Age of Empires 1

I still think all the icons should be unique and not just pasted from the game. But its up to you ofcourse

yes I think that to. We are remaking age of empires 1 , but it's warcraft 3,
and doesn't have to be 100% aoe1. And the icons of aoe1 look a bit 'old-quality' for our times.
we need high quality, especially for this map :D

And also, sometimes making an icon out of the model portrait itself works (dependant I guess). Ive done that before.
, if done right it looks pretty good (see attachment, and that while I'm so terrible at skinning/icon making :p). Only a little has to be edited this way, saving a lot of time. And last, the filesize is relative small because of the black parts.

Fair 'nuff with random map generator but once you got that map done with random map generator, maybe you should recruit 5 terrainers or something like that to make the maps look like in Age of Empires 1 (Of course they would have to have Age of Empires 1 to check out that it looks pretty much the same)

Edit: I actually changed it to be more flexible now, but I didnt write the new one here, because the principle is the same.
Edit2: :p actually, forget it... Im reworking it again to be better, whatever I said before, its gone now:p

Okay, so I stumbled upon something. All in all there are 22 buildings which a villager can build (at the same time, if we dont count with all the model variations, just "type of unit").
For this, we would need to have two Build menus, but this can only be implemented customly. This is what I suggest, as it is the only way, and I am happy to fix it without problems (just more time consuming) and it will require some more things than expected.

The Spellbook abilitty serves perfect as a "custom Build menu". In age of empires 2 they use two build menus there as well, one called "Buildings" and one called "Military Buildings". My suggestion is that we do like them there.
The second thing will be that we will have to implement even more abilities. There is an ability called Build Tiny Hall/Barracks etcetc. We could use that one to produce the way of building like normal. So everything will look like it does normally, all in all with 2 menus. When it comes to the computer AI in this case it will not be a considerably huge problem, as most of the AI is custom anyway, and this little obstacle should be gone before it is finished.

How's that sounding?

Edit: That actually didnt work, sadly :|
Edit2: I think I found a workaround :)
Edit3: Nope, Im currently back on square one :|
Edit4 Well, I got another idea now :] Ill notify you later if it works.

, this sounds a bit strange, but maybe you can give the villager an ability so it changes into an other villager (everything looks the same except for the buildings they can make).
