Maybe my idea is idiotic but it might be worth a shot. As we all know, Ralle is having a hard time paying off the server bill. But what if we somehow could get Blizzard pick up the bill. And with that replacing all adds with Blizz adds. A community like this helps Blizzard selling their products, and they should have some interest in keeping it alive.

Just a thought

Nothing against Blizzard (we all owe the a lot for creating our wonderful game) but I really don't think that they give a rat's behind whether we survive and prosper or not. They are a BIG corporation and are unlikely to help ANY fan site, no matter how much free publicity it gives their products.

I think the best that we could hope for would be to somehow convince them to buy a banner ad. Ralle would know best about that.

Blizzard doesn't care about Warcraft III anymore, notice there haven't been any significant patches since the Firelord-Goblin Alchemist one a few years ago? Now it's just small fixes.

And I really don't think that Blizzard supports modding to the degree we here and at wc3c go to. I think there was even a conflict between Blizzard and the old wc3c back in the day, but water under the bridge.

So, no, this isn't going to happen.

Blizzard's soul was consumed by vivendi ever since WoW was released. How many of their original employees have left? A lot, including the lead developer of WoW. On Vivendi's site, they list games that Blizzard has made, then toot their horn about WoW. Vivendi Even the Escapist did an issue on Blizzard, one of the articles named "Exodus" (developers leaving to make their own studios.) The Escapist. Not to mention that Ghost was canceled, undoubtedly because all personal were diverted to WoW. Ever heard "A victim of their own success?" I think it applies here.

Yeah, Blizzard wrecked itself over WoW. They don't care about the game, the lore, all the work they did and everything they created before WoW. It's like they cleaned the slate with WoW and now that's their only priority. Money. That's all they want.

And that's exactly what they're getting.

Do the math folks. 9 million x 15 every month. That's A LOT of freaking money that Blizzard is raking in.

So, concluding that Blizzard no longer gives a rats ass about anything other then WoW, I think it's safe to say that they don't give a rats ass whether this community lives or dies.

I seriously doubt it as well. Blizzard completely left wc3, but they do have ladder updates or fan art every now and then, but now they are focusing on WoW. Sorry to crush peoples hopes, but here is a FAQ question that just totally obliterated mine:

This mongo .jpg was really stretching the page. I have attached it to the post so that we can all read the thread without having to scroll around a lot. In theory it's usually best to just copy the text from the original page (if possible) and then paste it here.

Fan art isn't Blizzard's doing, it's from....fans.

blizzard doesn't care about modding sites... if they did actually care, they would chase everyone for using optimizers and modifying World Editor which is a hacking from blizzard point of view.

ah blizzard is going for money only... what would you do as a game developer, make a game making alot of money, or make a fun game? of course the first one, unless you are idiot

Jacek, you're missing a point. By popular demand, Blizzard could do a Warcraft IV, if some non-greedy souls still live inside their company, who care more about lore. The point you're missing is that Blizzard is rich, and as far as I know they said they would develop at least one more RTS (...which will probably be Starcraft 2, but still...).
But, as Brad said, with the money Blizzard has, they can develop any RTS they wish to.

If we had all the Warcraft III Community here, maybe they would help, but since we are too few (comparing to the large Wc3 Community), they won't care.

Vivendi SA (the actual company know as Vivendi) is french media company that grew since the 1850s and started as a water, building and electricity company. This explains why the new Empire Eearths are so crap and sypro the dragon is so rubish now days, as well as the Pay to Play WoW scheme.

Look at wikipedia for the entire story.
