THE LAST BATTLE BETWEEN ALLIANCE AND HORDE

an AOS by palaslayer and r0flc0pt0r

Hi!

Since we love Dota a friend and I had the desire to create an own AOS. A battle where heroes play the main roles. I had the first idea and when i got lazy r0flc0pt0r took over the project.

Both of us are not the best scripters and I am the only one of us being on thehive.

I learned a lot of things here since I signed up.

Now I wanted to introduce the project to the community. Suggestions are welcome, and an experienced scripter would be nice, too.

I will post screenshots of the map and i would be happy to hear your opinions.


Terrain: 99%
Triggers/Scripts: 40%
Units (including heroes and neutrals etc.): 80%
Items: 10%
Overall: 50%

Hy:

I will just comment on the terrain which is genneraly bad:

Flat -
Ugly trees -
Bare -

You need more more more shrubery rocks, props stuff like that.
You need better trees, this stink.

The blizzard cliffs are bad, the water part isn't good.

You must improve it, I don't say this in a bad meaning, it is okay but a lot of room for improvement.

I would like to point that terrain is important everywhere. I think the map size is too big. If you lower the map size you wouldn't need so many trees.

You should fix the height of the terrain in the alliance city looks sharp and pointy smoothen it.

You should just raise the terrain instead of cliffs, making plateus and adding pathing blockers.

You need to smoothen terrain allover the place and more:

Shrub
Rocks
 
Ouch the screenshots of the first post look horrible. Sorry never use lordaeron and you should place fitting doodads and read some terraining tutorials. The terrain is the first thing the others see, if its crap they won't play your map for sure, so better have an excellent terrain and crap gameplay, you will have more chances to get your project hosted then.

hi again. i am here to give u the brandnew preview of Gyran the Holy - Archangel and one of his spells, the Holy Charge, as well as the new Multiboard.

So, that u dont have to wait any longer, i proudly present my charge (made with some help of paladon, who as well wasnt able to fix my version, so i took his).

I guess I find it funny how the beauty of terrain can fail a person in a AOS. I extremely doubt anyone who ever plays a AOS is gonna watch the beauty of terrain while ignoring the fact that their losing and someone is killing them.


The terrain is fine. Just get something to surprise people with the gameplay or something.

Today, I want to proudly announce that this project might be closed....

BUT the good news is, that Paladon and I plan to put our two projects

SaW - Shires at War

and

The Last Battle between Alliance and Horde - AOS (TLB)

together in one big, amazing AOS, which will totally fulfill all needs of an AOS - Player.

We didnt plan everything in detail yet, but I think that my part will mainly be the terrain

Sorry but I really find those screens awful.

Now I am gonna give you somee hints:
  • Use more tile variation
  • Doodads must fit more
  • The seem seems not to fit your AOS
  • Doodads seem not to be placed randomly for an AOS
  • The tiles / doodads do not fit
  • The units do not fit with the terrain
  • You use to much bushes for the style
  • You use totally awful tilesets

I hope I don't get killed for this, I am just trying to help.

(I know that it is NOT perfect, but I think this fits:

for the SaW thing i use some winter tiles at one side, but which tiles do u use for ashenvale related parts?

I don't know anymore, just check the tilesets for those tiles.

Its quite imba mixing the tiles together.

Best is Dungeon & IceCrown Glacier, they fit together so well.
