We just had a Cinematic Contest #3. This would be #4. Also, I don't think you can judge this, since you are no moderator or a globally respected user (no offense). You could host it though (I think) and look for someone to take your place as judge or just go with 1 judge instead.
If that is fixed, I might consider joining.

PS: Edit the Contest Prizes and Winnings. Second and third place now also get an award icon. If that's you it's still in the default contest lay-out, I'll ask if someone edits that to prevent further mistakes with that.

Then... It's number 4!

But why do you have to be a moderator to judge?
I won't join this contest myself if I judge, and I don't give friends a higher rating or something...

Well, we can't just rely on anyone and moderators are not allowed to judge one over another. I don't say I don't trust you, but people attach more value to the judging of a moderator then someone who hasn't been on the Hive for too long.

Okay I understand :csmile:

@ Rui,

I thought very high Rep wasn't allowed.
So could you edit it for me how it should be?

And if I don't judge, I'll join :cgrin:

Ehhh, out last one wasn't great. Perhaps if we can get a list of people who promise to participate? If there aren't enough entries when we host this, I won't give out awards.

Well if the contest is going to start soon, I'll won't participate. For the time being, I rather keep my eyes fixed on my FFIX project. But if it starts about half-end juli, I'm willing to go for it if I get an idea for a cinematic (no chapter for Cecile this time, because the theme doesn't fit in that serie).

@Aeroblyctos: You've got to be kidding. You will get no quality at all if you want to make a cinematic in a week. The second contest took 2 months and the 3rd took even longer.

I don't aim for a high quality cinematic at all. I'm aiming for an enjoyable contest where people will actually finish what they have started. I don't like contests that are so long and only few people finishes something.

I think the contest where that cannon map(don't remember it's name) won was a success(expect the flame of course). The contest was small enough to summon a lot of people to join and finish their entries.

Read the entire sentence. I'll won't participate if it starts too soon.

But people will likely want voice actors. And knowing that there are quite some people who do a very long time about that, will likely cause the participant's will to continue to fade. I'm also really not looking forward to making, leave alone viewer or voting on the worst cinematics I'll see for a long time. There will probably indeed be a lot more people participating if you set the quality so low, but you will not get anything satisfying from it.
My prediction with week-cinematics: A cinematic with little to no camera movement, barely any creativity, awful use of imported models, as good as no special/sound effects, crappy triggering, no timing testing at all, and having that playing on a worthless terrain.

I'm sure people are thrilled to see that and it would certainly vote for the best cinematic! (sarcasm)
It would just enhance people to vote for whoever they like best because they have no interest in checking dozens of crappy video's, and the judges have to judge more cinematics and comment much, much more per cinematic. So you'd do everyone a big favor not to make this a week-cinematic contest.

Are you seriously asking? I would say Theme is about 60% of the judging criteria but whatever. It's like there's a cinematic contest with theme of Drama and Sorrow, and you make an Action packed movie filled with romance and comedy. Doesn't really fit.

Aero, that's your choice. But I'm sure to post at least once in that thread to notify people of the consequences of a mini-cinematic contest. Because the mini represents minimum quality. It's not to bring you down, but it's to make sure we keep quality contests here. Contests to show skill, and skill needs time.

Good point. Cinematic Contests should be relying most on professional judges more then any other contest, because it's the contest where people need to do most work to get a proper idea of what they're voting for. Other contests like the Phoenix Trials and Terraining Contests can give a very good idea of the actual entry by just posting the image or screenshot here.

I misunderstood, i thought for a second that team was what kind of cinematic you made, like one made an action story of and another a comedy story of would get more points etc.

No, wtf? What I mean is, theres a cinematic contest with drama as a theme for example, and you decide to make some cheesy romance movie that has nothing to do with drama. Even if its a great cinematic, I doubt it would win if it didn't have anything to do with the Drama theme.

And for the date... I've rather that it ends before the 26th.
Cuz then I'm going on vacation to Spain.
