Terraining Contest #2 - Mountains

To please everyone, I edited the camera angle to show more of "the mountain".

This is my 3rd WIP and may be my final depending on responses. Hope you like it! =)

Sabrtooth, How did you get the upside down arches. I am just asking for future reference. My terrain for this competition doesn't need anthing upside down.

Change either the max pitch or roll to negative 3.14 (doodads use radians, units use degrees).

I don't know if a tutorial like this is on The Hive, so here. The first post and a few posts down the road all talk about that.

Use a negative number in the Roll Value. It's near the top.

I'm going to say yes. It doesn't make a huge difference, but I'd rather stay away from imports (excluding utm of course).

If you really want to use it, give me a link. Or are you making it yourself?

I might be the only one who thought MadseN's first terrain here was pretty much perfect. This one is also good, but nothing strikes me as "special" about it. The trees look pretty monotone, and the rocks look strange to me, especially next to the trees clumped together.

I don't like what you did with the rocks, MadseN. Too monotonous, no variation like real rocks, and really they look like plastic boulders stacked on top of each other. The mountain in the back is pretty nice though.

The mountain looks really good, Mad, but I'm with the others on the rocks. And it's hard to distinguish that that's a port at first, it's such a small piece of the terrain =P

Rescores, yours looks great though the rock dosen't blend well with the snow. You could possibly try that cracked ice tile in Icecrown Glacier, it would look great replacing that rock.

I can talk to Admin, but they never seemed to think terraining deserved it. It seems to be treated as a lower contest.

It's still nice to have some sort of representation, and with the number of people who are at least participating I wouldn't see any reason why it would be a sin to have some nifty thing. (Or at least add it in the "Arena Winners Thead" =P)

Ya. but the icon would have to be something that shoed a piece of terrain. For example, the Far Sight icon would work great for it.

My First Terrain....

Hey guys!!!

Saw the terrain competition, and though I would knock together a little something with my (very) limited terraining skills.... So far the only thing I've ever done to do with terrain was my cinematic.

Feedback would be really great, I would really love to improve!!!
I wish lots of luck to all the other contestants, and Redscores, your Terrain looks awesome!!!

Edit - the way the pics have to do with mountains - in the first your looking straight up one, and in the second you are looking down from the top of one.
