It's been a strange mix of being busy and not being around on my side. Plus i don't even like my character, and I (again) can't decide between a few ideas for a new one. Bleh.

Ok so, I could use a little background info. Was there a peace time between when the Void Lords were sealed and when Helion was freed? Also what city would tolerate a human thats been experimented on?

The Void Lords were exterminated by a world-wide revolution. Hellion and Devilak, the dragon members of the Order of the Void were too powerful for the heroes that began the revolution. Because of this, the only option led to the two dragons being sealed away within hosts large enough to contain the power and essence: other dragons. So, Hellion managed to break free after a thousand years, and Devilak soon followed. So, no, Hellion was only free for a few months before Devilak.

Cities that tolerate an experimented human? Well, any, really. Hellion's cities tolerate them to some extent, as long as they obey the rules. Devilak had a lot of necromantic experiments and side-effects last I checked. As for Misha? I'm not really sure. :/

Ok cool, but as for the history lesson, I already know that much from alot of the discussion posts I've read. What I asked was if there was a definate "peace" time between their rules. I.E., between when Hellion and Devilak were sealed and their release.

Then I'm afraid I don't know what you mean by peace time between their reigns. :/ When they were sealed up, their empires faded to little but forgotten legends, and the world changed, to one of midieval lifestyle. So, if you meant world peace, then it would technically be between their being sealed, and their release. :/

lol Thats what I was talking about. xD I just wanted to make sure that there was atleast a relative peace during that time. Otherwise I'd have to think of another reason why my character has a demon with him.

Ok so... I suppose I should put up a character to be judged. Lets see if I can make it brief. Name: Slate (Real name is forgotten) Race: Human (Or so it seems for the most part.) Pic is in Group Pics. Background: Slate was an apprentice to a mage at an early age. His mentor performed experiments on Slate, tatooing him with magic runes and modifing his body. In the end he ended up several times more powerful than he was originally, however the extent of the transformations was not reached. His mentor disappeared one day leaving him all alone and from there he decided to learn every concevieable form of magic that he possibly could. As such he has an enourmous amount of magical knowledge and is a master of several different aspects of magic as well as a dabbler in several more. His unique body grants him several powers itself as well.

~Continued~
Abilities: Master- Rune Magic, Shadow Magic, Circle Magic, Illusions, Necromancy, Binding, Spellword/Handsign magic, Sealing, and Conjuring.
Exceptional- Elemental magic (Because you can't master the elements.), True Name Magic (though it takes too much time for him to use.), and Blood Magic.
Dabbler- Chronomancy (can cast minor spells such as Time Slow and a short Time Stop.), Venomancy, Curses/Hexes, and he can manipulate raw magic to a certain extent but its incredibly taxing. Among others.... (Can't think atm) Personal: Has a high tolerance to extreme temperatures, poison immunity, disease immunity, hightened sight, can see magic, quick regeneration and slight increases to physical attributes. Downside is that most magic he uses can be unstable at times.

No time-related spells. It gives too much of an advantage, as we, the players, think in real time, and we don't want to take two turns to think or act to a simple attack.

Exceptional means excellent. And Hellion is an Elemental God of sorts, titles Storm Lord (Master of the elements, along with his host) You are trying to get into various Arcane forms, as well as Necromacy, Blood (form of necromacy) AND Elemental and Chrono? Bit heavy on mana aren't you? Kalek, my character for New Chapter is only in the arcane. Like Hellion is Storm Lord, with basic arcane powers, specified to controlling his mage and warrior puppets. :/

Immunity to Poison and Plague? Even Hellion, a massive dragon from another world/dimension (don't dwell on it too much. It sounds tacky :/ Shadow Realm/Void Realm is more fitting.) isn't immune to poisons and plagues. If he were to die, he could be brought back to life, likely as a superweapon servant.

I have to question the massive amounts of magic forms you are using though...

Rune Magic
Shadow Magic (Necromacy in a broader form)
> Blood Magic
> Venomancy (Curses and Hexes)
> True Name (unrealistic. True Name applies control over another, and is unfair to other players and permits control over opposing troops or nearby NPCs)
> Necromacy (Art of the dead. Devilak is a Void Lord with a necromantic army it seems. Undead gallore.)
Arcane
>Runes
>Illusions
>Binding/Sealing
>Conjuration (Known as Summoning in Necromantic terms)
>Circles
Elements
Chronomacy
Spellword/Handsign magic

I would reject this, due to the vast array of forms he knows. That isn't "dabbling". Hellion has lived for 600 years (plus his thousand year seal) and has mastered the elements, and become adept in the arcane. Other than that, he hasn't been able to learn other forms of magic (probably genetic. One may not be compatable with other forms. Sometimes, learning one form forces you away from learning another, because they might clash. Sometimes, two magic forms may entertwine easily, allowing quick learning of the second form.

6 major forms, and the numerous subforms results in death. The mana in the body, cannot shift it's flow between forms too quickly, as the patterns of mana flow are vastly different. The strain of maintaining one or two, can harm the caster, especially with clashing forms. Limit yourself to a few. You cannot indulge in so many forms.

(Final. Sorry it's SO long... )

Even I limit myself to a single or couple forms. Hellion had Elements and basic Arcane. Kalek simply has the Arcane, nothing more.

There is no fun in trying to survive when one can solve a situation by switching magic forms an enemy or problem cannot withstand or avoid. It is more challenging to find ways to win, using your selected magic forms. (Like Hellion's Elements (genetic major. Rare among his race of Heldragons) and Arcane (minor), or Kalek's Arcane (major)) Beating a challenge with a limited selection is mroe fun than it sounds. One would be surprised at how many ways one could solve various problems with one form of magic. Just look at Hellion! The elements have always been considered weak in the public eyes, but I have proven it's potency. And now, I plan to have Kalek free himself using his powers of the Arcane. One can always find a way to win. It's just in how you apply what you have.

Lol I understand what you're getting at, but I never once considered elements to be weak. Infact its probably the most powerful form, however I don't think that anyone can ever truely MASTER the elements. Because, and I don't know if you realize it or not, if you ever -mastered- the elements you would effectively be a master of the universe itself. Simply manipulate the right elements at the right moment and you have complete control over..... Anything. And I do mean ANYTHING.

As for my character Slate knows several forms of magic however knowledge doesn't translate into a physical ability to do something. Also his power is highly unstable, half of his spells either fizzle or explode in his face, whereas another 1/4 of them cause magical backlash to him. And while, yes he CAN swap out spells, it doesn't mean that he can do it on the fly whenever he wants too. He has to study the spells for hours, reflecting upon all the semantics of each spell/type and usually to prepare himself mentally for each.

~Finally~ Slate has a very limited amount of magical power that he has at his disposal as well. He can only manipulate so much magic daily and if not allowed to recharge it through a specific means, doesn't gain it back. However the means by which he replenishes magic is a painful one and very stressful on his body. He's not specificall IMMUNE to poisons and diseases so much as they really don't effect him like normal. His body, in a way, absorbs them and tries to fight them off with magical and extraordinary healing. If he was killed and raised his body would slowly begin to lose almost all of its original strength as his body almost reverses all the changes he's went through .Also, shadow magic isnt a form of necromancy, its more or less just an alternate means of arcane magic

Yes, well, you are quite correct in that true mastery of the elements means the ability to control the universe. If dragons are genetically patterned to be adept at elements, it's rare that one can control all, much less effectively. Hellion and his host were two such dragons, and their elemental mastery was genetic. This genetic variation results in them being less adept in other magic forms. But, while they don't have godly mastery over the elements, in the eyes of their kin and the other races, such dragons control the elements around them with efficiency and cunning. Hellion has been able to warp enviroments to form new terrain to his liking, turning it upon his foes. His control is to a level where he can control what is effected, and what is not. That is the form of Elemental Mastery being displayed. Storm Lord is a title given to such a master capable of controlling the elements of the storm to full effect.

Yea, but what you're describing is almost like Hellion is already so overpwered that he can't be touched. Swerve arrows away, bend weapons, boil people. From the amount of power you're saying he has over the elements these are what comes to mind. Unless ofcourse he only has control over one element? I mean, I don't wanna seem a prick for pointing it out and I really dont wanna be in an arguement of semantics but thats just what it seems you're describing.

lol Well, those are the fine points of such powers. I avoid those for balance sakes. :p No, examples I can use of displaying his power include churning the ocean (avatar of nature took over the host), the ability to control the storm and how it flows, defacing the local terrain and thus using the rock layers to imprison foes within angled pillars, and, in one case, when he used his mage puppet, launching himself(puppet) long distances using small pillars of earth like a cannon, shooting out of the ground to thrust him upwards and towards his destination. While it is much harder for control the elemental aspects with objects like arrows and swords (having been altered so. But arrows fly too quickly for any alterations to be worth it. Arrows usually are en masse XD), Hellion and his host tend to stay towards the raw elements like flames, water, wind, and earth.

(Continued)

Due to the Elemental Orbs Hellion tempted his host to forge, sealing the pure essence of the elements into them, Hellion increased his powers over the elements. Controlling the natural elemental set, he added his own essence of darkness from his Void realm. But, to balance it out as to not becorrupted by the pure powers of the sahdows, he came across a light orb, enchanted by holy energies. While he cannot call upon the light orb's holy power, he uses it as the centerpeice of his mantle, balancing out the shadow orb's corrupting nature. This Orb forging saga was about 500 pages long and took monthes of developing Hellion's character through his brief appearances. :p So, I made sure to build up my power over time, establishing myself as an RP powerhouse.

But now, with Kalek, I begin an experiment to see how powerful I become with using solely the arcane form. :p

Ah. Resistant to poisons and plagues. That makes more sense. :p And the forced regeneration is an interesting touch. :p

Well, Necromacy is in the range of shadow magic, as it is deemed evil. Shadow Magics are borderline arcane, as necromacy is a variation of healing spells and binding, but still usually deemed dangerous to the unprepared and the casters. None the less, they tend to be looked down upon. Hellion, for example, notes its usefullness, (necromacy in this example) but refuses to teach or permit it to be taught to his mages. However, if a mage joins his forces with the knowledge and capabilities, Hellion will tolerate it, but prefers his mages to stick to the arcane and minor elemental forms. Hellion doesn't fully trust the shadowy spells of the dark arcane. They tend to have unpleasant effects upon foes and allies. :p

Slate's magical ability is due to his attunement to magic itself, hence why he CAN use all different types of spells. However most of them he doesn't use because they either are far too taxing, take far too long to cast/use, or, in the case of elemental/chronomancy, warp the fabric of space and time, or so he believes. His main uses of magic are normal spells, such as fireballs or bolts of magic, and his circles which take a long time to prepare, but are used for purely defensive purposes. Also, some forms of magic just seem useless to him..... But knowledge is a powerful thing.

He can't control his magic all the time so he's developed a means to use his blood as a catalyst in order to better control it, however it leaves him slightly weaker than it normally would. Normal Arcane spells. While he doesn't like elemental he uses it sparingly, and only for defense if he has no other option. He uses circles/glyphs, if he's got the time to draw them, in order to enhance the power of a spell. And he has a demon bound as a sort of servant that takes the form of a cloak and talks to him from time to time to give him advice.
