Can anyone still post new suggestions for the game in the poll thread? I really liked the idea of Drunken_Jackal, the one where it's like a Team Fortress game, although for me, I'd want to base it off during medieval times. Even so, I still like the idea. I might vote for it if we can't put any more suggestions there.

Or we could use Rift's talent point system with souls.

Soul Dominance?

Anyhow, you'd have different souls that you'd invest talent points in, which allow you the use of spells and such.

I am thinking of souls such as Necromancer, Warlock, Arcanomancer, Shadowmancer, Frostmancer, Pyromancer, Shaman, War Mage, Aquamancer.
Necromancer, Warlock and Shamans are focused towards spawning underlings (Undead/Demons/Spirits respectively) to aid them towards killing their enemy, Arcanomancer, Shadowmancer and Pyromancer focusing on large blasts of power which usually consume lots of mana, Frostmancer, War Mage and Aquamancer are focused on Defense, Counter and Entrapment (respectively).

Also, the polls are there to see if more people get interested over time.

I still think you can vote since we are not at a serious state yet where theres no turning back. Also, Hell_Master, quoting myself:
I say don't focus on the lore, we just need to answer the 5 W's and H of the event. We can use this lore-time to focus more on the development of concepts and gameplay material.

Statharas, your idea made me thinking. I think we need to first devise the sources of magic or the schools of magic. The CRUD System for databases is nifty, having spells that Create, Replace, Update and Delete entities.

We should seriously still make it have a tiny resemblance to the original map itself, since if we just make something the same with a few added features, people would still just prefer to play the map itself. Also, is this final?

Instead of those -mancer, how about we decide where we draw our mana from instead of what spells we have. Since we can pick any spells we want, the question how they cast the spells would be better instead of what spells they have.

Maybe Class A could draw his mana from his very soul/life and Class B could draw it from his environment. Class C could draw it from the dead, etc.

That is one well thought idea. I agree. Using mana is just too overused too and making different sources is quite new and awesome. Voting for this, +2 REP!

Mages always need mana and what Hell_Master said that using mana is overused is somehow wrong. When Drunken_Jackal says that a Class A Mage could draw mana from his soul/life is just the Mage tapping into the power of his life.

What I don't get is why the two ideas contradict each other so much. Mages cannot cast spells without mana; may it be from their own body or their power to tap into different sources of power.

That's a great idea. But if it were my idea, I would make it that bonus mana will be given or bonus stats (atk, dmg, etc.) in the particular environment or situation (from water source, fire source, dead bodies).

I'm sorry for my absence in this so far, i've moved to spain and the internet access is extremely limited, but i've been talking with my roommates about maybe getting internet for the house, but until then i can only briefly come by while i'm at work.
I would love to help out with ideas and balancing when we get to that, but i do not possess the skills necessary to provide even concept art for this i'm afraid, only walls of text from me :p

PS: Don't mind EroticSideburns, he's just angry at the world because he blames everyone else for his own social handicap

Assuming were using unity. I would like to be a support coder. In other words I don't want to take on any major or large task, but I don't mind helping out on the project or writing smaller functions of sorts.

As I would like to be involved, even if I am not fully invested at this point.

Wow I missed a lot for one day o_O usually we get like 2-3 posts in this discussion for a week or so :D

1. Hm.. well, I'm interested in being an artist for this game but, err... well, I don't really think I'm good enough...

2.
I could also help morbent with some art... if that's fine with him (in the assumption that he's interested in taking the part of "Artist")
why won't I be fine with this xD more people means less work and more fun :)

3. So Stath... what should I draw :?

(I might be a bit busy 2-3 days, Easter, School, Test, but I'll get to work when I'm in the mood (you know, cuz.. otherwise nothing will come out of my scrabbles))

Ergh... k .. but hm, can you give me some further detail on the creature type/cloth and such of the.. for example Pyromancer. What do we want him to be - Human? Some Fire Creature? What kind of cloth would he wear? Just a red robe or do you have a specific idea?

I may need some tips cuz otherwise it might turn out too different from what you've imagined.

edit: one more question - what did we decide in the end - All characters are humanoid or any kind of magical creatures?

Pyromorphosis? Wha?, a. Whatever. Hmm. Hm. K.. I'll see what I can think of. Probably just the regular Cloaked guy -.- I always do them mages like that. Maybe.. maybe if he is a Fire Human-like looking creature, or a burning clothed guy? With a staff. Or no staff? No staff would represent less power but more rage/speed and such. Staff = wisdom and such shit, Wand is just too.. meh. K... So. Anything but not a Pyromorphosis, .. isn't that like a trasnformed Illidan but on fire :? k. no illidans. You don't like Illidan stath :p he's pretty cool.

Hm... I'll add the fire and lava/fire cracks on his chest/hands later, but before that I want to ask about the armor - is it cool like that or should I change something? Also, is he gonna wear some Helmet or nothing? And if nothing will his hair be burning or no?

(Sorry for the double-post, I'll delete it later)
