Stable

This is a simple stable building that will be added to my medieval buildings pack. It has four horseboxes, a storage place, a small stable alley in the middle, a living part for the grooms and a hayloft under the roof. The rough concept/inspiration for the model was the stable model from 'The Settlers 7'.

To add horse models (or whatever you want) to the building use the following attachment points:
-First horse (Hand Right Ref)
-Second horse (Hand Left Ref)
-Third horse (Foot Right Ref)
-Fourth horse (Foot Left Ref)

The model only uses ingame textures (for low filesize) and has a portrait camera, team colour, attachment points (Overhead Ref, Origin Ref, Right and Left Refs for Hand and Foot and the five Sprite Refs), a death sound and the standard animations (Stand/Birth/Death/Decay).

Updates:
-Added death sound
-Fixed internal name
-Added four attachment points for horses
-Darkened geosets in death and decay animations
-Added 'stand work' animation with chimney smoke, lights from the windows and falling straw

Pls give credits, if you use it in your map.
You are allowed to modify it as long as you give credits.

Models looks stable. But where are the horses?

I didn't wanted to add horses because of the big additional filesize it would take. So now instead I added attachment points where you can add horses through an ability. This way you are also free to use the horse models you want or you can leave some of the places empty if you want, etc.

This.

I'm surprised no one has really done this, but I'm glad you have. A Stable is a great & necessary addition to Wc3. In-game textures, basic animations, and the attachment points for horses? Win.

The only thing I might change is adding a Work animation, in case someone wants it not only as a "tech requirement" building but a "training mounted units" building.

nice! The underground looks strange on snow maps though. Is it possible to change the building animation to human wc3 style? Is it possible to change the angle of the stalbe? Similar to most standard wc3 buildings 45° to the right or left.

I love it! But, yeah, a work animation would be nice.

4/5.

Yea I could add a work animation if you want, though at the moment the only idea I have for it is to add a smoke effect to the chimney. Or does somebody have a good idea what to do else to distinguish it more from the normal stand animation (without having to add to much additional stuff / filesize)?

Removing the underground and turning everything is easy. The building animation would require much more work or maybe just someone with more knowledge with merging model parts, either way nothing I'd like to do.
So if you want a version with the turning and without the underground I can make you one. But if you also implicitly require the special building animation then I can't help you, sry. Maybe someone else can help you with that then.

Thanks :) A turned version without underground would be nice. Maybe i can find someone else to change the building animation afterwards.

PS: i tried to add a horse but when i used the first attachment point the horse was on top of the building ? :D

Is it possible to use falling hay (from the upper part of the building) as work animation?

Just smoke out a chimney and light out a door.

I'm glad you're not one of those modellers who, once approved, pulls a 'honey badger' and just doesn't care. :p

In terms of Work animation, few thoughts:
  • Chimney smoke = always a good standby
  • Light out open door isn't too bad
  • Hay falling down is great
  • Stablehand moving through aisle & picking up boxes to take inside; I know it might be a bit much, since you're trying to keep KBs down...
  • What does a Stable need? Horse excrement cleaned up. xD So have a pile of 'refuse' being tossed out the back? :p
  • *(perhaps as a joking Greek mythology (and Scott Westerfeld's Leviathan reference with the above, having a quick flood of water gush out to clean out the garbage.

Meh , some thoughts.

Thx for the ideas I'll see what I can do.

Ok, I'll make the changed version for you after I added the work animation.

Here's your 45° turned verion without the ground part.
@Attachment point: Are you sure you used 'Hand Right Ref', etc. and not one of the Sprite Refs (these are for the fires)?

I am having a similar issue, I think its to do with the Straw4x4.blp texture. What is the proper path to import it to?
