Double posting idea

I think i have an idea how to make people not double post! Example: A noob makes a thread:My awsome new orpg...nobdoy posts in ages then the noob:damn i am gona ask them why nobody posts? when he clicks the post button an error shows up and says if u want to double post then that is a bad idea plz use the edit button.If u want just make an auto command that he gets - rep.That was just an example!

You need to mess with vB, which is a reason not to do it, if it is even possible.

I don't think double posting is a grave enough offence to even possibly be worth the trouble of implementing something like this.

Triple posting ? if i want to bump my post i just delete my last post and post it again.

There is no need to change anything with this double posting thing... Always when a new person joins the site and double posts, he will get noted and maybe even punished. If they don't stop after that, then they just fail

I don't think it's a grave problem either. Bumping is not abused and mods succeed in prosecuting double posters.

Double, triple and even quadruple posts can all be legitimate, particularly in project threads.

I think the best idea to get rid of double posting is to have an auto-merge feature that you can disable by unchecking a box, but most people who double post frequently wouldn't know about that.
