I don't really see people getting better, but this might be a reflection of myself. One way to describe the problem is to say that what everyone thinks and believes is for sale, so if they realized it was a problem then someone would just pay the manipulation machines to make everyone stop thinking it was a problem. But in reality the problem might be more sinister than that, because we could imagine that all the communications between all the people is getting monitored simultaneously by a big computer brain smarter than any individual human, so maybe even this message that I am typing right now will affect the future. Maybe that message was predicted in advance. And so in some way, maybe I am right here and right now part of the problem as I am writing this for you, because you are not the only entity that will read it.

Maybe if we wanted to heal, we would have to order a society with more humans and less automation, where we could only have this discussion inside of a sealed room with no microphones and where audio does not escape to the outside, so I could tell you my opinions without telling your invisible managers that I shared with you my opinions, and accordingly they wouldn't know to manipulate you to forget what I said in the days or weeks following me saying it. However bad I think the problem is, it's probably worse than that. But the reason it's so bad is to control the balance of power, and politics, and many other things, and so those people in power care a whole lot less about video games.

It's probably better to trust someone other than me. Recently I have done some things that make me question my life, and whether I used to be a good person but am no longer a good person. I used to joke online that I was losing my mind in some way and play a character on Warcraft, but maybe I am actually losing my mind and treating all of the kind people and good friends that I had the honor of meeting across my life in ways that are much worse than what they deserve. It's a possibility. So I don't necessarily think you have to care about my opinion. It might be better to make your own choices.

It might be important to ask yourself what type of world you believe you live in. I was raised to believe that I was in a world with a singular omnipotent deity, and that life was a quest to do what the deity wanted and that I could be forgiven if I messed up. But I looked under some rocks, and I looked behind some trees, and I never found the deity anywhere I looked. So, instead, I figured that the distinction between what was real and what was not more likely was based on what I predicted to happen next in my life -- tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow. And it seems that the computers will operate the same way tomorrow that they do today, with a high degree of accuracy, because the laws of electromagnetism have continued to stay the same instead of to change.

But there appears to be a large number of whistleblowers in the United States government who are reporting that the United States government has had communication with interdimensional aliens. I am not prepared to live in a world with sentient artificial intelligence, much less a world with interdimensional aliens. And one or the other is already here, or is on its way. If I think about how to prepare for living in that manner, I just draw a blank. I have no idea. If they have the technology to solve every problem, or to simulate a thousand replicas of my entire brain and then prod me to live in a manner consistent with their favorite of those thousand possibilities, I feel powerless to fight back. I don't know how to do that. I could spend my entire life making a Warcraft III custom game, and think that it was a work of art, and then they could make 50 more custom games likewise in a matter of seconds using their infinite compute power. Or perhaps they could make 50 entirely different RTS games.

So, worrying about social media is akin to worrying about the cotton gin putting all the cotton pickers out of a job, or the tractor putting all the farmers out of a job. We want to live in a society with democratically elected government, where power is distributed among the people, to organize in such fashion as they see fit to achieve their happiness. But, in reality, we are quickly spiraling towards a dystopian techno jail where everybody's strings are easily pulled. Pulling the strings of everyone, everywhere, all the time, individually, can become so easy that any hope of them democratically voting for what is in their own best interest will be lost, because they will live and vote for some almost hypnotized lie, failing to see the distinction between what they think they want when living in denial, and what they actually need or should want.

I am left with the feeling that I was born into a world that was absolutely miraculous and wonderful by comparison, and that if I ever have the honor of having children -- which is looking pretty bleak and unlikely anyway -- even so if I ever do manage to do that, those children would be born into a world that is likely to be much, much worse than the one I had myself inherited. Our only hope is that my mind itself is compromised, and that everything I'm saying is projection of my own problems onto the world, and that somehow the reality outside of my life is that everyone is fine and nothing is ruined.

I see that you are different from ,,generic model" they wants us to be, but so am I different to some extent.
See, long time ago back from 2010-2015 I was a crime fighter myself as an individual. I was informant for one owner of local/regional news owner, the main journalist. I reported to him on almost daily basis often various crimes, immoral stuff. I fought against bullies, violent people, rapists, murderers... I was recording when someone tried to rape girl in front of me around 15 years ago, I barely defended her, he let me, he could crush me if he wanted. I am not strong physically, but as a person I am strong, I was fighting against crime for common good for 5 years actively at least! I never ever earned any single money out of it, it was just in name of common good and honor and truth. And I never ever got any problems with that except I testified once at court against one criminal, I was lucky. Then I stopped in 2015 because I was in relationship with my fiance and I did not want one day to fall and someone to come to avenge on her.
But man, as former justice fighter, I completely get you, your frustration and all of that. This is not the world I was fighting for.

Everyone is online now, posting, tagging, making reels/shorts on tons of social networks now. They do eat, sleep and shit in reality, but still ignore that fact. The hell one friend of mine is 46 years old and has 5 god damned profiles on facebook so he can do idiocy there and liking his own posts! The hell, I am seeing rapidly this year many of young people with wireless earphones and their phones completely walking like zombies and crossing streets on red lights! People literally risk their lives for nothing! And yes someone expect with those people to communicate and argue constructive, yet to go there, gather and rebel against govermnent or ,,evil" corporations. They are unable to walk normally on street yet someone expect them to rebel! So yeah, I also believe that this is somewhat you was explaining this to me, this ,,online jail"

Yeah, but I don't know how to fix it. That's why I started to become a conspiracy theorist and read about the United States government hiding space aliens. It's the wishful thinking approach. I wish I could be saved by God-level aliens because I don't understand how to do what is right for society anymore, and I just keep doing things that benefit myself.

But when I read about the space aliens, the conclusion is terrible. If space aliens exist, they did not stop the Holocaust, et cetera. If they exist, whenever I encounter one I have to run away. Similar to how squirrels run away if I get too close, but in reverse.

Oh, well, I do not know about aliens yet, but society, actually humanity is failing badly. First of there are over 8 billion people around. Everyone needs to eat, to warm or cold (depending on living place), often to transport that is a lot damage to this planet already. We all (more or less) breathe dirty air, drink dirty water and eat GMO food. Despite technological level we still did not make technology to reduce impact of disasters and prevent them if possible, which is the main thing, because whatever we do, we do in this planet. Yet again nobody care, they just live until planet let them and pretend nothing happens. Hey look me I have laser, iphone tubrmo mumbo jumbo 100, lets ignore that I breathe polluted air. In middle ages, stupid people burned themselves on stakes, but still impact on this planet was minimal. Now in ,,advanced age" we have almost everything polluted. I do not see anything advanced beside some technology.

So, what are you going to do about it?

Well, I told you, I was literally putting my head on the hunt, I fought crime for years against thieves, criminals, rapists... I am done with that, let someone else do that. You cant expect me in 36 years to go and fight again while those modern weaklings in 20 years sit there. Let them gather, rebel, protest, lead revolution, they are supposed to be much younger and have more energy. They need to get their ass out of online world and start fighting for themselves and planet in real world.
And to answer you directly what am I going to do about it, nothing! I will just try to get as sane and reasonable I can in these times and try not to get corrupted as much I can. And of course I can still vote and even protest from time to time to help out, but I am not going to do heavy fights anymore.
Now, what you plan to do about it yourself?

Well, this is why I asked, because my answer for what I am going to seems to not be particularly good. I do not know exactly. I changed my avatar icon to a Corrupted Ancient so that everybody knows I was corrupted. Outside of that, I guess I see confronting crime on the streets and trying to reach for a better social technology landscape as two separate problems. So, one of the things that I have been doing is to use a "Librem 5" phone with the special higher-price manufacturing that is supposedly made by countries other than China, and assembled in the United States, as much as possible. This means that my phone is an extremely obscure and bizarre thing, and it does not run Android or iOS, but it does run Warsmash server because it's programmable and I can put desktop programs on there although its graphics card is too weak to do Warsmash. Not having an Android or iOS device in my life is refreshing. Initially there were certain things where society tried to sting me and say that I'm not allowed to do this or that without them, but it was obvious that society decided to be that way without any seriously good reason because my "phone" is just as good in terms of computational performance, miniaturization, and mobility.
