Supposedly leaked specs of the Wii2:

- The Wii2 system will feature a Blu-Ray drive with a secondary aim of stopping piracy.
- 1080P and lower resolutions will be supported, for blu-ray movies and games.
- The release date is scheduled for third quarter of 2010.
- The release will be worldwide and on the same day for all countries.
- A scheme will be available in which it is possible to trade in the original Wii for a cheaper price on the new Wii 2.

Discuss. (Does anybody give a shit?)

Those specs sound fake.
A nentindo consol playing movies? unheard of.
Using current gen technology? impossiable.

Nentendos next gen consol will probably use a GC sized blu-ray disc (no movies), with built in 40 GB HDD and have the graphic performance as well as specs on par with current gen technology (out dated still).

Besides the Wii, Nintendo has pretty much always used current generation technology.
The Gamecube used a fail disc system with less capacity than the older PS2 DVD method.
The N64 used fail game cartredges in the days of discs so the games could not be as complex as PS1 or dreamcast.
The super nentindo was pretty much top of the range at the time however, but its processor was still slower than the sega genisis.

So where is this current gen technology?

Even the PSP beats the DS graphically.

The Gamecube was easily more powerful than the PS2. The Nintendo Optical Disc was large enough for nearly every game (and for ones it wasn't large enough, many developers used two discs). Faster loading make up for the lack of capacity.

You're comparing the dreamcast to a console a generation behind? The N64 was capable of performing as well as the PS1 in most cases. Its games were also considered a lot better. Oh, and the PS1 had horrendous loading times.

The rest of the SNES was more powerful, which made up for it.

The faster loading was hardly a problem for later consols as the PS2 got a drive speed increase for newer versions. Also you have no clue how horriable multi disc games are to make. In the case of games like FF7 and FF9 for PS1, like 50% of the data on each disc was repeated, logically simlar values would be expected for GC discs. The PS2 could still use duel layer DVDs, which is the same as the Wii is using now (talk about being years behind...).

Play games that were available on both systems and then come back and say that. All PS1 games released for the N64 had hugly reduced visuals. All N64 games had poor or hideously repeated textures to accomidate for the small size. In the end the 64 only ended up better cause it had RAM equal to half the size of the games it played which the PS1 did not. You still did not see FF7 for the N64 due to its fail hardware (even the PC saw it although poorly ported).

The rest of the SNES was more powerful, which made up for it.
Again not true, the sega genisis was better at producing its sprited graphics than the SNES if the same methods were used. SNES only ended up more powerful when games like mario world 2 and starfox used extra graphic processors in the game pack to achieve their graphics. I do admit that super mario kart was impresive as apparently did not use on of those accelerators so I admit defeat as far as graphic flexibility goes over the genisis.

I read from a game magazine that they are planning a "Wii2" but it will be "current gen" meaning probably on par or slightly better than the 360 (considering that that is only 30£ more expensive than the Wii, it looks like a major failure). Evidence? Well they said it will be afordable, which generally means filled with the cheapest components available like the Wii so do not expect a miricle. It will however still will compete apparently (be current gen unlike of the PS2 gen like wii) and they may try exchanging old wiis + 100-200£ for new wii2s. However this is probably 1 - 2 years away, and by then microsoft with its dated console will probably be switching over to next generation DX11 Xbox systems.

Oh also they sadly mentioned the Wii2 will apparently use the same fail controls (if not the same fail controlers). Why cant they switch over to next generation controlers like the 360 or PS3 instead of having to use dated wavy wand things...

The only "good" Wii games are the stupid free ones like Wii Sports.

I don't really give a shit about the Wii anymore. Was a cool idea for about a month when it came out, but now it's just retarded.

AGREED! I honestly only found Wii Tennis fun. That's it. Everything else becomes meh. Mario Party 8? What the Hell's the BIIIIG difference between 6, 7, and 8? Why not just rerelease 7 for the Wii and call it 8? Oh wait, that's what they did. In an unrelated note, Nintendo tends to milk things forever. We might just expect Mario Party 27 and Pokemon Bloodred & ChillBlue and The Legend of Zelda : Quelthyohg's Nose Clipper.

Legend of Zelda is like final fantasy, every one will be remembered in some way. The only bad zelda games I know were so rare and not made by nentindo.

Pokemon is perfectly fine if they update the combat system. It has pretty much used the same mechanics which it did like 20 years ago which is why it is getting boring and predictable.

Every zelda game is unique in its own way and memorable.

Super smash bros brawl was great, the main problem is that it has no multi console games. Well it does but why the hell would you buy them. Games like lego indiana jones cam out for both the wii, 360 and PS3 and each version was essentially the same gameplay wise. However why would you want to play the Wii version when the 360 one is higher resolution and better quality.

The main problem is that serious gamers own more than just a wii, they own a wii + another console like 360 or PS3. All cross platform games they get for the other console due to the over all better performance / game quality and many they are forced to get for the other console due to the makers being unable to port the game to the wii due to its greatly inferior hardware.

This leaves you with wii exclusives only, which mind you are not the most exciting. Yes legend of zelda, super smash brothers and the odd main platform mario game can be good to play, but they just do not beat the other consoles multi platform games + exclusive games.

Thus nentindo will need to release a "HD" console fast inorder to keep up with sony and microsoft, if they fail to do so they risk having the wii competing with the PS4 and xbox3 (what ever they call it) and might run into the same problems again getting no cross platform big selling games like dragon age or tes oblivion for examples.

I really liked the wii, it had a bunch of good games (that is, for kids) (MKW, SSBB, Wii sports, overlord II, guitar hero 4-5.)
I would get the wii2.
Sad that it doesn't have good games though.

The only thing about Wii that I really just HATED was the fact that instead of using all of its capabilites (Motion Sensors and as of recently Wii Motion Plus) they just use a retarded move called "waggle" which makes a Wii game almost the exact same as its brethren game on Ps3/Xbox360 but instead has worse controller layout and worse graphics. I really wish game developers weren't so lazy.
Also, all the third party developers who made "family games" for 30USD didn't help. Instead of making good games, they made games that a mother who is shopping would see and would say "This looks fun" (It isn't) and so all these shit games were top-selling.

Eh, not really interested. Although I have to say that the Wii did a really good job at introducing people to yoga (if you did Wii Fit). A good way to get a feel for the right posture and how to maintain it. :)
