sodium lithium boron silicate hydroxide

just like any chemical that can be described in terms of bonds that physically exist it can be made and sustained under certain conditions even if for a fraction of a second.

this by rights is not kryptonite because kryptonite does not exist. that name of kryptonite was given to it from the planet he come from or from krypton (tho there is none in it) or something but basically this is just coincedence that this exists. i doubt very much if it is green and that it sucks peoples powers from them but its an intresting coincidence none the less.

they cant call it kryptonite because this is a missleading name that does not work with the international chemical naming standards so it cannot be used.

What I don't get is why they're calling it "Jadarite" If it has the Exact same chemical formula as Kryptonite, then why not call it Kryptonite? :emote_huh:

Discuss.

The substance has been confirmed as a new mineral after tests by scientists at the Natural History Museum and the
National Research Council in Canada.

But instead of the large green crystals in Superman comics, the real thing is a white, powdery substance which contains no fluorine and is non-radioactive.

The mineral, to be named Jadarite, will go on show at the the Natural History Museum at certain times of the day on Wednesday, April 25, and Sunday, May 13

That's why.

Also, it was found near Jadar in Serbia.

Krypton is a noble gas, meaning it has full electrons in its outer shell, which is why it is so unreactive. The naming of the planet Krypton in superman is a joke with this in mind; Kryptonians were a "noble" race who were unable to "react" to their own impeding doom.

The reason it was called Kryptonite in Superman is because when the planet exploded it sent a few shards along with Kal'El into the worm hole generated for his flight. When he fell the shards also crashed to Earth as a meteorite; Krypton + meteorite= Kryptonite.

Interesting, I never thought of it like that. Is that a fact, or a good guess?
