Messenger Plus virus!

Hi all. I downloaded and installed messenger plus! for Windows Live Messenger. It got to about 75% and avast popped up and said some stuff about Mal-Ware or Trojan, some virus... Any ideas why the makers of this "Addon" would attack us?

Messenger Plus has always been bugged and probably still is. i wouldnt worry about it. and if you do get any problems sue msn.

My messanger plus was spyware, full of ads and loggers yes. Make sure you dl the REAL thing.

Well the whole messenger is a bit full of exploitable weaknesses...

It can be crashed with minor spamming and it is even possible to have your account damaged so you can no longer log in...

So I would recommend using some other program for chatting

MSN is not the best thing in the world and MSN Plus is trash, don't install that.

MSN Plus is basically a way for more viruses to enter your computer, even ignoring Messenger's horrible protection to start with

I've never obtained a virus through msn.. most of my mates have but i never have before so you probley downloaded a Fake Installation or it came with a script that downloads viruses.

Download Windows Live Messenger, as Messenger Plus is NOT made by microsoft, and the whole thing IS a virus.

Why would they do this?

Fucking duh, why else? They give you something that you want to download, so you have incentive, and then they disguise the virus as that very thing.

It's trashware, don't bother with it.

If you install MSN Plus do not install any Scripts with it.

if you obtain the virus log in on it fast then remove the scripts in the script options and it should remove the virus alert.

'Plus' is an addon package, it is NOT a different version of MSN.
