Did you expect it all to be like this: "Let's make this game and this is the story, oh! The game is already finished! Now that's quite wonderful isn't it!?" And everyone lived happily ever after. The end.

I know its really hard to make a game, I EXPECTED THE WORSE. but come on..... 20 pages and many weeks and still we dont have ideas and even someone that can be a leader. We are all lost, we dont even know anymore what we're doing. Why? Because some makes a story (like me....) some votes for the leader and some for a new Public Poll. We dont know what to do first.:thumbs_down:

Hmmm.... your idea is great. 2D making for us easy because it doesnt require that much skill and Hack N Slash, too much fun to play with. But I have an idea how about the Hack N Slash have different levels so different enemies and Bosses. When the player advaces in level, there will be stronger and different enemies like that.

@Just_Spectating
Wow, like Maplestory!!! I love that 2D game. Maybe we should also go for this one because its worth a try. And also it has some cool events that the player really enjoys.

To narrow down the ideas, I've made a thread which I want to keep clean. I only want game suggestions using this template.

It differs from the other thread because it is for writing down "idea submissions", and less about spamming about how the project will be.

@Alima
You didnt use the template, please edit your post with the proper template.

@Just Spectating
That idea is really cool, but you get stronger after you die :D I mean, what if a boss kills you?

We are just giving the suggestions,Little Moose.

@Hell_Master
Like robots,computers,etc

Well, I would like it to be maybe half Medieval and half Cyber-ish. Why? Because when I fully answered Cyberish, it might turn out to be that the game is full of robots and computer... no, I want the arena half Cyber and medieval. Like trying to mix a Medieval terrain and Cyberish terrain. Example: Game has forest, cities, dungeon and caves, and Kingdoms as an arena.

Great... Stath just gave up on this.... ABOUT TO! We're not really up to this game of ours.... maybe we should already decide who should be the leader because this has taken us 20 pages just for the planning.
Trust me, the planning is going to take a while before the project actually starts. I want the entire hive to agree on a project before this starts.

God of War is a hack and slash. I'm rather sure it has a story.

Well, lets just say that Hack N Slash has story but I think it concentrates in fighting with hand to hand combats means Melee combat (no range combat like Archer to Archer.). And to be honest, Hack N Slash it not really a game type or genre but a part of RPG, MMORPGs and others...

That's the right definition Hell Master.

We could add story though. I mean a hack n slash with story. A hybrid between RPG and hack n slash. It would be cool :\ I think.

Actually that was a good idea, Morbent, +REP. Hack N Slash with a story. With that we can make an awesome game. But that leaves us with a big question.... will everyone agrees with this? Because we keep changing ideas because we dont got to agree to everything we are planning. And next is, what will it be 2D or 3D?

But you know Hack N Slash with story is a good idea because many of us here likes Hack N Slash. Well, many plays Baldes N Gore... what more if it has stories? It will be awesome!

Well, lets just say that Hack N Slash has story but I think it concentrates in fighting with hand to hand combats means Melee combat (no range combat like Archer to Archer.).
Hack N Slash refers to the gameplay style, not the fact that melee combat is involved. Diablo III is Hack N Slash when most of the classes are ranged.

Hack N Slash games usually involve the player fully controling 1 character. This character possess insane fighting capabilities, usually over the top or godlike. Enemies usually are weak, stupid and come in large numbers to die. The combat is fast paced with the player character attacking many enemies or many times a second.

The emphsis is on the number of enemies and style of combat. A typical Hack N Slash could be you controling a guy armed with an automatic BFG with unlimited ammo against 100s of zombies. Each zombie is killed easilly by the BFG however there are 100s of them. As an off hand he could wield a huge chainsaw like it is made of paper hitting zombies with such force as to knock them back or destroy them. Each zombie also does little damage to the player, however if he is not careful the numbers can quickly eat away his health.

This opposites fighting games. Fighting games share a very similar combat style (over the top with fighters being capable of unimaginable destruction) but have you face only a hand full of enemies at any time. These enemies are usually as strong or even stronger than you. An example would be Street Fighter where you mostly face player controlable characters that are roughly equal in power.

If you remove the combat style, you get games more like RTS where you need to use 100s of units to take on 100s of units.

I like Hack N Slash type of gameplay as it makes you feel like you have unnimaginable power at your finger tips. Like you are playing a real hero. This is very different from horror games (which I hate) where mostly you play some kind of invalid with the fighting capabilities of a butterfly.

Tbh, I'd love to make an MMORTS...

Like I said before, the idea is that you have a large map (think 5 times the size of a PS2 map), where you zoom in in areas. You then fight in that area, and when you win, you can continue producing units, and move them to the nearby area.

The twist is that you have AI factions which you fight for, and purchase upgrades for your units.

When you leave a map, all buildings and units are autodefaulted to the computer to be given to players harvesting resources or have the AI harvest resources to trickle to the players in the entire map(Think of it as a planet).

Once the player is deployed in the new area of the map, he is given an autoconstruction machine that will allow him to set up his technologies.

As players fight in the entire world, they gain Faction Levels, which allow them to use more perks from their factions. In addition to the XP gained, they will also gain Technology bonuses that will increase the statistics of all players' units (obviously scaling with their level).

So, a high level player on a not-that-much-populated map would be equal to a mid or even a low level player on a very populated map.

So, yeah, you have a huge version of PS2 in RTS.

Devil May Cry is a perfect example of a hack n slash game that isn't anything else except a hack n slash. It also has lots of ranged combat in it.

The main problem with a MMORTS is how to scale the mehcanics so that servers can run it. This is why there are so few MMORTS games.

Once you have the server under control, the client is easy. You just stream a snapshot of the server activity (around the player camera) which the client keeps roughly synchronized. Perodicly you can stream corrections (or external changes) to that area. Unlike MMORPGS and FPS games which need highly responsive streaming (as the input can vary many times a second), RTS games do not have such variable input. Orders will change less than 2 times a second on average and each order you can expect to be synchronized with the server before it runs (like SC2 does). This makes the prediction model a lot more accurate (no compensating for latency) and thus need considerably less bandwidth per actor (ingame object) than MMORPG or FPS games.

We shoudl really make a final decision fastly because this Early stage as we call it will never end because we keep changing ideas. So, are we going on Hack N Sash or other game Types?

And also, if we're going for Hack N Slash we should make it a 3D game because it gives more of a Hack N Slash feeling than 2D Platform. So, Hack N Slash is only suggested if 3D but if we want to attempt a 2D Hack N Slash, it is also worth a try!

No animators for 3D or 2D. But we've got many artist which means that 2D has a better chance for success. I mean, some will learn how to animate in 2D. And in 3D... there aren't almost... well, there aren't almost any 3D animators here. I worked on a project before 4-5 months (still am) and we needed a 3D animator to animate the basic animations of a model and we still can't find anyone. I mean, we can't find ONE willing to animate. So... 3D seems a bit impossible to make, in my opinion.

A bit strange that you can't find a 3D animator on a 3D game modding site though x)
I mean, this is a community project and I know there are modellers and animators in our community, so finding them isn't really our biggest problem :b
