Aeroblyctos presents The Chosen Ones Single-player RPG
Story
Background Story
Twelve peaceful years have passed since The Great War ended. The war that lasted centuries but no man could recall the reason of. The age of despair, bloodshed, loss and grief is now past. The new age brought the opportunity for human kingdoms to rise, as humanity has broken free from the grip of the dragons.
This story focuses on Kingdom of Balgaron and three famous Dragon Slayers: Phodom, Fradz and Galeoth. Each of them starts their journey in different places, but they will eventually meet eachother and join forces along the path. Together, the three are forced to go a conflict beyond their imaginations.
Lead them into an epic world, guided by a strong storyline that covers hate, love, war and peace.

Galeoth

Fradz is a young energetic Dragon Slayer known for his short temper and bad manners. This silly thief is a very powerful warrior and it is said that he even killed powerful dragons single-handedly. After the war, Fradz went on many journeys, but one day a mysterious voice told him to travel to the famous Dragon Inn to meet someone who was once very close to him. Fradz accepts this new journey, as he knows that he cannot decline it...
Galeoth, the son of a legendary Dragon Slayer lived up to his father's name and became one of the leaders of Balgaron. After the war, Galeoth still believed that the war was not yet over. Hello, I'm playing on Reforged and I very much enjoyed the 1st map. Unfortunately, after completing the 1st map as soon as I finish the 3 questions and receive the notification that I don't have enough game points to see the cinematic the game freezes. I tried replaying from the start (3 times) and also reinstalled the file (2 times) and it always does that. Can someone recommend a solution to this issue?
Some campaigns tend to screw the whole thing on Reforged, including this one. It's best to play it on the recommended version (I think it's 1.27b for this case).

You mean reverting your game back from original Reforged to non-Reforged one (before 1.32 with all legacy graphics)? If so, please refer to this thread below:
Below are lists of WC3 installation and patch downloads. Please don't share any cracked or otherwise manipulated files. This list is only intended for people who already own the game, you still need a CD-key! 1.01c 1.04c 1.10 TFT: 1.20a; 1.20e 1.23a 1.28.0; 1.28.1; 1.28.2; 1.28.3; 1.28.4...

If you were referring to the Reforged before 1.35, please do some research by using a Google. I won't help you because most of the download links were pirated, which means it's against the forum rule.
I really need some help with this. I played this campaign couple years ago with a potato laptop, and i dont remember having any issues in regards to crashing. Now i have a good laptop and I wanted to play this again, but I get frequent crashes even though i played this on the same version on both computers, which is 1.29. The crashes occur while trying to save the game (if i never save im fine? idk), and they seem weirdly related to the time spent in the chapter. For instance, I spent a lot of time in chapters 6 and 7, and I started having troubles trying to save the game in them because it would crash most of the time. I didnt have any crashes in chapters 8 and 9, and because I again spent a lot of time in chapter 10, i cannot save my game yet again, which means i have to speedrun the chapter and i hate that. I applied 4gb patcher and that didnt work either, although the crashes before applying that used to say that there wasnt enough memory. Now it doesnt say anything but crashes nonetheless. I plan to play this more so i hope anyone else figured this out already but i couldnt find something similar here. I could post a crash log ss too if anyone can translate it.

Make sure you deleted an unwanted saves. This could be the main reason your game is crashing randomly upon loading a saves. If possible, restart the mission from the scratch without using a Load Save Game option.
Also, you mention that you have a potato laptop. I think weak systems tend to make the game crashed often due to the insufficient amount of RAM. If this is the right case, be sure to terminate an unwanted processes using Task Manager.

I have no problems with loading a save, I'm only crashing while trying to save the game. I dont think the save files piling up could be the issue since I had problems saving the game in chapters 6 and 7, but i had zero crashes while saving in chapters 8 and 9. I still believe the longer the time you spend in a chapter the better chances of crashing while trying to save. What is even weirder is that my current laptop is miles better than my old potato one, but i had no crashes at all saving the games in the potato laptop. One would think it is supposed to be the other way around. I played this in version 1.29 in both laptops, so the patch version cannot be the issue either. I deleted my older saves and tried the windows 8 compatibility mode and I still cannot save.
Edit: Nvm, it appears the game version is the culprit.
I downloaded this because people said it is great and all, but holy shit this is one of the worst experiences I ever had in a custom campaign...
First you are brutally frontloaded with a shitton of texts and abilities and have no idea what is even remotely good, then the Music is absurdly loud and you have to disable all game sounds to get rid of it and finally the hotkeys are a complete mess...
the commandcard is messed up badly, having the ablities in the top row and mixed up, the normal commands in the bottom row and in the wrong order
Z for move, C for hold position, X for stop, S for patrol? wtf?

I get you. Then again, this campaign was made over a decade ago, so I think it still used the old software for things.
I also encountered some bugs while playing this, and by the end of it, gets a headache from all that collecting items fiasco and several unsolved mysteries. Didn't even reach the end.
Still, if the dev can update this game and improve its functions, I think I'll play it again. This game has a lot of potential.

LOL look at the number of download time dude, not coincidentally to say this is overall best campaign ever: best story line (multiple hidden quests, endings), fantastic music, intriguing gameplay (even for new game +). You can try to play in previous version of Warcraft 3 like 1.26, trust me, it is really worth playing

Not even a few things to be considered a review. Make sure you are playing old material on the game version it was made with/for. Last I played this was on 1.30.4, if I recall correctly and it worked fine but it was made with an older much more stable version.
Please refrain from temper tantrum ratings. Most of the time, these issues you mention, are user related errors and not the map/campaign/resource's.

This map needs to be Remake now to work properly in Reforged.
If you guys want to play this map, better to play it in the 1.26a version. it is quite stable for this version.
If you play this in Reforged, there are a lot of bugs now and possibly crashed. I just played recently in Reforged but in Chapter 1, all your skills will trigger your ultimate. even the clickable items in the inventory have mana since it would also trigger your ultimate.
I want to play this again but I don't want to play in an older version since I already finished this game a lot of times.
Perhaps i am misunderstanding, at the top right of the webpage it says the campaign was updated on "Oct 8, 2023" but i do not see any such update/version?
Well, since the author hasn't been on since 2022, I am guessing it was the rating change from "approved" to "high quality" that might have triggered the Oct 8 2023 "update". Might want to ask a mod/ reviewer for confirmation though.
Would love a proper fixed version or remake of this map. its a staggering achievement for the wc3 engine but yeah it's kind of breaking at the seams in some places. I'm playing on 1.29.2 and have only had one crash early on, encountered a weird bug i hadn't seen documented with the Chapter 6 side quest The Forgotten Ones (in the room where you fight the 4 Ones, the only way I could get them low enough to use the dispel staff on them before death was only auto attacking with just two heroes, casting spells causes them to reset at a roughly 1/2 health). it can be a real slog to get through at some points with items unable to destack and making sure you get key items in early chapters for fusions later on, but this campaign is a real gem overall
I dream about playing this again on Reforged with Quenching Mod someday. As of yet, my giant TV screen cant handle the 2002 WarCraft UI at all, I will deeply miss this game everytime I open Warcraft
Remember that not all older maps are intended to work on Reforged because of numerous issues you might encounter during the gameplay.
Please check out my comments above in case you want non-Reforged Warcraft 3 client.
I would rather not compare this masterpiece to some other works by some that give such lousy comments so I would nicely ask you to either reconsider your rating or give a proper review with feedback that actually deserves your rating.

Hi!
No problem! I had heard about this map a while ago around 2022 but it had never caught my attention enough to play it. But in January of this year I decided to give it a try because of the importance it would have had and the downloads it had. But in the end I ended up being disappointed not only by the fact that it became slow and boring but I also started to find the same bugs that were found after its 2023 update and that some people put in their reviews. This does not take away from the fact that it would have been a masterpiece in its time when it was first released at the time, but I cannot rate as 5 stars an experience that was not entirely enjoyable or with the bugs it currently has. I can tell you some errors right in the prologue as soon as you start, such as on the second loading screen between choosing skills and starting to play, it was crossed by a black line due to the modified interface that then continued once the game was over. You started the map having to restart and do everything again or for example when you wanted to open the "Game Progress" section the game crashes instantly or just killing trash or using certain skills caused you to randomly crash. All this in just the first map and wasting half an hour just restarting and choosing skills that I thought were convenient for the heroes. These bugs are the first ones you find as soon as you start playing, then I found the same style throughout all the chapters but I also wouldn't want to bore people by telling bugs that won't have an update in the near future at least. If the game receives an update and at least resolves the major bugs I'll have no problem trying to play it again and reconsider changing the raiting.
On the other hand, I see that it is also proposed to play it in old versions to play it, but I am not a big fan of this type of thing. I think the maps should be updated from time to time so that they don't end up outdated with the new versions that come out of the game.

Yeah. Definitely it's not meant for the newer patches that broke older patches. It's unfair to expect an author to eternally be here to do such fixes that weren't there in the beginning. So, I still think the rating is unfair and I'd really appreciate it if you'd try the campaign on the version it was meant for or at least on 1.30.4.
This is atrocious, the balance is terrible, out right as it only considers people who have the patience to do a very very old cheese tactic that makes the game BORING, irredeemably and intolerably boring that breaks immersion immediately as you introduce the characters as capable veterans, who are apparently incapable of winning a direct fight with anything.
Some of the abilities don't work either like the flame aura for Phodom, it is does not do ANY damage around him at all regardless of his position and with as much as i tried using it i never saw a "flame pillar" hit any of the enemies he hit so I'm pretty sure that ability, among others, is completely broken.
Your story is ok, its ok it ain't amazing, hard to be invested when you made a very unapproachable custom map.
The UI and HUD is just ugly, you could have just made use of what was already there but i understand sometimes you want different art and functionality, that said it looks ugly the art work part of it is lost entirely behind having to jump between several little menus, which once again does not compliment a style of difficulty that requires exactly ONE strategy and that is running away and dedicating hours upon hours to just sitting around, doing nothing but waiting for heals.
Balancing is difficult i know, but this is absolutely atrocious man come on.
I feel the effort is anything short of commendable.
If you ever played JRPGs, you'd know there are the main game things which are easier to approach given the proper and there's the optional material for the hardcore players.
It might also matter on which patch you played this on, since you mentioned stuff not working which I don't remember not when I ran through this.
Not saying this is perfect by any means, one person (mostly) made material but two stars is pretty much a rant, not even close to the work's true image.

Complete hogwash. Flame pillar works perfectly and has been an integral part of my strategy building a mage Phodom. The amount of custom strategies this campaign allows is mind boggling, it certainly is not for the dimwitted. But the author was kind enough to implement a Child's Play difficulty mode as well, perhaps you should try that before ranting on the difficulty
If anyone is looking to dive into this beast of a campaign, I went and made a dropbox of all the resources I could find on the campaign, stuff like recipe lists, common bugs, and dig sites/stealing guides. big find was a working 1.28 save file with all lower difficulties beaten so you can start the campaign at a high level if desired, instead of the author-intended way of beating or restarting a lower difficulty playthrough. Mostly pulled from here, the old TCO website, and random web sources.
I unfortunately have this problem with 1.26a and 1.27 starting chapter 6/7 from scratch and it seems to be the same reason of time chapter played. I can't play this game if this keeps going. What version are you using? I also get mini-lags when I play the chapter for a long time and the viable saves beforehand seem to take a long time saving as opposed to previous chapters saving quicker and not crashing. Both playthroughs I had Power Orb which I suspect is the culprit, I tried consuming 3 which is maximum I can do at the start but it still happens.

try the version 1.29, it's been more than a year since then so i might be misremembering what i did to fix it but i was wrong about the game version and it WAS the problem for me. Unfortunately you will have to give up your current saves and start over, and some things will be broken due to the patch not being wholly compatible with TCO, but you will at least be able to complete the game without worrying about crashes (you can still crash in the epic fights in chapters 9 and 10, but they are still doable). And the broken things arent gamebreaking either, though take care to do the doomguard portal quest in chapter 5 before doing any other.
Guys, when this campaign came out like 10 years ago, it was the most EPIC campaign ever made for War3. The author even wanted to write a book on it, since as far as I know he quit his full time job to dedicate his time into creating this masterpiece of work.
It might not seem much now, but keep in mind the limitations to the engine 15 years ago, he did the best with the tools he had at the time. And I still remember how my PC at the time struggled with FPS in some maps because of the gigantic triggers going on.
Yeah the terrain, systems and everything might seem like a lackluster now, but believe me when I say it, at the time, it was revolutionary.

Same, I really like this campaign and still hoping for the maker to update it or something to a newer version since many bugs have started appearing due to it being ancient as rock.
And I'm still trying to look for his book about this story, lol.

There isn't one, there was a travesty where he for a short period demanded people donate money because he had quit his full time job in order to make this campaign, and then people of course reacted as in, mods for a game should generally be free and that him demanding for funds was an absolute no no.
Then he started writing the book, which he would eventually publish and that would be how we, the players, supported him. But as far as I know he went missing about 10 years back. Wherever he is, wishing him good health and prosperity. EDIT: You can read more about it here
EDIT2: Man, knowing this information made me feel so old right now. Sigh. Enjoy the forums of the past, younglings!
