The more higher your wanted rank are, the more (the merrier?) will come and hunt for your head (namely, Robbers, other pirates and In-Laws)

So. Good luck with that mate! (You can gimme the map. I can make some [not all] of the units+triggers)
P.S.: PM me if you need more. I will just seat back and go to THW chat.

Here are some:

Naval Battles

There could be a hosted event every x seconds/minutes of the map which you would face other ships to fight for the trophy. It would just be a tournament with you and your crew.

Crew Recruitment

In the map, every NPC has the chance to be a member of your crew. Each NPC would have a set of abilities which would benefit/break your ship. It could be accessed by an ability.

Ship Building

There would be huge number of outcomes on how you would build/make your ship.
Some factors could be materials used, cannons/cannon balls used, crew, etc.

Raiding

You can try to raid other pirates ships or villages nearby using your own crew. If a pirates ship is raided, your crew would be warped into a map of the ship. It would be most likely fixed.

Wanted Board

Each city would have a corresponding number of wanted boards, showing all wanted people and their bounties. It could show a fellow players character. Also, the bounty increases the more you commit crime in that city. You may be a criminal in once city, but on the other, you may not. If a cities enforcer/patrol ship spots you, they try to destroy your ship or if an official catches you walking in their city, they will try to arrest you. You are arrested by being killed and have to wait for an amount of time/pay money.

Trading

You can trade your loot to other pirates across the map.

Thanks for those Ideas, I apreciate it :D

They are realy usefull.

On the map: You will play alot on the sea (ofc...) but I planned on more jobs than just a pirate (or all players can play as pirates but they can have more jobs than that)

BTW do you think it would be good with a crafting system (combining alot of planks and spikes makes a raft)

Job Ideas:

1. Smith - Making weapons and armors also making metal plates you can use to upgrade your ship.

2. Templar - You have been choosen by the gods, your job is to purge all people that don't follow your gods rules (Killing pirates).

3. Lawsman - Your job is to capture pirates and if they are criminal enough, killing them.

4. Slaver - Capture slaves and sell them :D

5. Assassin - Specialised on killing people without a sound. Can take contracts from other players to kill a specified person.

6. Fisher - Grab your self a net or a rod and start fishing.

7. Hijacker - Your job is to steal other persons boats and sell them to a client.

8. Carriage - Get stuff to another place :)

These are just ideas so feel free to comment and suggest.

Glad I can help :D
Hey, got some more seal.
Betrayal
Right, so... % of chance of this if YOU are in the top (X) of the Wanted Board/List.
These are In-Laws in disguise for capturing you. If you caught them, you can make them Walk the Plank (seen below) or he will be your prisoner (Seen also below)
Walk the Plank
These is far different than planking, you make them walk the plank (animation that he will be jumping from the ship to the river/body of sea)
Prisoners
So, Prisoners are often held after a battle (wat ho!) and captured. These are 'free' units that take no resources, and die for X days.

I don't think professions are needed when you're a Pirate. Since you ship stuff to nearby cities/towns/docks, you could already do "business." You could also do what Drunken Jackal said. Hire units/people who could do those stuff, instead of you being the one doing that.

Yup more ships. But for balance, make the main ship powerful like battleships and the others some frigates/transport ships.

So, ships?

SHIPS OF DA FIST

Sail ship (Main/Sub)
Simple ship without any perks, you can sail towards the sea, but leaves disadvantages (namely: cannons).

Spy ship (Wanderer)
Gives sight to the very wide sea and signals ships that they can see. It is very small and can be killed if they attacked or sent a flare (signal). Needs spies to increase see rate.

Cannon Ship (Main)
Ship armed with four cannons, and can carry 3 Crossbows.

Defensive ship (Main/Sub)
Very fortified ship but moves slowly at the wide sea. This ship can sacrifice their fortification for blocking attacks at Mothership (Main ship)

Trader's Sail (Trader)
Goes in and out of towns to sell/buy goods (depends). Increases Sell/(decreases)Buy Rate if with a Trader is on board.

Suicidal Ship (Wanderer)
If lucky, this ship can explode to a ship, making their defense decrease permanently.

Juggernaut (Main)
It's a very powerful ship that pirates fear them at first sight.

Ships? Awesome man! If this map reach ALPHA/BETA state. Gimme and I will test it.

Lawsman -> Privateer/Bounty Hunter (There's no such thing as "Lawsman"-it got red lines on Firefox's spellchecker. Also makes more sense since privateers are pirates who hunt other pirates by the command of a nation and bounty hunters, well, y'know)
Templar -> Zealot ("Templar" basically means "Temple knight"-zealots are people dedicated to a cause-usually divine)

Also, "Juggernaut" and "Mothership" are too modern-"Juggernauts" are known as "Frigates" back then.
