The Next Custom Game Night's at 6:00 pm UTC on Saturday, August 11th, 2018! CANCELLED because of expected 1.30 instability until further notice. Want to mod as well? Check out the Map Challenge, brought to you by AvatarsLord! Welcome to the Custom Game Night Primer! I am Selaya, your hostess and shall now detail a buncha things you may (or may not :^]) want to know about the Custom Game Night, brought to you by yours truly Selaya & Wareditor! It is the spiritual successor of the Funmap Evening Event, the folks over from inwarcraft.de used to host. Fundamentally the Custom Game Night is a place where we all gather together to have fun together! And, maybe try out a new map you haven't heard of before. The other aspect of this is obviously to socialise while playing games! After all, we may just head over to ENT and !pub something otherwise and go play with randoms. <3, Sela You are all invited to bring your own maps or any of your favorite maps to the CGN! However, to ensure that we all have fun during the event, please consider the following guidelines for your submissions: The map should not contain gamebreaking bugs.† The map should work well with (almost) any given number of players The map should not prematurely eliminate players. The map should be fairly intuitive to play, and not have a steep learning curve The map should not take eternities to finish. I'd like to ask you to post your map suggestions beforehand, For now, you can use this Google Spreadsheet. Please be advised that the final decision of the maps played is at the staff's discretion. †: You are, of course welcome to bring your very own map that you've just made! Please however be aware that this is not supposed to be your place to debug your map. Sometimes you just dont realise a (critical) bug until it's too late. Shit happens. However, if you consistently bring bugged, subpar maps instead of debugging them first we may just opt to not play your map(s) anymore. Do not be the boy who cried wolf. Please also note that we may decide to abort your map after playing about 20 minutes. While we all appreciate your efforts and would encourage you to show off your work during a Game Night please understand that your map may not be considered fun by everyone, especially in its incomplete form. We're prepared to give it a shot anyways; however we also are aware that you may not be able to correctly judge your maps length without extensive testing, and in order to not block the entire Game Night (refer to submission rule (v)) with it nor to completely forbid showing off your own work, we'll have to set an abort horizon. Hope you can understand us on this! Hopefully we're all adults and can make do without a huge list of things-to-not-do-to-your-fellow-players, however please especially note rules 2 and 3: Be respectful towards your fellow players! Do not insult and/or verbally abuse them! Be respectful towards the map we're playing! I understand that there's a vast amount of maps from 16 years of depth, and that not everything may be your cup of tea. However, please consider staying instead of ruining the game for everyone else! You may respectfully disagree with a map choice during and/or after play. Be respectful towards the general (list of) map choice(s). Again, see the above. While a specific map/genre may not be your most favorite, consider giving it a shot anyways. In turn, we shall commit to your favorite map which may not be our favorites either. Having 12 attendees but only 7 people playing at any given time because the other 5 are afking instead of trying something new can be incredibly frustrating. Be committed. If you cannot make it to a Game Night, do not pretend so. It's really disrespectful when you have 5 people no-showing and leading to a cancellation of the night, wasting everyone's time. This is also related to the preceding rule. Be commited to the Game Night, and consider playing every map even if they're not all your favorites. It's really disrespectful when you are just cherry-picking your favorite map to play while expecting everyone else to join in even if isn't their favorite as well. I own a hostbot that we're using for the Game Night. It connects to the following realms: Lordaeron - USWest Azeroth - USEast Kalimdor - Asia Northrend - Europe PvPGN Servers server.eurobattle.net europe.warcraft3.eu The current standard schedule is Saturday Night (EU times), 7p 6p UTC (Daylight Savings, hooray! jk). Please pay heed to the respective specific Night's announcement for further details. May be expanded to stuff like NA times if there's sufficient demand. We shall convene in the Hive Discord's #gaming_chat channel. Game Names shall be announced there. You are encourage to join the voice channel there and have fun with the Moose :^) If you have any questions or suggestions, whether about things to add to this Primer or concerning the Custom Game Night itself, please let me know! Thread's neat now. Graphics & formatting (mostly) brought to you by yours truly, @Wareditor <3 Changelog Spoiler Mar 23rd - Made thread neat with the help of Wareditor! <3 Mar 24th - added a new third rule: Please play all the maps!. Also expanded on the former third (now fourth) rule, which is related to the new third. Mar 24th, the 2nd - added a note concerning submitting your own, self-created maps.
