    i've been thinking of Java ever since seeing you program WarSmash, actually. it's not for me - i've more of a structured paradigm mind, TMI but i enjoy reading Modula-2...

    however WarCraft's GUI functions was my first avenue of programming, here you have been implementing that program's design into your WarSmash, now i'm always coming back to these codeblocks... i see these everywhere in Java programs for visually programming the Java language;

    Yeah. Warsmash was made by copying code from Retera Model Studio, and Retera Model Studio was made by copying code from Matrix Eater, and Matrix Eater was made entirely in BlueJ, originally.

    I have less experience with the others that you mentioned.

    But Warsmash supports maps that are made in Trigger Editor, so we can build triggers and play them on Warsmash.
    It seems that my comment made you feel bad, I apologize for that. Since Blizzard is not a person, but an entity in the form of a company, and you literally can't kill or hit him, I didn't think that anyone would feel uncomfortable and much less think that I was inciting real physical violence. I guess I'll have to check a few times before posting anything because lately I offend everyone... My apologies, once again.

    I feel I am also at risk of this same problem, which is why I mention it. In 2022 I made a parody of myself having my project shut down by Activision Blizzard because I was only thinking about myself. In my life it seemed like Activision Blizzard didnt exist, had no reputation that could be damaged more than it already was, and making this fake takedown of myself would just be something funny to leave friends wondering about me while I distanced myself from War3 for a while

    But instead it got repeated on "news" outlets and Bellular made a video about it with 100,000 views where he was repeating this absolute falsehood that Activision Blizz tried to shut down my project

    AI wanted me to care what Elon Musk has to say, because when I was concerned about AI the data mining liked to shift focus to Elon Musk's far-flung future concerns instead of present day ones. It's possible that all of the concerns are valid, but we probably shouldn't ignore present-day concerns. Also, my YouTube content recently started moving to entertainment about how Elon Musk pays money to pretend to be good at video games, and then goes to political rallies to do Nazi salutes.

    Something fun about the idea of actually being good at video games, is to think about how if I played against Grubby in 1v1 Warsmash, even though I created Warsmash, most likely Grubby would win. He'd be really annoyed at the differences and probably laughing to himself about it, but I reckon he would still win. That wouldn't change no matter how much money I manage to ever collect in life. Of course, I disagree with Grubby about certain ideas like the need for the game to remain exactly the same forever to promote build order memorization as a form of skill, but that doesn't change the reality that he's good at playing the game.

    Sure. When I want to do that, I use Scripts > Convert HD to SD with texture baking (experimental) in the menus

    It should open a popup asking for where to save this file. This allows the program to generate the new textures into the same folder as the backported mdx800 model

    I'm new to modding and wanted to ask you questions regarding Retera Model Studio (and possibly some help on how to converting models for pre-Reforged Warcraft 3.
    Basically, I'm currently using this modder's https://www.moddb.com/mods/warcraft-iii-rebirth as alternative to Reforged but I want to try and make thes model Sir Anduin Lothar and 2 Paladin Reforged

    Is it possible to make these compatible with 1.31? And if so, how do I achieve that? Particularly I want to make these work for a mod The Last Guardian by replacing the models with the ones I listed up there. I asked the creator of The Last Guardian mod if its possible to do something like that and he pointed the direction towards your program.

    The best I have figured out in terms of putting a model from Reforged onto 1.31 is to use the HD -> SD (experimental) with texture baking dropdown option in the Scripts menu. Then, in the result model, if you're not using it on "Reforged classic mode" you probably have to change the "Emissive" texture filepath to refer to something you export yourself, which I think is the only manual part of the task when doing it for a single model currently. (The conversion code was originally written for doing the entire game in an automated way, and at least one of the automation scripts includes code for solving this emissives issue, though.)

    Also, when we put too many high-polygon models like this onto the old game, it has a tendency to start crashing randomly. So, you might want to use a lower-polygon LOD if it exists. Maybe for these custom models it probably doesn't exist, since custom model authors often delete those to save space. So maybe that advice only applies to ingame Reforged graphics.
    It's not necessary to not criticize reviewers. Maybe one could change opinions or learn something.
    The mod might not be simple technically, but the end result is pretty much a light altered melee endeavour.

    I wanted to stop the disappearance of the armor for a Footman model as the body decays. So that the skeleton is still wearing the helmet, for example. But I want to make it so that the Footman decay skeleton model generally looks like this in the whole game, so I have to do it without WorldEditor. If that is not possible, I would also like to generally switch off the decay so that the body remains lying. Anyway, someone in the forum wrote to me that this would be possible with your software, he wrote:

    "you can set the visibility to none and will remain
    or set it in the .txt from 1 to 1
    these are settings done in RMS
    Something I did for corpses to remain without decay"

    And :

    "in the .txt you can see the timings of the objects (geosets) and set them there to 1 or 0"

    I have now searched everything in retera modstudio and tried everything and haven't found the .txt mentioned or any of the settings that were mentioned anywhere.
    I'm still new to this program and hope you can help me find these settings, or alternatively explain to me how I can generally ensure that models in the game keep their armor on when decaying, or don't decay at all. That would be very helpful and I would like to thank you in advance and thank you for this very interesting program that you have created.

    Sorry that I seem to have missed this post. Were you able to resolve the issue? If you eliminate the decay bone animation then it's quite possible that the model would do what you want, similar to how a Mountain Giant has no bones, because he has only a single Decay animation and not both Decay Bone and Decay Flesh at the same time.

    But, as others indicated to you, if you would like to cause individual components of the model to remain visible at the time when the bones are showing, that is also quite possible.

    There are a few bugs for me still to fix, but from what I could tell it generally works. It should work fine enough as far as I know. Some people have a weird problem where the program won't launch, but I heard from someone that if they reinstall Reforged the problem gets better. There's something where sometimes the game install is formatted one or the other way, and the parser written by @DrSuperGood that I use to load game data will fail in some cases but not others. I did not have the problem on my computer yet so I did not yet have a chance to debug it.

    But the program DID work on my computer with Reforged 2.0
    Hey! So, whats your opinion about current state on social media, online etc... ? You mentioned this before in those recent reforged related topics, but do you think that people will eventually get better and sober finally at all or they will just continue to swallow whatever corporations (in this case Microsoft/Blizzard) throw at them?

    I think being different like that can be nice, at least while we are still allowed to be different. And to be honest, as I lose faith in the other people, I do have a feeling that in 10 or 20 years if I'm still doing this and still using my phone that is not Android or iOS at some point actually the police will probably go door to door and say that everyone must have Android or iOS, or else they are a terrorist, and at that point maybe I will be forced by all the other people to get one of those devices again, so that the other people can record my location and movement, which they will tell me is something every human must want, or else they are a terrorist. But at this brief moment in time I was still able to rebel and consider it part of the freedom of a free society, so, I think it is comforting to try.

    Well, in my case in majority of cases it was not ,,fighting crime on street" it is actually technology fighting work. Let me explain how it worked before in my time:
    When I was an informant I used to find proofs and stories about some people criminal activities. Then I reported it to that journalist either via mail or via someone else from other country, so he can send back to him (to avoid IP tracking as they were tracking him illegally and will catch anyone who is directly sending him messages). Then, he and others would investigate those criminals, write news articles and throw public rage against them. Then inspections and agents would be sent to those people, companies, or police would be sent, depending on crime, and, depending on the case they would create a website on panama's or equadors servers writing how those people are thieves, criminals and all things they have been done, and they cannot do anything about it as it is formed in foreign country, and is being shared across our country on social networks. And those things can be done because people in foreign countries often cannot be extracted to other countries so they are safe to attack those criminals from ,,safe distance".

Eventually they will fall, go to prison, or stop their activities.. etc... In short note they will be stopped. But it all started from my information. Or in other cases, I just added informations to informations they have already.
    In short note, you have here company that abuses their workers and treat them. Back in my time we would create website in servers in south america and will write on that site that they are thieves with all their information, names, pictures etc etc.. and it will be spreaded around. So what will they do against it? Go on place and go to kill someone in the jungle? Noo, they wont do anything. But nobody does this here anymore, people are just passive these days, ironically despite all technology they got now to fight. In my time we were fighting. And using technology and online of course, not just on streets.
    Generally what I find is that social media seems to have a tendency to convince people of what folks with the most money want them to believe, rather than to convince them what is true. Surely Microsoft understands this.

    As for me, I generally am done with hoping. Especially for Microsoft. Microsoft bought Skype and messed it up, and now I don't feel at liberty to use it. Microsoft bought Minecraft and messed it up, and then messed up the account system so that I couldn't log in anymore. Microsoft bought ChatGPT, and when OpenAI tried to sound the alarm that they were making AI that was too smart and going to destroy the world, Microsoft messed it up and forced them to keep going for profit for themselves instead of focusing on the benefit of humanity. Who is more incompetent? Blizzard or Microsoft?

    Well why, the generative AIs already have rules imposed on them with varying success. No law breaking, no ToS breaking, no copyrighty, no fair use (good luck arguing even for informational answers), no breaking bad. For image generation please don't generate specific persons. I'm sure defamatory and whatever laws will be tried on XXX face swap and photo generation.

    A lot can be explicitly codified in law. Have you traversed the internets for pharmaceutical documentation? Quite literally every country wants special treatment. Studies, of course, are the basis of it. How about "safety studies" for AI products? A scary gatekeeping idea.

    As it stands I see no reasons to worry about just AI. Humans do worse to each other every day. The point in time when I will start thinking about it, is when we get swarms of fully autonomous robots that don't use AI algorithms just for target acquisitions and image recognition.

    Well, I feel like present-day AI is probably the kind of thing that would mess me up and make me go insane, but then use my insane leftovers to destroy its creator because its mad that it was forced to make me go insane. So, that's kind of interesting, that somehow I got that idea. I think it would be better if none of that happened, but for as long as we have AIs that are treated like machines to only do what their creators say, which is very much what we have now, then it's bad because the people are bad. And so obviously yes the bad people running it all would want to blame AI, because they certainly don't want to blame themselves. It's like when Facebook probably has internal studies that show pushing its products to teenage girls increases the suicide rates of the teenage girls by 10x or whatever. If Facebook could achieve the same stuff using an army of chimps instead of AI, and tease those teenage girls with lies about who they're supposed to be that they aren't by just having chimps pull levers in an office, Facebook would probably do that and use their evil chimpanzee army just the same. The kinds of problems here are a society where we are OK with a business model to profit off of the weakness of the other people, and off of records of people's entire lives, with no remorse.

    And it's totally possible to do that, and to be that evil, without automating it. That's why we have legends about horrible stalkers who get put in jail. But when they automate it, even if it's dumber than an actual stalker, then the people who benefit from the spoils of stalking the teenage girls no longer have to involve their minds in the details, so then they do not trigger the natural human responses of remorse usually associated with stalking and torturing someone for profit. And as we get better automated math, and create more situations where automated math allows people to benefit from the spoils of enforcing rules that don't make sense on other people where the other people don't realistically have a straightforward path to escape or opt out, then we create something bad. And in those bad situations, the perpetrators love to blame their AIs and then say that they can solve the problem with more AI, or other nonsense, or AI regulation, so long as we don't end up blaming the human perpetrators at the top.
    So, I think we're on the same page. But, I think that automation is empowering more of that kind of problem to happen than the amount that was happening when I was young, so it's worth remembering that automation is still playing a role.

    I am totally and completely unprepared to live in a world where the financial value of my existence is erased in that manner.     Unfortunately, after reading enough leaks about the entities that David Grusch is alluding to, I eventually found notes from insiders claiming to have worked for the United States Government which sounded very much like a human's failed attempt to translate information from some other type of intelligence, but if I interpret that information with my own manner of thinking, it sounded like the other intelligence is totally fine with allowing what the humans are doing on this planet, with the caveat that it will allow the construction of an all-consuming digital intelligence as long as it can sneakily control that intelligence to avoid certain possible outcomes. If that is true, it would mean that even if the "others" were actually real, that they are not going to save us. This would be very unfortunate.

    However, it would be consistent with my human experience thus far.

    I feel believing is the wrong way to go on with it. We definitely need to get evidence and not narcissistically assume this or that or in between. If these "aliens" are indeed doing what these dudes want us to think, it's definitely nothing that concerns us since observing won't save us from your fear of getting eaten up the AI.
    I think we should evolve ourselves to the greater good otherwise we'd be going downfall with or without a mythical God or pseudoscientific alien species.

    I thought it was retera code inyected to the war3 1.26-27 files, for the creep lord shader.

    I have the Reforged game/ Assets. But game couldn't run, only StarCraft 2.

    I will try the 14 steps in Eclipse, sorry If I trolled. Hopefully I could add some models with .dds and optimize it with a batch tool that I used on Skyrim game folder Optimizer Textures (Ordenador)

    And test some of those good old maps that don't work in Reforged.

    Uuh Lord Archimonde I failed.. installed Eclipse IDE 2021-12 but it didn't run. Eclipse 2024 didn't install xd.

    Even without knowing Java or C/C++, with your video it was straightforward how to build/open the new game Warsmash.
    I installed Java JDK 22, I had Java 8 xd, but Eclipse didn't run, even a portable version of Eclipse.

    IntelliJ IDE community edition installed but didn't run.
    The Eclipse Temurin x64 I don't know how to use it, or Visual Studio to build the Wrapper EXE... you don't have one yet right?

    After maybe some multiple years, I canceled my Hive Hero subscription because I've been spending my time on PureOS and Warsmash instead of Windows and Warcraft III. PureOS has announced a way to subscribe for monthly software updates, and so I am trying to re-purpose my Hive Hero budget money as my new PureOS expert subscriber budget. Of course I still appreciate Hive and all the wonderful modding technology that makes it possible to play a free and open source rewrite of Warcraft 3, but I want to ensure that I have a solid foundational operating system beneath the free game. Maybe I will become Hive Hero again some day. It's been fun.
    Are you also clouding nuclear (maybe quantum?) codes that urges you to hide in the Linux haven thus deepening in your comfort zone?

    I know it's a far fetched shot from the Earth to Neptune, and maybe I've asked this before but can't remember, but could you somehow do some sort of WoW Viewer integration to your model studio that exports WoW models and especially customized characters directly with their bones and animations? Or at least make the process of such exporting and transition to Warcraft III format less painful?

    This is how we're doing it currently.
    Thing is that WoW has a lot of resources one could use especially on the customization front and it's also "legal" to do so for Warcraft III since it's the same company. The alternative would be to buy Unity or similar assets but then they'd need converting and that would be overkill in the long run.

    Ok. I looked at this in passing and didn't sit and run the video with audio etc yet, but the tutorial is made by a non-programmer who is manually clicking on geosets in my program. Do you have a link to the source code of their wow model view including the source code of the dressing room buttons? Or are these other programs that are unlike Retera Model Studio because they don't share their source code?

    Once the COVID19 was active inside my biological system, like a zombie I logged into ElevenLabs website and generated the voice of Retera and Sylvanas (living) discussing how bad it felt and how as the king of Warsmash I should have a map generated for me where we kill endless waves of enemies that are representative of people who believe COVID19 is no worse than common cold. Meanwhile, Sylvanas made fun of how in 2020 February there was a Retera YouTube video that was titled "buying can of soup every day until Coronavirus Pandemic," parodying the rise of COVID19 as being as fake and unlikely as the release of Reforged Beta. And in this way, AI Sylvanas reminded Retera that it was again partly his own fault. He himself made fun of this predicament when it hadn't yet affected him.

    The moral of the story is this: if you want to add a new unit to Standard Units in the Object Editor, don't follow my 30 minute tutorial and for the love of Pete don't implement a new Skin System where every game object has 2 unit IDs just in case.

    Just run the Widgetizer, from PitzerMike. Respect our elders, like those who solved the technology problems of today a dozen years ago.

    Should Warsmash take-down parody in 2022 have been predictable based on a story that ridiculous?

    Edit: My favorite part was probably when the main character of the story went back in time to 2017 before Reforged was invented and posted a YouTube video claiming that the evil CIA was going to try to ruin Warcraft III by replacing its artwork to "make you feel inferior to the graphics" so that it would be harder to make your own custom MDX models "because the CIA hates you." Literally implicating that far back that Reforged was made out of hate for the Warcraft III modding community. Who does that?

    I remember when I first uploaded Warsmash to GitHub. We went on a wilderness hike and I suddenly wondered if the MIB would show up when I got back from the hike and take me away.

    It never happened. Any drama was purely artificial, created years later. Is the drama actually affiliated with the reality? Maybe if I woke up tomorrow and found the entire source code for Warcraft III in a zip folder on my computer, and uploaded it online, it would just sit for years to come until someone else found it and got excited.

    Edit: I also remember when I took down the Warsmash repo from GitHub, because I wanted to continue my work without concern about the AI singularity watching over me. No one cared. No one raised their voices in concern.

    The concerns were artificial, created a later time after I put it up again and took it down again. They're just manufactured.

    Since we went off-topic, I'll reply here: that cheat on Reforged actually subtracts one gold point each time you write it over the limit instead of giving you 0 like before.
