And for those who don't have the time to begin the mapping and whatnot? That doesn't help much. Honestly, I say we just make a list, knowing the strengths and weaknesses of each unit before throwing stuff out there.

Basic melee: murloc/murgul - quick, light units. good as cannonfodder
Medium melee: naga myrmidon - basic naga unit, but has more health and attack power than murlocs. normal myrmidon abilities.
Advanced melee: Naga Royal Guard - upgraded version of the myrmidon, with normal abilities, plus summoning water elementals, and maybe some sort of enrage spell.
Siege: Either golem or dragon turtle- Both would be able to shoot rocks at the enemy (turtle already have that function), and turtles can swallow enemies to heal damage over time.
Basic Ranged: (open for discussion)
Spellcaster: Naga Sirens - have multiple abilities, including some sort of mana/frost shield and parasites
Air: Coautl - the only air unit the naga have ever had. Has no abilities.

Heroes: Tank - large naga able to take hits. Should have some way of distracting enemy units, like Taunts or having an aura that weakens their attack power.
Disruptor - quick, agile unit able to get in and out quickly. Should have poison abilities, and maybe some nets to stop enemy movement. May not have to cloak.
Spellcaster - Able to wield many different spells focusing on water or ice. may summon water elementals or revenants (to be slightly different from other spellcasters). Could have Blizzard, Frost Shield, and Frost Nova. Spells open for replacment depending on other water spells.
Sea Witch - ranged hero with Forked Lightning, Mana Shield, Frost Arrow, and Tornado.
Attacker - Naga Deathknight previously serving the Lich King. Melee attacker and has many abilities, like summon Ghouls (timed), Death Coil, Vampiric/Command Aura, and Death and Decay.

I would rather vote for golem then turtle. Though we can even use murloc catapult (model exist) and give golem a different role? Oh and instead of disruptor should be Deep Stalker and think he should have cloak and maybe better poison type of attack. Coautl actually serves also as anti magic unit.

And ok no to the contest idea but I am still going to at least start on naga for this weekend.

Well that was also suggestion for the model also. And yea bows and crossbows aren't effective underwater but we'll still give them a basic range unit (balance over lore). Though won't we have two casters? We could use regular siren and male spellcaster misha made and use summoner (the other siren) as worker.

Uh and what would be the use of deathgrip in wc3? Maybe if it did the damage or something but still must admit it sounds more like rpg ability not rts. And yea channel ability like death and decay doesn't fit strength hero, but still think we should try to think more unique spells.

If I recall correctly, the Death Knight was turned into a more well rounded class, and fits the role of tank, healer, disruptor, and caster. I was just using spells from tWarcraft 3, since I don't know what deathknights have aside from summon ghoul and some frost abilities.

Death Grip could be like the net spell, in that it captures a unit and damages them over time.

And why not Death and Decay? They need an level 6 spell, and that one is good against units and buildings. And remember, these are naga. What they learn would be different from other races.

Not death and decay cuz that's channel and mana heavy intelligent hero ability. Simple intelligent heroes have usually aoe damage spells (can be channeled or instant) and summon units. Strength heroes usually have quick spells that are low on mana and often have abilities that make them or surrounding units capable of survival. And agility heroes are probably closest to heroes from RPG games since they often are equipped to survive and deal damage very fast.

Of course there are few exceptions.

So, for a Naga Death Knight, we need to pick spells that work for his race and class. I think these spells would work.
Death Coil, Unholy Aura, Vampiric Aura, Summon Ghouls, Raise Dead, Frost Nova, Frost Shield, Spike Armor, Impale

Summon Gargole would be interesting, but they don't tend to last long against ranged units. I've had whole groups get slaughtered by Night Elf Archers. That's why I resort to strike and flee over the trees.

True but ghoul murloc still looks more undeadish (though it is ugly and has hero glow) then blue skinned murloc (that skin seems more alive then wow version). Ah well that is the often problem with model searching, you almost never find what you need and have to decide what looks slightly better.

pick something simple to give yourself a starting point. When you are confident you can add detail to a shape, and even create objects around you, then you can begin on something as detailed as a building or character. Much easier to start off simple rather than with a tank. :p

Sorry but no...

On the bright side I started to work on race and it is going nice, I admit I am having fun with some of my ideas but those won't be in race, just for me to have something till all units are settled. (yes there is death knight so don't worry.)

Ok this is just a start. Anomaly, golem, forth hero and more aren't added yet and there are few extras that might be removed. This post will be divided in 3 parts

Economic Units:
-Adherent: Worker unit. Summons buildings and gathers gold. Currently uses Naga summoner model.
-Slave: Secondary worker. Gathers wood and for now can make tower(Tidal Guardian) (well there are to many building in Adherent list already).
-Slave Wagon (Turtle): Serves as lumber drop point, can be garrisoned by slaves. Think of it as mobile burrow (needs to be "grounded" to use these abilities). Also in-game it has attached Murloc Hut on its back and when grounded it lowers itself to the ground.

Military units:
-Reaver: Just a default unit for now.
-Snap Dragon: Default unit. Will be Arbalester (Naga with crossbow) when model is finished.
-Myrmidon: Elite melee unit. Can be upgraded to Royal Guard.
-Deep Stalker: Invisible till attacks, has poison and is really fast but not durable much. Not approved unit and it might be scraped.
-Murloc Catapult: Slave operated siege machine. Not approved unit and it might be scraped. Guess Golem will be siege instead...I must admit I like ranged siege idea better
-Sorcerer: Supportive spell-caster. No spells yet.
-Siren: Offensive-caster. For now just has parasite.
-Couatl: Suggest to be Anti-caster, Air unit.
-Reptilian Scavenger: Suggest to be air to air unit. Doesn't have a name actually.
-Sea Drake: Suggest to be ultimate flyer. Think of Chimera, Frost Wyrm or Gryphon rider

Heroes:
-Death Knight: Well since Misha would kill me if I didn't use it its great idea here he is. Will probably have Deathgrip, Icetouch, Mur'ghouls and Frost Wyrm...yea i think he'll need more attention.
-Warlord: Ok yes I am using Misha version cuz its 100k smaller. Have no idea what he will have.
-Sea Witch: For ow just a standard though I think we could replace at least one spell.

Ok there yo go. Its not much but its a start. Some units are missing though I would like you to reconsider anomaly thing duo to map size. I mean 4 models for 1 unit would be to much, not saying to remove it completely. Also remember these list is not decided so many of these things will be replaced, changed and what not.

For the seige golem, I was thinking. To be unique and not just smash everything, why don't we have it shoot water? More specifically, pressurised water, since that is what is used to cut metals and rock. I think it'd be good on buildings, and even better on light units. lol

For the air units, the dragon-like things don't look like anti air units. I think we'd need something a little more aquatic for that. Something that doesn't have legs or a ranged attack.
