First of all, I'd think to thank everyone for entering. The contest was quite a success, with over 30 entrants.


For one reason or another, the following contestants have been disqualified:

XS-Archangle (Didn't provide his submission in his post).
Billy the Cat (Used a knockback system).
Aspard (Used a knockback/jump system).

GRATZ TO THE WINNERS


But i got a few things to say =D

i even asked if i can use xeSee here ,i didnt get a clear answer so its my fault and holding to the rules is necessary(this is no sarcasm just a fact to keep the cleaness) but its fine for me
[Suggestions: allow systems in next contests coz it provides fast and good codes and i think nearly every mapper uses the standarts of 2009 which includes in my opinion xe (the not forbidden Group- and TimerUtils)and for a good knockback its a knocksystem( writing a own just makes it a much longer and not that performant code)]

Question: could u tell me maybe my coding points? coz i only saw xd. having 9 points and i am interrested what mine had been to learn out of it for the future or if my code was fine

The balance section of this was retarded, hard to understand and impossible to balance it with melee heroes because there wasnt another player playing the enemy units.

i got 4th
hmm.. kinda scalar based results but anyway, a comment for each of those spells would have taken more time. so this was actually kinda fast
thought i would have want to know why i got some dockted ratings

For example i really took alot effort in creating a Hero with a Concept, with Spells corresponding to his story with a planned theme
so im kinda disappointed to get -3 points there but thats also a matter of opinion ....

anyway , to be 4th of 26 is quite ok but still a shame to be right below of the winner places ;<

took a look at some other ratings.. to be honest i cannot retrace many of them
for example that Kinz get 9/10 for his theme? i really liked his spell and dont want to tell its bad
but to be honest his "synenergy" wanst the most creative imo
kinda the Tinkers Ability which passivly increases the damage/effect of other spells
dunno how you rated it
also its your opinion of many things
and i may just have another
but you could have atleast calculated my score correctly ....

anyway... everybody can make mistakes

you did a fast job and i like to see the results now ... but to be straigh honest thats definitely not the best judgement i can imagine

I totally agree with what you're saying. The notion of balance is relative to a gameplay. Just like how an object's motion is relative to which plane it is moving, the Heroes balance qualification is relative to which "gameplay". By means of gameplay, I'm saying a complete game with all heroes and factors in it. Without this, it is hard to determine what is balanced and what is not...

Maybe next time there's another hero competition, no need for the balance factor, you could very well just enforce a rule that limit the damage output or range of the spells the Heroes have thereby not having submissions with Godlike Heroes.... Or point a reference to what type of gameplay the Heroes are for.

You cannot compare all heroes to standard melee heroes, since those themselves are imbalanced :hohum: and in a melee gameplay, the Heroes are not central. Technically only works if you compare it to a gameplay where the Heroes are central.

means a spell killing 3/5/7 units instantly would be imbalanced even if you edit the values
Spells should match to warcraft and got its own special not overpowered use
I took care of that, compared Damage and cooldown with similar spells
E.g. my Combusting Brood with Chainlightning
A Single targeted Spell with Stormbold
My Ultimate Summon with Doomgard and the Wardens Summon
I initialized fights between those summon and checked if the hero does have have to strong AOE or single targeted Spells directly compared to other Heroes
but all in all i think that rating is still kinda... opinion based...
i thought my hero was really well balanced
but pathetic 3 points do not look so

Your point actually proves my point lol :grin:.
In order to make sure those judgments are not biased, then the testing environment has to be in a place where the gameplay is fixed with the Heroes (just think of making a new hero in DotA and testing it by playing dota with the hero 100x)... Ofcourse this does not fully apply in a situation where you compare the heroes to standard melee heroes...

mine WAS balanced to melee heroes when there was somone playing the melee hero, but i got like a 2/5 on balance because the judges idea of balance was burning all of my heroes spells and just wacking on a non-ai melee hero, of course im gonna win, its retarded.

i also understand that my coding was bad (lots of leaks) but i got liek a 12/30 and i had great synergy and unique spells. i got like a 2.5/5 for originality, iv never seen a hero that can smmon a sword that mimics his abilities, this shit was rigged in my opinion but whatever.
 
I'd be more than happy to justify any specific ratings.

im interested why i got 60% score of Balance, dont know what should be imbalanced there
Or the 7/10 rating of the theme, i mean, they got a special synenergy which is not just a increase and affects gameplay , never seen such a synenergy before.. <.< doest seem to affect my originality score too

anyway, maybe im a perfectionist sometimes :/ i just love my livework that much

but especially i want to know why 3.5 + 3.0 + 7.5 + 7.0 equals 20.5 ;D

Lol, previously when I ask would code in GUI generally get lower scores from JASS. Either Eccho or hvo said it would be judge fairly and now it said likewise... :p

Damn, should have make it in JASS.
 
Updated first post to correct the error on my part. I'll consult Eccho as to which entry will be given third place.

dont really want to push Palaslayer from his winning place afterwards, but though i would want to be third
Let Eccho decide, but i guess ill loose due Palaslayers spell was my favourite - thought at first he would win
else i would be also happy with 2 third places
