and Eccho is swedish huh? There's a cute swedish cick in my Linear Algebra Class that I think has been checking me out. Her name's Einor (Einar?) I think it might be with an a. but this is Canada, so I imagine her first language is english, I don't think she's an international student. Doesn't really matter cause im not available but it's nice to be checked out occasionally. It's a self esteem boost. Woo off topic!

That would be cool, hosted project. but we need to make it playable first.

definitely not Elinor. it was an unusual name.

Maybe Einan? it was 2 syllables, the first definitely spelled Ein, and the second either ar, or, an, or on. Elinor would not have made me think twice about the name (but here when you hear that name you only imagine old people)

maybe you could make a system where the roots grow from the great tree of life and also i think that the heroes should start off as very small ents and then grow with each time they are reborn and maybe you could make a starting cinematic where you see a big old ent who is talking to a smaller one die afterwards and then he becomes reborn from a little tree and you then you could write in big letters made of roots who grow from the ground : "The Circle of Life"

to be nice. after 30 seconds of starving, we can flash the message "YOUR UNITS ARE SHRIVELING UP!"
 
Well... its not just ingame, I usually take pleasure in the pain of those less significant than myself. For example. Today my younger brother was opening the mail box and it got stuck so he pulled with all his might (all that a 8 yr old can muster) and it smashed him in the face. He fell over and got a bloody nose. I didnt help him I laughed. Im sure my brother would however enjoy some sort of warning like the players of ent seed.

Those are the only ones I can think of at the moment. I'll try to think of more.

did anyone finish the techtree diagrams and explanations? I thought they were going to be posted today.

There isn't much else we can do until we have them.

We can't balance them, we won't know how to price things in the scripts, we won't know exactly what to make for abilities, and we won't know what models/skins we need.

The only thing we can really do that doesnt depend on those techtrees is heroes. and e dont have much on them yet either.

We really need the techtree diagrams, and then we need to actually make the units.

So what's going on. Who has what finifhed?

well, I'm still trying to think of more abilities for the heroes. So we have eat tree as a basic for all of them. Are we including root ent? Also, I posted two of the abilities for one of the Willow heroes. If anyone can think of anything else that might work,please speak up. So far, I've run dry on ideas without going to magic based spells.

Well... I have been busy with helping Volvox with a multiboard as well. And then I'm going to do this multiboard (I think yours are easier than Volvox and mine but hey^).
So its really no problem yet? Ill try do finnish it, either today or tomorrow (school is ending this friday so I have nothing left :D)

what do you guys think would be the most efficient. To create a unitgroup matching the units which are owned by the player but also have a specific custom value, and then check in a loop what unittype it is?
Or to create a loop where you in the beginning on each lap creates a unitgroup matching the units which are owned by the player but filtering only a specific unittype?

I'd say make the unit group as units are created and remove them from the group when they die. Then the loop counts how many of each unit type are in it.

There isn't much I can do about screenshots yet, unless you want screenshots of jass code :p

We dont know for certain what the units are going to be, so we really don't know what to make them look like either. before any more screenshots can be made, we need at least 1 army list completed. so far all of the people who were working on the army lists (except the diagram by ezikielth) haven't given anything yet. they were supposed to some time yesterday. we need those unit diagrams, so that we can start on ACTUAL Units. and we need actual units before we can do screenshots.

I was reading through the information on this game and came across the section that tells you that you get water from defensive structures, and then i came up with (what i think is) a pretty good idea. Why not have rain storms every so often that temporarily increase the amount of water you get per increment?

Ill start with the multiboard for this project soonest on wednesday. Thats when i have the most time.
Today I was at the beach and could do anything more than playing beachvolleyball and take a swim. And its evening now so Ill probably go to bed soon.
Ill do as much as I can on the first multiboard so I can continue with this project as soon as possible.

You have to check the type either way, i suppose. So imo it would be better to check before putting them into a group to preserve group spaces.

I'd say make the unit group as units are created and remove them from the group when they die. Then the loop counts how many of each unit type are in it.

Volvox, I saw one thing anyway, and since im going to use all the units preserved in the unit group even if they're different, I will filter them as they have a "custom value based" ability, and then check the types anyway. Since its only will exist for such a small time ( like miliseconds), it wont affect the gameplay.

Darkholme, the unit is never dying, only changing owner. And since its a periodic event checking every 1min or so (or >1min) keeping the unitgroup through the whole game with take up memory space. Thats why Im creating a new group at every periodic event

Hello Hermit, they'll be based on the units, and following the general style of the armies. Likely the majority of the units won't be new ent models, but instead reskinned default models. So the icons will reflect that. as for what Icons we need specifically, thats another reason we need those unit lists.

we have nothing modeled/textured/iconned, cause we dont know what units we need yet.

cause they're late.

if they aren't here tomorrow night i think we need to start looking for new people do do them. We shall have to assume the buggered off without saying anything.

as for a beta, i'd be cool with having a closed beta, but we're nowhere near ready for that yet. we basically have a script system and no armies.

Drat, workers ditching the project silently, really slows us down. I think we need to find some more reliable people. Sadly, I am not good at creating a unit techtree that is balanced. :(

A closed beta sounds good. But, what about the Battle.Net Group? Would it be possible that they can test it, or are they to be considered too public?
