The games you must be trying to play must be requiring an active internet connection. The only solution is to play games which do not require an active internet connection or have some form of offline mode.

For more help you will need to specify which games you are trying to play without an internet connection and what errors they are throwing at you.

Is it at all possible to get the computer access to internet, even if for a few minutes? Apparently once an online account has been created you can play some games offline. I know this is how the Xbox 360 works but I am not sure about Windows 7 (have no Windows Live games I play regually).

i didnt create an online account for fable 3 in vista. i know how the xbox 360 works though and there online accounts arent needed to play xbox 360 games offline. i actually have 2 offline accounts on my xbox 360 that i use to play fable 3. online accounts are only needed to buy games online and to play xbox live gold games.

I can not see any mention of programs that support Games for Windows - LIVE working differently when run on Windows 7 than on Vista.

Does your computer have the Windows Live client installed? Perhapse you can only create an offline account when the client is installed. You could also try transfering your Windows Vista offline account to your Windows 7 machine and logging in with that.

games for windows live comes with windows 7 though.
Yes but I do remember receiving multiple updates to that system via the automatic updates feature of Windows. A good place to start would be to check for updates (they might be under the optional updates section).

i didnt even consider trying to transfer the profile from vista to windows 7.(do you know where i can find it.)
Neithor do I, I advise looking up on their support website or asking Microsoft about this.
