I'd like to see something more interesting, rather than the usual "grab a hard brush and start painting something" scheme. Something other than drawing people or monsters, for example.

Maybe draw a city, like Dalaran, from a distance. Like from Archimonde's view in the ROC cinematic.

Medieval city maybe? I draw medieval citys a lot

But not just a random medieval city. I would say a steam-punk city, but we already had a steam-punk art contest. Maybe we could have another one?

xD If there was one no point of taking the same theme with some variation. Medieval city, define it a bit and whoila you have a theme.

war machine sounds pretty good, then again, i want something organic.

i could judge if anyone wants me to. then again, i am no mod and i cant judge my own work cos i will be entering myself.
maybe just a critique.

Judges may generally not participate.

But i guess it shouldn´t be a problem to get some judges as soon as the contest is hosted.
I could offer myself for hosting and/or judging, if that is needed.

However, Demons & Heroes sound interesting.

Demon... if I'm gonna make a demon, that basically means... I can do anything! ^^ But if theme was Devil, hmm...then I would draw a evil red guy with horns and red eyes, raaar! Demons can be just anything... demon "disguised" as a cat, ellephant, table, water or even cake...

I think Favorite Warcraft Unit would be great. (notice: left off the "3", so people could draw anything from Wc1 Necrolytes to WoW Tauren Druid).

The only problem with that is, the judging criteria would have to be really broad, since the subjects could be just about anything...

heres some ideas...

Beast concept = you invent a beast (furry thing maybe)
Desert concept = you invent a unit found in the barens or in the dessert, like sand lizards, dinasaurs.. etc..
Invent a race = you create a new warcraft3 races (an humanoid) so make a drawing of a female and a male of your invented race..
Magic Creatures = draw a magic creatures that could be found in ashenvale.
Stone concept = Draw something made out of stone = Stone giant, city made of stone, status, etc..

We could draw something titled 'caravan' or 'voyage' in a medieval sense. Like a desert caravan or just a loner traveling somewhere or anything connected to the theme. That would give a broad spectrum of possibilities, me thinks.

I suggest we keep the suggestions shown in the poll.
The poll will close on 02-18-2009.
The choosen theme is a proper topic for the next contest, the other ideas are discussable after the end of the next contest.

The first concept art (mini) contest was about an "An epic battle scene".
That´s scenery.

The second one was the steam punk one.

I fracking haaate drawing cities. Too much emphasis on lighting and perspective and so forth, things which I suck at. Also, cities strike me as more a terrain-y thing. I know concept art CAN be for structure design and so on, but I prefer to do creature things.
