Tauer's Models 2.0

I think it's perfect as it is right now, excellent work!.
I agree on that:wink:
I never really liked the look of the saw to be honest.. Anyway, it isn't a requirement for this model I think. It's possible to capture the Doomhammer feel without it.
I had a feeling about that:> Anyway the shading on the TC parts looks pretty sweet.
I think that paladinjst said that he's quite bald (if I'm not wrong:/), what do you think?

Two little nitpicks:
Personally I'd get rid of the TC on the hammer handle, didn't see that before. Just black would look better imo.
And maybe make the shoulderpad material two sided? Would probably only be noticeable in some cinematics though.

Other than that it looks great though, awesome job :)

Put the blackrock symbol on the hammer and give it TC.

This proved to be difficult, since I can't make it transparent and team colored at the same time. So I removed it. Besides, it didn't look very Warcraft-y

I think it's perfect as it is right now, excellent work!.

Thanks ;)

He might be a little bald, true. I'm just trying to stay to the concept art though. And I don't think the books describe him as having long hair either, with the exception of his braids which I've made.

Oh yeah, the material on the shoulders will be two sided hehe. No TC on the hammer? Hm, I'll think about it. Thrall's hammer does have TC on the handle though.

Since a bunch of stuff from the WoW expansion has been datamined lately, a model for Orgrim may pop up soon. It might make good reference.

Thanks for the suggestion, although to be honest, I'm not really interested in Blizzard's design for the orcs in WoD. I mean, just look what they did to Blackhand:

http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20131110092539/wowwiki/images/0/02/BlackhandtheDestroyer.png

http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20140406192522/wowwiki/images/9/9f/Blackhand_WoD.jpg

While some may find this design cool, I find it to be a complete disregard of the original concept art, and it doesn't capture his character at all. Just an excuse to make an "epic" raid boss. So I don't have a lot of faith that Blizzard will capture Doomhammer either I'm afraid.

当然会,因为我本来就是中国人。欢迎你来北京,丹麦的朋友~ :ogre_haosis:
Of course i can , cause i am chinese ~ welcome to beijing , friend form Denmark ~

here's the screenshot from 3DMAX . the blue color parts can be changed with team , and Rhonin's hair will be red with geoset color . all of these used ingame textures .

and i wish u could make Garrosh , Kargath and Kilrogg . :ogre_haosis:

It's pretty nice. Antonidas, Rhonin and Anduin Wrynn.
Edit: I'd prefer to skip Garrosh and make Kilrogg Deadeye (it's a more interesting character imo).

it's Khadgar , not Antonidas . cause i think the origin hero archmage should be suitable for Antonidas . so i need a model of khadgar . i don't want to use the same model with Antonidas and Khadgar .

Hey, a little Chinese-Danish bonding is okay and all, but please don't let it get too out of hand. This is an English forum, after all. :p

You're right, we should do this in PM. Sorry about that.

Yep, also I think you stood true to the concept so far Tauer. I can't wait too see what your next hero might look like modeled by you.

Thanks, I'm glad to hear that ;)

Very cool models ;D
Actually my plan is to do Rhonin as well, as my next model. It was requested by someone who needs it for a project. But your Rhonin looks really cool!

Kargath and Kilrogg.. to be honest I'm not that interested in making them. There are so many major lore characters that I would prefer to make first ;)
Garrosh.. maybe. He's a WoW character, so it goes a bit against my code. I might make him because his design is pretty cool though.

Then upload it already! :D

Well, he's not done yet hehe. I still need to animate him.

He's fully rigged now, I'm ready to start animating :)

Hey paladinjst, are you still working on those models?
yes, the meshes are almost done . just need animations . next will be terenas or tulrayon .
Thanks, I'm glad to hear that ;)

loktar has just sent me a pm , at first i want to give them ingame animations . now i have a new plan : will u give all of them new custom animations with ur powerful skill ? that will be more active from u . :ogre_haosis:

Wait, so you're not planning on working on Durotan and the other orc chieftains anymore?

It really depends on what mood I'm in and what models I feel like making. This is not my job, I do this in my spare time for fun, so I only work on models that I feel like making.
I might pick up Durotan some time in the future, but not before I've made at least another model first.

I'm sorry, but I don't think so. It's not that I don't want to help, because I do, but rather I find the animating to be the most boring part of making these models. So if I'm going to be animating anything, I would rather animate my own models. The Rhonin model does look good though, and if loktar is going to use yours that's great. I guess I will start on something else then. Maybe Zul'jin or Lothar.
Good luck on the models though, they look awesome ;)

haha...do not say sorry , cause i can really understand : actually we r the same , we made models just for fun , so we just do what we want to do . that's not my request , it's just a wish : cause when i saw loktar's pm , i thought if this model could be taken half time from ur request .
now i will finish them with myself . thank u all the time , still . cause i find the buddy which is almost like myself .
btw , i have finished a lothar model with ingame textures like them . we always have the same ideas . but i still wish ur epic one . i made these models just for nobody made a better one before .

You know making a better Zul'jin could be good:)
I never found a worthy model around here/ all of them are either crappy or not really 'good'(they lack too much). Anyway, it's up to you:3

I agree, which is the reason I'd like to do him ;)

Good luck with the model, if you have any questions about animating you're free to ask.
Haha, we really do seem like-minded, I'd love to see your Lothar. You are amazingly good at using ingame textures and still make it look unique.

Ok, I started animating. Idle 1:

here's my lothar's model ~ it's a very old work , not good though . and i made some human heroes before .

ingame textures can solve the problem of unified style , and still much smaller and easier to used . also i loved painting textures . here are some of my models with freehand painting .

Lothar looks pretty cool. Only one thing, he's a little small. Lothar is described as being a pretty large man.
Your handpainting skills are amazing. WOW. I can see I still have a lot to learn... makes my textures look like garbage next to yours haha!
You should try making some custom models and paint the texture yourself, would be amazing.

Please make Lothar next! :) the Hive lacks 2nd War Alliance Heroes

Hehe, easy there. As I've said before it really depends on my mood on the particular day I start making it. If I feel like it, I might make Lothar. Seems like there's more votes for a Zul'jin though.

Tauer, you could make his shoulders raise a bit at the end of the idle animation (to make him a bit bored of not fighting/you know Doomhammer).

Good idea, it seems more fitting for a Stand - 2 animation though. This is Stand - 1 and as such it should be very idle, as in he shouldn't really move much. Otherwise it looks weird since it loops over and over again.

Some pictures before I sleep.
Made a bit more movement in his shoulders and rotated his hip a bit more.

Any thoughts on this idle animation or do I move onto the next one?

Yes, but that depends on your choice mostly.

Another thing, that hammer looks great as you chose to make it right now:)

As for the idle animation (if the seniors have nothing against it), you could move on to the next if you feel like.

no , buddy , i don't think ur texture is “garbage” . u must know that . a successful game is not decide to any one of the best arts or models - it's depend on the unified style . as i see , ur works fit warcraft very well . that's very important .
if i can control my paint style , i prefer using custom textures , too . cause in-game texture will take u more time to finding , thinking and wraping .

good work , really . trust urself , u have ur talent .

Hehe, alright garbage might be an exaggeration. What I meant to say was you're obviously very experienced ;)
But that's one of the reasons I'm doing this, to improve especially my hand painting skills. Hopefully I'll reach your level one day.
Thanks for the kind words :)

Alright, unless there are any comments, I'm finished with Stand - 1 now.

u have a huge potential with ur age , really . that's not words of comfort. u r right , experience need more practises . u know when i was at ur age , i beared huge pressure from my mentor . that's made me sad but it's still a power which encourage me to progress . the most important thing is "never give up" . when u try to draw an art . u must persist in finishing it . No matter what u think it's not good , whatever u have no mood to keep on . if u follow this , u will be success .

Yes, that is the biggest challenge for any artist I think. You are your own worst critic. I have this problem a lot. Not so much when making these WC3 models, because they actually turn out pretty good most of the time. But whenever I draw or try to make some unique 3D models, I get so frustrated because it looks like crap, and I just give up, even though if I kept at it for some time it would probably begin to look better. This is not a very good habit...

This is just beautiful man. Custom animating and making the textures yourself make your models look so unique.

Thank you very much ;)

So, a first draft of Stand - 2 animation:

It's pretty simple. Any thoughts so far?

once i had stayed a very low drawing levels for a long time . the reason why i had no progress is that i was always drawing depend on my mood , when i started to paint , i feeled bored or bad quallities with my art . then i stoped it . as a artist , u must get rid of the bad habit , DO NOT give up ur work , force urself to keep on this . u will see much diferences with urself .

and good work for this , keep on finishing it .

I think he should look the other way too, for this animation. It ends a bit abruptly. Of course, it all depends on the rarity you assign to it.
And btw, I still think Zul'jin would be absolutely amazing! You wouldn't have much of a teamcolor problem either - trolls tend to have teamcolored hair 95% of the time(unless they're old, in which case it's white), and then you just slap some teamcolor on his bracers\any cloth you might give him and it's done. :)

Looks great. I would suggest maybe having the arms move a bit more. Maybe have his head turn right slightly before returning to the default position?

Like this?

I would use something similar as it is in the bat troll but inversed, the grayish part should be tc and the colour should be white.

Yeah, Zul'jin would definately be a fun model to make. I already have some ideas running in my mind on how he should look ;)
Yeah, team colored hair is a must and I DEFINATELY would give him his awesome scarf from Warcraft 2.

Sorry, not entirely sure what you mean. Are you talking about Doomhammer or Zul'jin?

OK, so I started on the walk cycle. I figure I might as well get it over with :p

Now this is still very, VERY much a WIP.

Not entirely sure what to do with his right arm. I could move it forwards and backwards like his left, which would look more realistic I guess, but I can't help but feel he would look stupid waving that big ass hammer back and forth. Any thoughts?
God I hate walk cycles haha
