Very nice screenshots
Seems like you're making great progress.
Only thing i find kind of strange is the watchtower in the orc base...
What's it doing there?

Not sure which Watchtower you're talking about. The one in the trees is supposed to look like it's built on the roof of the enterable town building. The other Watchtower by the city wall is more of an overwatch for inside the city I guess. Seemed to be a good place to put it at the time. IMO the game looks better with the normal camera but I use fancy cameras instead to reveal more of the terrain I've completed.

This will definitely one of the things I'll do before leaving wc3.

Not sure what you mean in this post. Broken sentance!

This is my last week in school so it'll be busy for me. After that I should be free for a few days until I get hired by a job since I plan to work this summer. Need to get out of the house and make me some money!

Oh! I also added more to the lore of the RPG. You can check what I've got so far here. It's still pretty far from being done though as a whole.

Just another simple and brief progress report:
  • Moderate terrain progress in Mug'kral city.
  • PurgeandFire's Skill Mastery system is coming together nicely and is making good progress - still having issues with tooltips via multiboards though.
  • Minor lore update with The Manson Bastion, still far from complete though. Dullfar's lore will be revealed soon.

I guess when a project is more original than remaking World of Warcraft, it offers many more opportunities for new ideas regarding the story, terrain, and systems within the map itself. Whereas Wc3:WoW is kind of limiting as far as freedom to add what we want and when because it needs to correspond with each other systematically and be like World of Warcraft, otherwise it'll either not be like WoW or just get too messy and fall apart internally. Meaning, we need to start from the ground up with Wc3:WoW from the character creation system up to the over-ambitiously artificial intelligence and RvR. Everything needs to be added in order. That way future conflicts do not occur, such as running into hit chance issues or something like that when making spells because we forgot to add hit chance system previously.

On the other side, Ardent Heroes is completely unique and original, being based primarily off of our own creativity and ideas without a strict set-in-stone guideline to force ourselves to follow. However there are some things that are required to be done before other things, such as like I said above, an attack system that detects and calculates chances to hit, miss, dodge, crit, block, etc. before getting into the actual in-depth coding process of creating spells and skills that the players can learn and use in the game.

Sorry for the double post, but I feel it is necessary.

Another development update post:
  • Moderate terrain progress on Mug'kral.
  • Minor terrain progress on Forgotten Temple's interior (boss room).
  • Decent terrain progress on Land of the Dead.
  • Moderate terrain progress on Forsaken Citadel's dungeon entrance exterior in Land of the Dead.
  • The Manson Bastion human city has been started.
  • Started placing shadows near static objects such as trees, buildings, rocks, etc. for a slightly more visually pleasing effect.
  • A potentially major lore update coming soon.
  • Added most of the attachment model creators to the credits - not done yet.
  • Ardent Heroes website updated.

That's terrain progress with 5 areas of the map. Quite an update. It is likely that PurgeandFire will have a tangible BETA of the skill mastery system in Ardent Heroes ready for alpha testing (devs only) this weekend or on Tuesday, which is good news because that means PurgeandFire will soon be able to proceed onto the attacking systems (hit chance, miss chance, dodge chance, block chance, crit chance, etc.) and then finally actually working on and implementing the actual skills for us to play with!

However, despite the larger than usual update, I am afraid that closed and public BETA testing will not commence until skills and some quests are implemented. How long will it take? Shouldn't be long. We're hoping (and it is probable) to have enough done in a month.

I as well made an attack engine, right now not that strong but with a few minor updates it would be great. I will tell you when I have a beta for you to test.

Good news!

I got a good chunk of the missions/quests done about 10%ish? A lot more to do but I'm making some good progress.

I just finished another strategy filled boss fight. Expect to wipe a lot of times before getting the strategy right. =)

If you'd like to be a beta tester, don't send PM's Visitor messages to Craka, please answer the questions on this forum.

Also... Go Celtics!

Since I haven't posted a progress report in a about two days, here's another one to show activity:
  • More terrain progress with The Manson Bastion (mainly just refining and adding a lot of details than expanding it).
  • More terrain progress on the entrance to Forsaken Citadel dungeon.
  • Exterior terrain of new level 2-9 dungeon, Kar'gort Palace, in Millbrow started and is almost completed.
  • New characters added to lore thread but no details added yet.
  • PurgeandFire is in the finalizing phases of making the Skill Mastery system.

Not as much good news as last time, but no bad news to report so good news is great news!

I have work today, so later today I will get back to work on quests/boss fights. We are going to keep most of them a secret (I'm assuming) but I can't help but spill out just ONE quest. Also boss's might be released but... P&F, Craka, don't tell the strat/skills etc... Would ruin the fun of figuring it out yourself!

Anyways... Back to the quest that is going to be implemented. Hero Status! The Hero Initiation quest (Idea used from my favorite MMO [AC2] if you don't know it, it is gone. You missed out) Basically it is a VERY hard and LONG quest that you will have to do in ONE game, you can't save any of the progress you make. Only one person can do the quest per game, you fail you'll have to retry in a new game.

If possible we will try to make it after 5 times of failing you can't become a hero anymore (I'd like it lower, but was told it would cause too much ragequitting etc...)

Anywayss... Back to the point, THOUGH it IS a very hard quest, it does not come without great rewards. After finishing this quest you'll gain Hero Status, allowing you to go into the last city, and giving you access to some of the best Gear/Weapons available in the game. The city also sells the fastest mount and is where the cap. level PvP gear is sold.

The other reward is another skill point, giving you 66 skill points to choose from, though it might not seem like much, it will be VERY useful in competitive PvP.

The very LAST reward of this quest IS! A mount, the 2nd fastest mount that will be in the game (First will either be sold at the Hero city, or dropped [VERY low chance] off of the final boss in the Hero dungeon)

That is all for now, I plan to get back to work on the designs within 8-10 hours.

Cooool ^^
So if a player fail the quest 5 times, on the same character ofc, but in different games he won't be able to become a "hero" that's pretty though... still awesome reward so i guess it's fair :p
The other players can help you, right? :)

Wrong, you will gain no help from other players. It will only be YOU. But since these mobs in there are pretty hard, there will be help. A NPC will be in there either a ghost or something (Not figured out yet).

This ghost will help you out in this dungeon. Once clicked on he will ask what role he needs to play. (Tank/DPS/Healer) once chosen control will be give to you, or it might be AI, that will be the only help you get within the Hero Initiation process, after doing this part there will be another part afterward. Once that part is completed you will gain your mount from him, and your skillpoint/Heroism.

If you suck and can't do it, you'll suck for the rest of the game!

Not exactly, you can continue to PvP and do mostly everything 95%, though the BEST items from PvP will be sold at the hero town. You will have to create a new character, if you want to get another 5 shots again. You will have to learn from your mistakes to get through this, it is MEANT to be hard. You won't be seeing many heroes running around until one of the fans who made it through creates a guide for you guys.

As Professor Farnsworth would say "Good news everyone!" (Those of you who don't get the reference, Bite my shiny metal ass.)

Proud to say all the quests in Millbrow HAVE been completed, boss fights for Forgotten Temple HAVE been completed. Now all I have to do is write up the Khar'got boss fights, and Millbrow will be 100% done. (Just leaves the coders to finish up) and then we can hopefully get a beta up and out soon enough.

Though I will not give out any hints on how to receive ANY of these quests, there will be a MINIMUM of 12 quests per area. Meaning there really will be NO complaining about "There aren't enough quests".

Hopefully that is good news, seeing how I'm tired. I will finish the LAST 3 bosses (For Millbrow totaling up to 6, 3 in the Millbrow area and 3 in the Forgotten Temple) tomorrow morning before work (Hopefully) if not when I get back.

It sounds great. But what about your other little project World Of Warcraft: Warcraft III?
I'm just a little curious there, here's a +Rep for you:)

Edit: Sorry, I didn't read your post, good luck with the both projects!
