I meant something like Orgrim and Blackhand :) Your Grom is both WC3-like and WoW-like at the same time. Orgrim and Blackhand feel like they were actually part of the game already :D

Not really though. You might think it looks more detailed than WC3, which is it, but it's still no where near WoW level. Look at these comparisons (sorry for the huge pics):

As you can see, even though it's more detailed than the original (which it should be, makes no sense to make a custom model that looks worse) it still looks waaay closer to WC3 graphics than WoW. There's no comparison really.

Anyways, I hope that you make a newer version of Durotan though if you dont plan to make Varian. He seems kinda left out since he's the only one you haven't given an upgrade.

Yeah, maybe. I might make a WoD inspired Durotan.

Trust me you dont :D its one of my early models...i was thinking about making a new versions, but now i really dont :) yours is epic, there is no need for more versions...well...but maybe one day ^^

Hehe fair enough :p

Just for the record, Tauer, I'm still waiting on your Zul'jin! :O

I know dude.. I'll find some time to finish it at some point. Promise.

For some reason his abdomen looks like a fat belly, must be the highlights and the size of the muscles at fault there.

Meh, wip anyway so it looks nice so far.

Tried changing the highlights a bit. Besides, I think Garrosh should be a little bit fat as well as muscular :p

Update:

Slowly texturing my way down. Going pretty solid so far. Yet to add tattoos.

Woah.. Garrosh looks so bad.. and not the bad kind of bad, I mean the good kind of bad. Btw, is this the WoD version(w/o shoulder pads/pit lord tusks) or the MoP version(fully armored)?

In my honest opinion what made Garrosh really badass were those tusks and his bulky armor in the first place. It'd look much better with it. I think Tauer just reveals what he has textured so far in those previews, not the whole skin. A few pages back you can see the mesh of the whole skin, including tusks and body armor.

Correct ;)

Did some work on the tusks as a matter of fact:

Yay, Grommash is approved.

It's amazing Tauer! Good job! With sure I will use this model!

Thanks! Hopefully you can use him in one of your awesome maps :)

Amazing, can't wait to see the final outcome of this skin and them tattoos he has on his body. Excellent, I smell a DC.

Thanks :)

I think one of his shoulderpads should be different than the other, if you want him to be like he is in WoW. :p

Actually he only has one shoulderpad ;)

Update on the skull shoulderpad + belt skull:

That is true, but I was wondering in WoW as well... Like... How he manages to keep it on his shoulder when it's just one horn flying slightly above. From what I saw on their WoW model as well, he has no chains or anything else to keep it in place. That is when you look for sake of realism, but yeah, the information is correct he has only one shoulder pad. Excellent update by the way. Looking forward to see him done 100% and see how he'll fit in with Grommash's animations.

Thanks guys.

So. Regarding my next project. I have a lot of models I want to make. There is my Zu'jin model which I know some of you want very badly, but tbh I'm not feeling that one right now. As I've said, I'll finish him sometime in the future.
Some people have also asked for updated versions of my old models. Which I might also do sometime later, but not as my next project.

Of the models I really want to make, I've narrowed it down to these 3:

First, I really want to make a Garona Halforcen model. I haven't seen a good model of her anywhere and she's quite important in the lore. I would like to make one based on this concept:

latest

I think it has a lot of potential, with TC on her scarf and cloth on legs etc. Could be pretty cool. Also never made a female character before so that could be interesting.

Second, a suggestion I got from Direfury, a remake of Uther. Originally I didn't feel very interested in remaking characters that already have a model. But this concept is really cool and I could totally see it working as a WC3 model:

Third there is one that I've been wanting to do for years. Pretty much since I started modeling, and that is Sargeras. I know this is probably a model that a lot of people would want as well, but I would spend a lot of time making it as I would like to make a truly epic model for him that lives up to his reputation.
Of course based on this concept:

Any of those would be amazing, especially Uther.

Although I LOVE Garona, since Uther was basically the first hero I ever saw in wc3 and the paladin is by far the most memorable part of the game for me, Uther has a special place in my mind and I would love a quality remake of him. Garona would also be a very neat addition to the wc3 ranks. Sargeras, on the other hand, I don't really know a whole lot about so I don't know if I can say anything really.

Awesome that he is done man, been waiting for one like that for a very long, long time! Excellent work, though you have forgot about the tattoos he has - but never mind about that, it's a small detail compared the overall extreme good look of the model.

Looking forward to see your future projects man, nice concepts and ideas! It's going to be excellent! :D

Ok, seems like most people are in favor of Garona. (Me too. :p )

Started on the mesh, very simple so far:

Getting the female form right is quite hard, but I think it's getting there.

Going to bed now, will post more progress tomorrow.

Tauer, my old friend!
I am SO sorry I haven't been saying anything, lately, as you pump out these outstanding models!
I've just been having internet issues as of late, and whenever I -DO- have internet, I seem to always be busy with something, preventing me from coming on DX
But nevermind that, look at these fantastic new models you've been throwing out! I love both of them, they are just great. Really the -only- complaint I can think of is Grom's face is a liiiiiittle plain compared to Garrosh, but that's really just a minor quirk. Everything else is just perfect. Well done!

I'm very excited to see this Garona model, by the way! I totally agree she deserves some attention finally, and I could actually really use her for the new project I'm working on.

Speaking on said project, would you per chance consider making your eventual Uther model more knight-styled than his on foot, Paladin model? Say, something akin to Garithos? I would love to have an Uther model reminiscent of his Warcraft II incarnation, though as old as his Warcraft III self. Obviously, you can go in whatever direction you want, that was just a humble request XP

I would also love to see you revisit some of your older models, namely Ner'zhul and Kargath, for the same project, but you can get to those if/whenever you want to, of course X3

Glad to see you regularly working again, man!

"times change"——finally we have a great Garrosh model ! maybe it's a long story . at first , in 2010 , Sellenisko had made a Garrosh base on FrIkY 's texture , but he didn't release him in public , cause he thought the model was not good enough . then Kwaliti had decided to make a Garrosh , then he gave up . in 2013 , 4ORMER had made a new Garrosh and sent his WIP on modeling forums . it seemed that he finished the mesh and stay him without animation , that's pity . and now , at the start of 2015 u did this !!! very well done , bro . we really need him !

this is what i said in the model thread . then i got something to say more . at first , take a look at this screenshot below . i gathered some of hero models which can be used as warcraft characters .

have u find some problems ? in the front of these are horde heroes , left side used custom textures and right side used texture in-game . and u must admit that in-game textures’ group shows better effects than the custom textures . the simple colors painting looks better than the texture with details . yes , the HQ texutres maybe looks awesome when u see it closer . but usually u could not see it alone in the game . u always see its generic looks . then all the details make the texture looks blury .

even ur own art there are much diferent .ur older work , though the textures were not good enough to ur recent works . but they are cleaner up than new ones . because their brighter colors . so i wish u to pay attention on the colors with the next work . then u will do better and better . of course ur skill are stronger , but it seemed that warcraft 3 doesn't support HD textures as well . That's why I perfer I game textures with Warcraft modeling .

at last , honestly Garrosh is really nice one , wish u create more greater works ~

Yeah, that is true. But it's about finding a balance. While I of course want to make cool Warcraft 3 models I also want to improve my skills. And I can't really do that if I follow the WC3 artstyle 100% (it's too ugly :p)
But I really am trying to make it fit as best I can while also improving my skills. Anyway, thanks bro ;)

Hey mate, good to see you back here ;) I was wondering why you haven't been here for some time.
Hope you'll visit more regularly.

Update on the mesh:

Face is a little hard to see on the gif. I'll upload some closeups tomorrow after I've done some more work on it. I can also upload wireframe shots if someone wants it.
