The Epidemic Team

What is our mission?: To create the leading SC2 game, that will be seen
frequently on the custom games list. One that is fun, unique, and has a
team that is dedicated to making it the best. For all of your die-hard dota
haters out there, whether you hate the game or hate that it rapes the
custom game list in warcraft 3, there's only one way you can stop it
from taking over starcraft 2. This is to create a game that is quality work
and get a fanbase behind it before Icefrog tries to make DotA in starcraft2.
DotA is not the reason i am creating this team, the reason this team is being
created is so that we can be the first people to create a fun and quality
custom game in starcraft 2, if you're interested keep reading.

The Story:
In the year 2010, the flu virus has been
manifesting as usual, a different strain every year what else is new? Every year the flu
changes itself, and this has been
the deal for a long time. Or so it was.
As scheduled, the vaccine for the new flu was found. However, unknown to us
the vaccine had been contaminated on its way to the United States.
And thus a new virus was born.Within a day it crossed species and infected
most if not all the animals and humans on the planet.
It seemed that after 24 hours nearly everyone was infected, nearly
everyone. You and several other people in your town were able to stay uninfected, as your town was no where near any cities, where the virus struck. But that is over, the zombies can smell flesh, and your secluded town won't remain secluded for long.
There is more bad news,
the virus has a relatively long lifespan for those it infects and is airborne. The suspected degeneration of the virus is around half a year.
Your best bet is to wait 28 days for the USMC who said they would activate a rescue squad to your position.
Your mission: Survive the long 28 days and nights defending your
GPS unit so the support can get you out of there. Can you survive? Will you
live to tell the tale of how almost all civilization on the earth was eradicated?
We'll see...
Game Mechanics:
The game starts out with everyone barricaded in a general store, everyone
is a survivor at first. Take your time in the general store, buying what you
need for the first night, such as weapons, equipment, food, medicine, etc.
When everyones ready, red can start the game, after this point you are playing
for all 28 days, so make sure your ready.
One red starts the game you are teleported to one of the many bases located
around the map. You have about a minute to setup defenses before the first night.
Your mission is to survive 28 days in this base, you will loose if you all die or your
GPS is destroyed. The GPS is located in the farthest part back in your base, therefore
you must defend it. During the day you can send search and scavenge parties into the city
for find items and rescue survivors. Keep in mind that there are still zombies in the daytime!
They are considerably easier that the ones at night so stay together and keep some members
in the base at all times to defend it, and if you are not back by sun down its most likely game over.
Here are some screenshots of what the primary tileset in the game will look like:

These are not acual screenshots of Epidemic, these are
just reference screenshots to give you an idea of the tileset when the
game will be developed.

The Flamethrower Track:
The Flamethrower Track:
The Flamethrower Track:So you want to burn some zombies? well your reading
the right section. The flamethrower track starts out with hairspray and a match, im sure you've tried
this before. Flamethrowers are weak in the beginning but are incredibally effective against swarms later
in the game.
Benefits Down Sides
The benefits of the flamethrower track is that they own against hordes of zombies and against
the swarms. The hairspray and match kinda sucks, flamethrowers dont kill instantly, you are screwed
if you have more than one flamethrower, it is mainly here for the pyros that want to see fire.
The Sniper Track:
The Sniper Track:
The Sniper Track:The sniper track is very different from the other weapon types.
Starting with the M40A1, a bolt action rifle the sniper class is somewhat weak but gets insanely good
with the .50 caliber barret.
Benefits Down Sides
The benefits of the sniper track is that it is a oneshot kill to almost all mobs (except ones with
very high health, mini-boss/boss mobs). The sniper is incredibally good at taking down bosses with
correctly placed headshots. The down sides being that the M40A3 is a weak weapon, they are
horrible at close range and is pretty much useless if you have a group of 2-3 people.
The LMG track:
The LMG track:
The LMG track:The LMG track starts with the M249 5.56 mm LMG,
a powerful light machine gun with a large clip. The LMG's will get
progressively more powerful the more you upgrade them.
Benefits Down Sides
The benefits of the LMG are that they
have a very large clip and can pack a punch.
The down sides being that it has a
very long reload time, and is very inaccurate,
and has a slow rate of fire.
If everyone in the group is using an LMG
against the swarm you are guaranteed too fail.
The Shotgun Track:
The Shotgun Track:
The Shotgun Track:The Shotgun track starts with the W1200 pump-action shotgun,
this shotty pretty much one shots anything and will smite zombies left and right.
The shotguns get quite a bit better through the upgrade tree, the best
being the Pancor Jackhammer Automatic Shotgun which will destroy
face on the battlefield.Another benefit is that shotguns are the classic
zombie massacre weapon
of choice!
Benefits Down Sides
The benefits of the shotguns are they they
will one-shot nearly anything, have an AOE spray
so you can take out multiple foes at once.
You might be able to pull off all 28 days
with all shotguns if you play it right.
The down sides being that it starts as
pump action, they have short range, and the
reload time is somewhat long.
The Assault Rifle Track:
The Assault Rifle Track:
The Assault Rifle Track:Ahh, the classic assault rifles!
What's better than spraying an praying with a G36C or M16 in your hands.
Benefits Down Sides
The benefits of assault rifles are that they have
a large clip, a few shots kills and is dead accurate.
The down sides being that it doesn't do
that much damage but is good at weakening
alot of zombies because of it's clip.
It's suggested you keep one or two of
these max in each group.
The RPG Track:
The RPG Track:
The RPG Track:You're probably saying to yourself,
RPG's in a zombie game, wtf? Well that's right, there is an RPG
tree for you trigger happy's that want to see zombies flying
30 feet in the air.
Benefits Down Sides
The benefits of RPG's are that they fucking
own because you can take out aton of guys
with one shot. This is like the touch of god
when swarms come.
The down sides being that ammo is
on the expensive side, that there is only
two shots before reloading on the first
two RPG options, and it's not so great against
single targets. It is suggested that you
do have atleast one RPG per group for
when swarms come so you dont get pwned.
The SMG Track:
The SMG Track:
The SMG Track:And here we are at the last weapon
type, SMG's. Small, fast ROF, like packages of energy crammed into
a little weapon. SMG's kill fast but have small clips and it's recommended
to have one to two per group depending on your group size.
Benefits Down Sides
The benefits of SMG's is that they
have a very fast ROF and can kill
zombies damn fast. They have a medium
range and reload fast. SMG's are
great for taking down single targets.
The down sides being that they have
a small clip and arn't good at killing
multiple foes at once whatso ever.
are not going to win with all RPG's, all SMG's, or all Assault Rifles etc. If you
want to beat the game you must spread weapons out evenly unless you're
goin for shotguns only, in that case, goodluck, you'll need it.

Zombie Manifestations:
Shamblers:
| Can you say zombies? Blood sucking, brain eating, mutated zombies. Shamblers are what 99% of the humans have been transformed into, and its not pretty. Limping and sprinting towards your shotgun barrel, you’re gonna see a lot of these guys.
Starting on day one zombies will be weak and slow, over time they will get progressively stronger and faster, be prepared. Zombies have a high chance to infect it's victims, don't get hit by one of these guys. Click here for higher res picture, it looks alot better. |
The Swarm:
| The result of infected animals and insects is the swarm, a disgusting combination of what once were millions of different, thriving, beings.
Swarms will come about every 2-3 nights and you will receive a warning prior to their arrival so you can prepare the proper defense. Traps and AOE damage are a must. |
Bile Gusher:
| A bile gusher is a creature filled with infectious fluid. A gusher can detonate on demand; survivors caught in the blast radius will take large amounts of damage and will become infected. The bile gushers are played by dead survivors, not AI.
The gusher is played by survivors after they become infected and are not treated within a certain amount of time, and die. |
Vaporizer:
| Armed with four deadly scythes the vaporizer will impale survivors left and right if you're not careful. This is a boss infected. A vaporizer will spawn every 7 days. Days 7/14/21/28. The catch is that every 7 days one more vaporizer spawns than there was before. This meens that on day 7 there will be one, on day 14 there will be two, on day 21 there will be 3, and before you board the shuttle (if you make it) there will be 4 vaporizers trying to shank you.
|
Belcher:
| Over time, Bile Gushers consume corpses and other decaying matter, develuping into larger and more complex life forms, even developing the ability to float, this comonly achieved by vaporizing its stores of toxins. Belchers are played by dead survivors, not AI.
Belchers will start spawning on the 5th night and be controlled by dead survivors, if there are none then the AI will take control. |
I want all of your ideas to make this game the best
on Battle.net for starcraft 2 when it's released.
