This is an idea of mine related to project development of maps not for a map in specific. Basically, in this day and age we can all agree that most awesome things are awesome because a lot of people contribute to it.
If WarCraft 3 didn't have the World Editor, barely anyone would play it and it would have been a dead game within a year. But since Blizzard said let's let everyone be able to expand our product as they see fit, it has become an awesome game.
Now, my idea is, why not take it to the next level? We all know what it is like to work on a map and just not have the time, energy or knowledge to keep on expanding it, especially when you work on a map that will be BIG.
But what if you make it so that fans of the map and others can help you easily extend your map and improve it?
The idea
You get a forum for your project. On this forum people will be able to submit their own resources, like custom arenas for an arena map, new classes for a hero map, new units, artwork, systems or anything they want. Then other users on the forum can rate said resource. You then look at resources and look if they indeed would fit into your map properly. If they do, you can implement it straight into your map and of course credit the helper. Other users may even rate submitted resources or rate changes made to versions of your map.
This way, if you are working on a big map, like an AoS which you want to have a lot of heroes, like DotA (as in, it has a lot of heroes and items), other people who have an idea can upload it and all you have to do is implement it, allowing you to 'grow' your map rapidly.
