I think you should make the second model, that rename animation "attack one" to "attack two" and "attack two" to "attack one". Then you can make a skill toggle mode like 1st skill of troll (dota)
Because, if there is no name-changing, the alternative-form just enable 'combat - attack 2' don't show attack info ingame

Hey guys, if you wanna make him attack close range and distance, you simply need to give it a skill that allows him to attack close range. If you use a searing arrow or a cold arrow, you set the range to 100, and use the animation of attack two, you have 0 problems It works. And as for the model! I have loved this model in all of the times ive seen it 5/5! ;D

There are only 2 problems with this model, IMO. The wrap on the inside of the rifle looks like crap and is very-easily seeable.

The death animation plays a liiiiittle bit too slow.

It's impossible to set a minimum range ONLY for rifle (attack one). Like I said the minimum attack range is defined for both attacks (rifle + bayonet), so when you set it this way you will only be able to shoot the rifle from 100 minimum distance and when the target gets to 50 - nothing will happen, because minimum range is 100 (for both attacks).

Well, meanwhile I got another idea, but it's not automatic. You can give him a skill that changes the rifleman into... the same rifleman that attacks with second attack instead of first one. I mean a button for switching attack modes, but it's not automatic...

Should just be able to use an existing ability, no triggers needed. Just like Druid forms or Robo-Goblin, basically.
