The highest i've seen is 8000 people.

GM Island is a small island created by Blizzard as an all-purpose hangout for the GM's. It contains (on the live servers) a portal to every major city. GM's also get infinite gold, any items they wish, and that includes the Twin Blades of Azinnoth, which are different from the ones dropped by Illidan (they've been in the game since beta and have way better stats).

You can do all of that stuff on a private server. I am a GM on my server (obviously), so yeah.

They hide those parts because they're not ready to be introduced into the game yet. Same with the Emerald Dream. It's in there because it will be eventually, but for now it's off limits.

I said im supporting playing, not making. end of story.
"I will not condone it, but I will bask in its benefits."
"You shouldn't sell drugs, but it's perfectly ok to buy some."
@Topic even if it got a bit away: Private servers are funny, but i think people on the just too scared of REAL challenge^^.
Because clearly, WoW gaming is HARDCORE TO THE MAX.

I'm actually in a mixture of season 3 plate and warrior tier 3.

And I wanted a frosty-like sword of my own. xD

IDK, I went to GM Island on live realms on a trial account with an edited flight path for the Zeppelin saved in the mpq, and the place had NO portal to anything, just an empty house. That was done a year ago however.

Nope.
Is Bloodlust the one with Thaurissan?

EDIT: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Jubei'Thos&n=Schmelzgesic
Here's a link to my armory :p.

Yeah I think it has Thaurissan, but the server must be dead or something because you rareley see anyone from that server in a bg lol.

Ah well, just I knew soggytoast from our old server, Aman'thul, though after BC he played his blood elf paladin on Jubei'thos, lol he was in the original making of that leeroy jenkins video.

Edit : Very nice personal ratings btw

I was trying for Gladiator last season, stopped at 2.2k, then met with some team who played Shadow Resistance gear on us, dropped to 2.1k, then kinda stopped because I was busy IRL as well.

Alfred, having been there on the Live servers at the last chance before it got you autobanned (they added this with a patch some time ago) I can testify. There is a portal there to every major city, alliance and horde. So that means portals to: Orgrimmar, Thunder Bluff, Undercity, Darnassus, Stormwind, and Iron Forge.

I never got auto-banned with my trial account going there. I've even shared the trial account with all of my guildies so they could take turns to check the island out, and the account never got banned or D/C'ed, until the 10 days period was over.

So I'm assuming I'm 10 patches old?

Now let's look at logic-wise, why would they need portals there, when they can teleport anywhere with just a command?

The commands aren't as reliable as you'd think, and they require you to type in coordinates (unless they've changed them). On private servers, most of the Core's come preloaded with coordinates set under the names, so all you have to say is .recall port placenamehere and most of the popular options, such as Illidan, Naxxramas, etc, are available. I think it'd be way faster for them to use a portal than to type in the coords if I was a GM.

Ben, check this out. :)( my mana pool sucks when wearing Shadow Resist gear.)

Second screenshot is basically me turning into a frog from a pet. :p Did that when guild was taking a break between bosses.

EDIT: GM Island screenshots dated October 2006.
They were all done on Jubei'Thos on a trial account. This account was then shared among my guildies so they could have a look around. Apparently Mind Vision's range was almost infinite back then as I could MV my trial account character from Desolace.

Oh snap nice work alfred, but wouldn't a 3 dps set-up lose to a 1 dps, 2 healer set-up? Because if someones at the reselience cap 2 healers should be able to out heal burst damage from 3 people. Or do you have a specific CC rotation that prevents it?

Just hit my warlock 70 yesterday and already getting 1500 + ratings on it, with quest / boe greens and blues, running with a frost mage.

Not that good of ratings yet but if I can do so well with such terrible gear I will probly get to the higher ratings fairly fast.

Note that I'm on BG9 ><

It's very easy to farm 1 dps 2 healer set-ups. The 1 dps has to be a Warrior because if he isn't, we'll just play out-lasting via Viper Sting and Mana Drain.

I'll normally have the 'instant healing' classes set on focus for Silence, etc Druid, Priest.
The Warlock will have casting healer classes set on focus for Spell Lock.
On start, we just dispel or put dot on the Warrior so he doesn't get the Charge in. With that done, we'll just apply one full rotation of dots (UA, VT, SWP, Corruption, Siphon Life, Curse of Shadows (to counter resistances)).

Normally during that time, the Hunter will pop his BM shit which makes him immune to CCs, while casting Aimed Shot. When Aimed Shot hits, we'll just both do the silence/interrupts at the same time, then just do Mind Blast + SWD, and Shadowburn. With the Aimed Shot debuff on, it's very unlikely that he can be kept alive for very long after that burst.

My dots can tick for about 900ish every 3 seconds, 1k or something on zerker stance Warriors. The Warlock's one does a little bit higher than mine.

2 ticks will yield 4k damage from both of us combined, then with Mind Blast + SWD combo, which does 3k themselves combined, will be about 7k damage done to the Warrior. Shadowburn for another 1k or so will bring the Warrior down to 3k health or so, that's when we'll just keep our Mind Flay, Shadowbolts being casted on him, while the Hunter just keeps pewpewing away.

Should he survive the burst, we'll still survive by trying to drag him out of LoS of healers, that way he'll run back. Which then our dots will continue to tick and very hard to heal through without mana inefficient heals. We'll just normally wear them down, or just do a second round of burst with the Warlock fearing one of the healers.

TLDR version: It works.

Well after reading that, you defintly convinced me it works. Very organised set up too.

Edit : Is you're warlock friend SL / SL, SM / Ruin, UA, or?
