Cinematic Contest Idea

The user is supposed to make an intense cinematic mostly focusing on a mysterious story, where a character dreams about something, it can either be a good dream, a bad one or a very weird one.

I'm not sure if this is a good idea though, so post your idea if you want, because we haven't had a lot of cinematic contests lately.

This sounds very nice to me, although I think you should describe the theme more clearly.

Btw. this does fit to the newest terraining contest theme in a way.
(just an idea (might not too good though): We could consider combining those two contests?)

Well as said, the dream can be about anything but has to be mysterious and it's supposed to confuse the user in the beginning.

Hmm well how do you want to use the terrains?
You want the terrainers to make a cinematic using their terrain or something?

Also I'd rather want a normal cinematic contest than a paired contest, because they never went out well.

Yeah, this might be right. THe terrainer still could give ideas after finishing the terrain itself, but however it was only an idea and you're right, this might not be a good idea. Let's wait for other opinions, huh?

I can for example create terrain, map preview, edit sound files and stuff like that, I just need to find some dude that will create triggers and do hard work

Well.. I personally don't like the dream idea. But a mysterious and confusing cinematic is something I'd enjoy watching. Basically because confusing the audience isn't easy, it requires brainpower. One may confuse somebody,only if he outsmarts them, which makes the contest a lot more challenging for the contestants.

But Kael, you should have said more about the theme.. When I read (red) it, I pretty much had to come up with the rest of it It ain't clear enough imo.

It would be nice to see some of the terrains from the Terraining Contest with a cinematic done over them, but that is also a negative factor to the author of the cinematic. It makes him kinda less creative.. lol

Well, I would gladly join this as I find the theme to my liking but sadly the World Editor has become too boring for me to work with.

Anyway, this theme sort of reminds me of my Clown of As'Latur cinematic which is why I would gladly join. As there aren't many cinematics themed like this it might bring a nice addition to the map section (should there be enough contestants, good contestants at that).

All in all, despite me not getting involved, I would like this contest to be held, simply because I wish to see the outcome. A weird dream theme or something in that category would be splendid.

However, as has been the case twice before, it is a good idea to make sure that there will be at the very least three participants which will surely, 100% complete their submissions.
The last contest ended with two submissions and the one before that with only one.
Keep that in mind.

All the major cinematic contests in the past has failed, so I doubt this one would be any different. I can support a mini-contest for cinematics, but a larger one, nahh, they always fail, time and time again. I might even be interested in entering a mini-contest, pending on whether or not I win the current mapping contest ;P

Well since summer vacation will soon be over for me, I think we should get this contest started whatsoever now.

So,... same idea? The thing with the dream and all. I think a duration between 1 minute and I don't know, 4 minutes.
The theme can be anything, either a bloody, or a happy storyline. It just has to be a dream.

And no, please no paired contest.

Well, you can do everything with Warcraft III's editor. Can you do way more than everything with Starcraft II's editor? xP

Regardless of Starcraft (I loathe futuristic games anyway, apart from Mass Effect) the War 3 WE has just become boring. Bring out Warcraft 4 and see the gears rolling again.
