Blizzard Entertainment feels very strongly about cheating over Battle.net. We believe that multiplayer cheats and hacks undermine the basic rules of fair play and weaken any sense of true competition and online gaming enjoyment. We would like to remind everybody that the use of any third-party software in conjunction with the game to modify Battle.net and/or change game play may result in account closures and a possible suspension of access to Battle.net. Third-party software may include, but is not limited to any program that allows you to run multiple instances of the game at the same time, cheats, hacks, and/or bots. To continue our aggressive stance on cheats/hacks, we will be monitoring Custom games as well as Ladder games on Battle.net.

Awesome that they're still active on that part yet sad that they tell nothing about the very dangerous bug exploit to launch command prompts.

I thought that I'd better share it here for those who missed it.

Does this mean they will remove the flooding of SpamBots now? I am going to break something if I have to fight for peace in the lobby against those things.

I do have a question.

I know it mainly says hacks (and it's funny they posted this because the day before they posted, I reported someone for map hacking), but it also says things that modify warcraft 3 in other ways.

Does that mean that we can get banned for using thing such as Auto-Refreshers, Custom Kicks, Ban Lists, etc.? Because I use all of those...and I'd rather not be banned because I've been running them and didn't know that blizzard does not allow them.

I was going to ask blizz in the tech room, but it's Saturday, so no one is on duty.

Nobody even plays those bothosted Dotas, they are just waste of time. Most of the Dota players have move to dota-league.com, that hosts private games around Northrend, but I just couldnt play there because its "world wide" and then there are japans and so on, and they come to host on Northrend and I can play because of my slow internet speed...

banlist users are stupid. they think that high ping automatically equals to laggy games.

I've had 400 ping back home and I never lagged a single time, but only experienced delay which doesn't affect anyone else in the room.

Once there was a pro.
He downloaded a banlist.
He was no longer pro.

Seriously it doesn't work at all. Everyone can make new accounts and the amount of leavers, flamers, spammers, faggots online is so astounding you might as well bash your head against a wall till you die since that will be more effective at solving your problems than a banlist.

Its funny when people ask the host (me) to kick me from my own games because I owned them in a previous game. Then I get a friend to pretend he is host and watch the lol. Well I used to a long time ago atleast.

Anyway, ping does cause lag. If the ping of a player is above 250 the game will perodically lag due to it having to stop to keep in sync. Some apps can fix this by upping the overall ping to that of the slowest player but that ups response times.

However, banlist's ping sucks. It uses join ping or battlenet ping, which is way off actual ping. In games where banlist says I have 400+ ping, host bots say I only have 105 and thats because I am playing across the world. However I occasionally am kicked by them for high ping, due to joining lag (rejoining fixes this). Honestly people with insane ping should not be playing as it is obvious their connection does not permit them as I am on a crap internet service and get 100 ms ping with people across a whole ocean. The mind starts to boggle in fact how it is possiable to get above a 250 ms delay with any gamming configuration or connection medium. People on satalite and some wirless configurations should not game, the latency is just beyond reasonable (500 ms) and can result in you being unable to micro properly (units standing there and dieing before even trying to move).

However, people often mistake latency for "lag". Latency is delay and nowdays is seldom a problem, and will atmost result in perodic stopping and starting or excessive response times to orders (depening on if its host or player sourced). However what they call "lag" is caused by some player's connection being below the required capacity to play properly (if they are DLing something or during peek times on poor services) and results in the game pausing every so often and a waiting for player box appearing.

The only real way to tell if someone is a lagger or not is to wait till ingame and see. For latency, only in micro intense games like SWAT should it be considered, and anything under 200 ms is fine (above 250 can cause problems). Do not trust poor quality ping checkers like that of banlist, as they are inaccurate and pinging multiple times is advisable.

Kicking people before inquiring what sort of connection they are on for any of the above makes you a "noob" as if someone is on a 100 mbit fiber connection, you can be sure as hell that they will not lag even if their latency is slightly higher than other players. Also it makes you look real stupid when it turns out that they do not lag so generally it is best to shout at them when ingame.

I hate children who create custom games and give it the title "FREE PORN" or "BOOBS". I swear Blizzard should release the location of these people so we can put them in public stocks for humiliation. These players should be treated like a virus on Battlenet and dealt with as soon as possible.

I hope they ban all hosting bots. DotA games on B.net will be reduced by 70%

Good to hear, even if no one joins, my heart will be happier.

Yep. I'm from Australia, and I don't lag during games. Very, rarely. A host checks my ping on a banlist in a lobby: 250. "Wow" he then kicks me. These banlists need to be silenced.

Yes, this perverts need to be silenced. Idiots (well, actually they're not judging by the average IQ of most players over B.Net who play custom games, uh some weirdo was asking me to "rape him like his dad did" in ladder by beating him) say to host it and call it porn so that everyone will join. Theres a map called maze of porn, for the most serious perverts, and there was a game name over B.net (don't know map, stayed away from clicking name) called HARDCORE CHILD PORNOGRAPHY... Well, how brilliant, the perverts won't get tracked by the police over B.net.
