Do you think that with the arrival of WotLK, the next WoW expansion, and perhaps Sc2 and its editor; Wc3 (and, specially, its mods) will be casted aside even further?
RTS != RPG, sometimes I might feel like playing one, other times I may feel like playing the other.
Don't rp, then. Notice there are servers for rping and servers for not rping.MMORPG's (Mostly men online RPing as girls tbh)

And no, SC2's editor also won't drive them, because:
a) If it's different from WC3's one, no modder will change to a new, unknown editor
SC2 will take a huge chunk of the modding community. Chances are, its editor will be fancier, easier to use, and will just offer a much wider array of possibilities. Worst case scenario, SC2 just plain sucks and everyone stays, but that's improbable. When has Blizzard led us astray in RTS's before? Sure, people will play just for the sake of medieval stuff (that might be moddable though), but most of the people play for the moddability, which SC2 > WC3 at, probably. No! Did TBC drove them away? No!

b) If it's WC3-like, what's the difference between them? Only that - for the WC3's worldedit there's a huge ammount of recources, and for SC2's there are not. And if WC3's can be used in SC2's, the won't fit in style.
As with Starcraft, but do you honestly think that no one has moved on to the next game? It's inevitable that a huge chunk will emigrate from Wc3.I'm a huge Civilization III fan and there are still new mods, maps and scenarios for CivIII, eventhought that 3 new Civilization games (Civilization 4 and 2 addons) have appeared. And Civilization 3 is from year 2001.
1. Have you interrogated all of them? Then don't say all.Hm... Currently in CFC there's a big fight between the Civ4 and Civ3 fans and the interesting fact is that we haven't noticed any fan that moved from Civ3 to Civ4. Yes, there are people who play both games, but all of them still preffer Civ3.
Hakeem said:Wrong thread. This is about WotLK not SC2.

I'm not too sure we can be certain about that, but if this is so, then the modding community will definitely bite into this game.Heros will be available for modding purposes but not in the actuall campaign or melee I think.

What is the role of heroes in StarCraft II? Will they be the same as in StarCraft?
StarCraft II campaign heroes will fulfill roles similar to what appeared in the original StarCraft single player experience, but they will have even more unique abilities from standard units, and will be more innovatively integrated into the story campaign. Heroes will not be buildable in multiplayer.
way more than u thinkwhat made wc3 stay alive for so long is MODDING, cmon, how many people do play blizzard maps? they want to do same thing with sc2 it seems.
An amazingly intelligent reply coming from an amazingly intelligent man. Now move on in life.
No.
And IIRC Blizzard said that JASS scripting wouldn't be included!
THERE ARE RUMORS FOR WARCRAFT 4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Woohoo!
1. Not the point.DIABLO 3?!?!?
Seriously, I really hate diablo![]()
Yes, once SC2 is out the number of wc3 players will decrease. . .but also lets not 4get that wc3 has the hero play type in melle gamers...sc2 wont have heroes...I think wc3 will survive probably better than original SC survived.
Keyword: modders. You're going to have to steal a lot of cookies, because it's more than likely that a huge amount of modders from wc3 will switch to sc2, if, in fact, a wider range of possibilities with the editor is present, as it should be.I don't think that wc3 modders will go over to SC2, and if they do..
I steal a cookie from them instead of giving them one -.-
