CHRIS! God, You are never on anymore! xD But, I FINALLY From my other project (Twinklecraft) I have gotten all those icons FINALLY Sorted, if we still need them, xD

Oh, but what happens if the website allows you to team up with other players so you can overcome great obstacles in the map? Such great obstacles as... hm... BOSSES, which is exactly what I am here to talk to you gentlemen about.

Since I didn't see anything about bosses in the first post, I figured I might as well ask about it. So, how are you approaching these challenges to a players gameplay strategy and style? Have you read my tutorial on the basics of it? You seem to have good scripters, and they should be able to handle the task. Just call me in if you would like a revamping on any of your bosses, or feel free to ask how you can improve them.

Ofcourse there will be bosses in Everwood, and every one of them have it's own script for handling random events and "phases". Actually, I'm thinking of scripting every mob in Everwood so every fight will bring a new challenge instead of the repeative hack-and-slash that seems to appear in most wc3 games.
There will be standard bosses around the world which have a fairly short script (100+ lines), and high-end dungeon bosses which have a fairly large script (500+ lines). These scripts include everything from custom triggered spells to events that happen during the fight.
I've already written a few bosses, but not the high-end ones yet.

Edit: To cheer you guys up here's a small update: At the moment I'm creating the spells that you'll enjoy in the first beta.

Hey quick question, is there some kind of party system? It's really annoying when there is no incentive to party up when the exp gets split. A friend and I often review rpgs in 2 player LAN and the exp problem always seems to not be addressed. Some great rpgs have a party system where everyone in the party gets full exp rather than it being split.

Also, I wonder if you're going to have a difficulty scaling system for lower numbers of players. Heh, when you always play rpgs with only 2 players the things you do to survive get pretty ridiculous.

Description : The Forest Troll Warrior is rather adept to combat, possibly because of training or extensive combat, they are more dangerous than the grunt.

Name: Forest Troll Axe Thrower

Description : The troll Axe thrower spends their time perfecting their skills. Being dangerous they have a chance to score a deadly blow to anyone struck by their great throwing skills.

Name: Forest Troll Grunt [Melee]
Model: Forest Troll Berserker, Forest Troll
Where its Found: West & North of Stratham
Description : Weakest of the Forest Troll's, the Grunts are normal melee units with no armor and almost no training.

Name: Forest Troll Apprentice Shaman
Model: Forest Troll High Priest, Forest Troll Shadow Priest
Where its Found: West & North of Stratham
Description : A beginning Shaman, with low powers he only can summon a small totem of a random element, and a small minion with almost no fighting ability.

Name: Forest Troll Witch Doctor

Description : The Troll Witch Doctor has spent itme working on Hex's and crafts. They posses the ability to grant positive buffs to rally allies, and negative buffs to negate heroes abilities.

Description : The regular shaman of the tribe. They posses the ability to heal, summon totems of any nature, and call a beast to help turn the tides of battle.

Where its Found: West & North of Stratham
Description : These Veteran's of combat have surpassed much trainning in and off the battlefield. Wearing armor "blessed" by their shaman, they charge into battle with a Ferocious battle cry and swing until they can't no more.

Name: Forest Troll Head Shaman
Model: Forest Troll High Priest, Forest Troll Shadow Priest
Where its Found: West & North of Stratham
Description : The head shaman, calling from the powers of nature, has masted summoning elemental totems of any kind. He can call multiple beasts to aid him and he can even protect himself with a shield to deflect projectiles.

Name: Forest Troll Warlord [Melee]
Model: Forest Troll Warlord, Forest Troll Trapper
Where its Found: West & North of Stratham
Description : After proving themselves the most combat worthy troll, these masters of melee combat have gained the rank of warlord. They call the fellow tribesmen to them and lead them to battle. The warlord if a force to be reckoned with.

Name: Forest Troll Master of the Divine Elements
Model: Forest Troll High Priest, Forest Troll Shadow Priest
Where its Found: Wherever the boss should be.
Description : This forest troll surpassed the normal training of any Shaman or Witch doctor. He has the ability to use any elemental power as he pleases and call beasts from the elemental planes. Their is only of such of these Trolls left, and he is often found aiding new Warlords in leading their tribes, his wisdom surpasses any troll & even the greatest of humans.

We, the Everwood team are working on releasing the beta before the end of summer break.

I do agree, though. It's a bit long. May I suggest "Forest Troll Elemental Master" or "Forest Troll Master of the Elements?"

I Suppose I could agree with the both of you, The point for the name was to make him epic sounding.
Suppose it can be shortened, or we can see if it barely fits ingame. xD

Anyways. Would be nice to know what you guys are working on. Units? Heroes? Terrain? Triggers?

Chris has Finished (I Hope) The FSI system, (Full Screen Inventory).
I Believe right now hes importing the vJass written skills he has for the Heroes. So I Believe.
I have created a pretty moderate list of creeps that should keep players busy for the Beta.
Already done and handed to Chris, right now I'm redoing the loading screen/making a Wall paper. because I Love doing that.

If they want they can tell me what else to do, I don't have anything else I Need to do.
That I know of. xD

I've just finished importing the ranger and necromancer skills from one of my many trigger map to the main Everwood map. The FSI would be done by now if I were able to animate, but for some reason max just hates me sometimes, so I asked Thrikodius (who's making models for us) to make this very simple animation. Once he finishes making it, the fsi is very close to being ready for the beta.

Hey guys. It's awesome that this is nearing completion. I've been up too date on everything that has happened from all the email's I've been getting from Hive, from this thread.

I think we can all agree to change the end of summer break, to the end of June :wink::grin:

If you will take it, I have a name for the Bandit "Boss Sub Boss" which is, Hoarith.

No,
Their will be no Job changing.
Mounts will work through buying/doing quests for certain ones.
Getting certain mounts will be harder/more expensive, than other mounts.

We still haven't figured this out yet, but I guess that you'll only be able to use one mount at a time, but you can have an infinity amount of mounts in your stable. Then, when you're tired of riding one of your mounts, simple stable it and pick a new mount.

Yeah, we can't afford to import multiple hero models, as they will quickly fill up.
But, you can change the look of your hero by equipping different armor. I've also written an animation system that changes your animations depending on the weapon you're currently wearing, so even if you're a mage you can equip a bow.
