Map Information

Short description

Cannon Commander is a turn-based WarCraft III scenario developed by Sourc[e]x (Illidan(evil)x) for
The Hive Workshop's Speed Mapping Contest #1.

Cannon Commander has been designed for two players, but is also playable by just one.

As it's a turn-based game, it is playable by two players using a single computer (Versus Mode) as well.
Gameplay

Both player are each given the control over a cannon, and must, in turns, try to take down the other player's cannon.

A new random terrain is generated every round, or by request from the players.

The wind is here to mess with your projectiles, and especially in "3D Platform Mode" it's quite difficult to hit the target spot-on.
Pay attention to the flags and the blue wind speed indicator, as the wind will be randomized by every turn and can affect the projectile by quite a lot.

* Multiplayer:

One-on-one match between two players on multiple computers.
Activated immediately if two players are found (Computers does not count as players).

* Versus:

Singleplayer option. In this mode, two players can compete using a single computer.

* Practice:

Singleplayer option. Used for target practicing and for getting used to the controls.
The player has unlimited ammunition and the ability to randomize terrain and wind conditions at any given time.

* General:
- W = Next Cameraset. (3D Mode)
- X = Previus Cameraset. (3D Mode)
- Q = Increase Power.
- Z = Decrease Power.
- D = Fine Tuning On/Off.
- E = Cycle Weapons.
- F = Fire Cannon.
- UP = Increase cannon elevation angle.
- DOWN = Decrease cannon elevation angle.
- LEFT = Rotate cannon left. (3D Mode)
- RIGHT = Rotate cannon right. (3D Mode)

* Multiplayer:
- ESC = Open request dialog.

* Singleplayer:

* Practice Mode:
- R = Randomize wind conditions.
- V = Randomize terrain.

Very fun game there was only a couple "problems" not really problems just kinda bothered me a little but its still 5/5

1)If possible you should make wind blow in direction of wind

2)
153171-albums1346.html

(the other player i was playing with said he could not see floating trees so it must be view for player 2 only)

1) Description - Neat, tidy and interesting. It even provide every single necessary detail, good work.
2) Terrain - Excellent work, with random generator; the terrain would never get bored of it.
3) Fun/Replayability - Very nice, but it would be boring after awhile. This probably because the lack of ability. Adding a ability might probably increase the replayability of it, the current game seems like you only need a good accuracy to play it.
4) Originality - For this, I would said it was about 50/50. It seems like it was a recreation of gunbound game at warcraft 3 version.

It was indeed a good material, a few more touch up and it would deserve a 5/5. My vote was 4/5.

bounty hunter2's Review on Cannon Commander 1.00

Doesn't crash
Cannon Commander 1.00 is a mini game for up to two players. Each player has a cannon at his disposal, and he must destroy his opponent. His opponent cannon is located at the other side of the hill, and that hill is separating them. You must precisely calibrate your cannon and with a few hits destroy your opponents.

The idea itself is quite original, I remember playing this game in the past, however I don't remember I had seen a map like this ever before.

The terrain fits the game, however it is nothing special. The tiles could be varied a bit better. Trees can be often seen flying high in the air or just floating.

The scripting was great, just like in your other maps. However there was a problem with the wind indeed. The clouds were flying in the same direction always, however the wind would shift. The menus didn't show the winds direction, or perhaps I missed it.

The gameplay itself was fun at the beginning, but it would soon become boring. It lacks more abilities and game modes. Perhaps various types of cannons to choose from. And the cameras can get pretty annoying when shifting to your cannon ball hit.

To conclude, a nicely done Mini Game, perhaps a candidate for the winner of the Speed Mapping Contest? I didn't see the rest but yours is quite good. 3/5 (Useful) is certanlly to low a rating to a such original and well scripted map, thus 4/5 (Recommended) and Approval.

Wow, this game is great, I like it, but maybe you could change the counter for the amount of balls you have to something in the inventory of something, because I couldn't figure out were it was until I really started to look at the HP and strength of the shot counters. Also, blues cannon turns really easily, but reds is fairly slow.

Other then that its an amazing game, I woudn't be suprised if you won the contest

Holy shit... this map is freakin' awesome.

Honestly, how do you guys do it? You get Warcraft 3, a pretty simple game, and turn it into the most interesting creations. First was Modern Warfare, undeniable proof that you were able to transform one game into a completely different one, despite the lack of... originality. Then along comes this one (as far as I know, I don't know if you guys have made any other maps or not :p).

This map reminds me of the classic worms games, only you can't move your 'worm' and only have one weapon to use. Nonetheless, the 3D option and the fact you've made it so well more than makes up for this. I just wish that you guys worked more on gameplay (despite you making up for the lack of different weapons with other features, it would have been better to have more variety and playability. After all, a map is nothing, not matter how pretty, without a good, solid gameplay).

You talk like there's two of me. :p

Creating a 'Worms' type of game was actually my original idea.
But, because of the limited amount of time for the speed-mapping competition, I had to cut it to the bare minimum, and came up with this little mini-game instead.

I may add more content to Cannon Commander later on -- after the contest has ended.

Haha, you sound like you're two people and do enough work to be two people, so I think you might as well be two people :p

Jks, jks, jks. I am happy I stumbled upon your original idea, I had a feeling that was your inspiration. How do you make such awesome maps, and all by yourself? Damn, I wish I could get the effects you get...

Perhaps you could help me? Like with triggering for awesome effects, tips and such in that regard...? Well, anywayz, just send a PM if you want :p

I actually can't believe you're just one person. You do all the mapping, triggering, modelling and EVERYTHING by yourself. I for one can't trigger and actually wouldn't know where to start with modelling :p. The only things I really can do are mapping, terraining and ultimately getting a good gameplay out of whatever resources I have at hand (I usually ask for help with triggering, though >.<)

Dissociative Identity Disorder much? Nah, just a side-effect of having various usernames at various forums. :p

Years of WarCraft modding experience. Mostly.

Skillz. You better start believe in it.

Well... I can, but I won't be the one to take the initiative. ;)

It's a great game but if the wind is blowing towards you at close to full power its impossible to get a hit on the opponent.

Okay, I am really happy to see the addition of new weapons :D

Not quite what I was expecting, but I actually find the weapons you created to be better than, for example, the choice you get in Worms (so many weapons, but almost all of them explode! Samey :S). Mind you, sending an Old Woman at your enemies to watch her explode from suspected bowel mistreatment is somewhat entertaining :p.

Having the timed one is interesting indeed, and the small one is cool, too. I wonder how many different weapons you could add with such an indepth tactical perspective? Perhaps, for a later version, there could be a Cluster Missile (heavily effected by wind, explodes to release missiles that do half damage [i.e. small missiles], does normal damage on impact), a Rolling Missile (half/normal damage, effected by wind normally/a little more, rolls along ground for a small distance... prlly not the best idea :p)... that's about it for now :p

Although, you could make missiles like the Cluster Missile and Rolling Missile a little better (i.e. Cluster Missile effected normally by wind and Rolling Missile does normal damage and is effected normally by wind) in exchange for making them take more ammunition (or whatever you call the thing you use the food to represent :p). Just an idea, if it is used, I'd thing the Cluster Missile would prlly take 2 shots while the Rolling Missile would prlly take 3.

All in all, nice map! Hope to see more weapons :p

The graphical interface is excellent, and is really good as mini-game. my vote 5/5, however it can be improved, I am currently making a map where each player builds towers for use in the same way that the cannons in this game.
Try reducing the speed of the cannon ball so you can see the shadow crossing the field without the camera follows the projectile and the effect is better, also the random terrain can be improved believe me. After finish my map, you may test it and you will see of what i'm talking about. Not my intention to compare a map that still have not uploaded yet, I have seen your other maps and the ambience is really so good that it does not seem the warcraft game engine.
