New Race

I'm NOT asking how to make a new race, I'm simply asking for ideas on what would be the best way to make this happen:
I need a race which wouldn't be build-a-base race, but more offensive than building and upgrading buildings, but that is balanced and not too powerful.
Any ideas are appreciated.

Well, the role that buildings fill is that they are a permanent investment(except for undead in some cases). Thus, you need units that are not very useful in combat, but still hard to kill without special equipment(siege weapons) and that give a long term boost, but nothing direct.

One possible idea is making a big fat unit with no attacks that can passively heal allies.

Also, another thing about the role of buildings is that if they are discovered, then they can be destroyed. They don't rapidly change position or it would be a scouting nightmare.
Thus, slow.

Make sure they have a really strong main or it can heal or something, because in a base race...if they have only 2-3 buildings, game over.

Also if they don't need many buildings you're going to need a different type of constraint to hold back the high tiered units from being made too early.

all dragon race? or all race that can transform into beast, bug , or anything? :D

A burning legion race.

You would start as a cult of of 2-3 units.

You need to make portals to summon more units. For making protals you might need magic. Like killing units and storing there souls in soulstones and using its power to make portals.

Different type of portals can summon different kind of units. Rather than resources, you could sacrifice soulstones or make your worker units pray there for summoning.

At the end, you could spawn really powerful demons.
