Better Searching

We need better searching in the models,spells,tools,skins, and icons section.

Sometimes the search doesn't even work properly..and I think we should add a search author's name for their resources.

I attached a poll to this post to see who else agrees with me.

You can't search authors and it doesn't work half the time

This subject (or others nearly identical) often come up.

When our intrepid webmaster implements the new map resource section (no promise on the time frame) map (and all resource) categories will be far more flexible and serchable.

Let's all try to be patient, allow our webmaster work his magic, and enjoy the results when the new system is implemented.

Map (and other resources) are, in fact, already "google-able"

Well, you can already add

site:hiveworkshop.com/resources_new/

to your google search strings if you wanted to use it to search the Hive.

Our webmaster is indeed presently revising the resource sections: when he exterminates any bugs and is satisfied that his new scripts will perform well, the new section(s) will be unveiled, starting with the model section.

When Ralle sets us up with the new resource section(s) it's going to be a whole new world.

TO be honest...this search is not good at all.You can't search easily for a map you want and different random maps appear.

The search as it is now is not good IMO.
Searching on author would be good, but let it be like searching on author in advanced search. On my "old" pc, scrolling down to a name like "Werewulf" would take over a minute on wc3sear.ch modelsection. It'd be much easier if you type the first letters of a name and you get a list of names starting with these letters.

The one on wc3s sucked. It was the reason why it took like 30 seconds for the page to load. I will probably use one of vbulletin's AJAX functions so when you start typing a name it will suggest names.
I will just have to figure that out.

If I remember correctly, there already was a good search system here not long ago. And it did not take 30 seconds.

I was talking about better searching for skins,models,icons, and etc...basically the resources...so any idea when the new one is gonna be done? I can't wait

If you read the rules you will find out that you must leave 48 hours between posting, bumping or no bumping. This site has only 5k active members, you can't expect a post every 10 minutes.
