I just recently learned how to make proper tree models, so i figured i would share some of the results with you. Basically, it has the looks of a high-res tree at a much lower size cost.

Includes the required animations to be used as a destructable tree.

Tiles used in the shot are from the high desert set made by Red Shift (which is awesome).

It's look very good on the preview and have a not so high file size, I think I'll test it and possibly adopt it.

The high res trees cost about 500 kb for one uncompressed texture, and some uses two which makes it about 1MB if uncompressed, and this models looks like them but at only 80kb... plus it has animations...

Not a low file size, but it is a wonderful model which is worth the somewhat high file-size for doodads.
    5/5.

It has a very grainy texture with a detailed alpha map and hence it doesn't compress very well.

Like someone said though, it beats using the high-res trees for one mb each!

You know you can compress the textures on b2ms highress trees manually, to reduce them to 50-100kb, dont you? And yes, they still look awesome then.

However, this model looks pretty good. Welcomed addition for my terrain, I think, especially to have some diversity from the b2m models.

Yes, i know that, but their texture layout is still terrible with lots of empty space that could be filled, and many of them use several textures. I used a compression rate of "65" for this texture in war3viewer, you could propably go down to 50 or lower if you want to, but i thought that would be up to you.
Also, as above stated, they lack animations and doesn't blend in as well with warcraft terrain.

    Glad you liked it, still!

I could propably fix a moving stand animation.

A couple of more trees are on their way also, perhaps i'll make a short variation of this one, and also i got a dead tree and an oak.
