Myspace, it's true. It was all over the news, and why did Sega permanently drop out of the market then if they didn't go bankrupt? They did dude.

I know, because that's how I got my Dreamcast so cheap. That console flopped, as everyone was either waiting respectively for the PS2/Xbox/Gamecube and didn't want to buy a new console yet.

So Sega was losing money by the second, and the only real option they had was to sell out. So they did. And whom came calling? They're old rival, Nintendo.

Now, whether Sega is independant or still owned by Nintendo to this day is unknown to me. They very well may have gone independant again, as many Sonic games have been released for Xbox. This would most likely be the case, as Nintendo woulf then own a portion of the shares, and would command enough influence to use Sonic in their games.

Either way, we wont be seeing a console from Sega anytime soon :(

The scale of this stage is one of the grandest in the Smash Bros series. The scale is, say, about as same as that Temple stage—you know the one I’m talking about?

It’s New Pork City.

It is a city of chaos.

stage14_071015a-l.jpg

It’s too detailed to fully understand...

stage14_071015b-l.jpg

The buildings are like...billboards?

At any rate, it’s big, so if all someone does is run away, there will be no end to it. But with so much freedom, it becomes a giant playground.

stage14_071015c-l.jpg

There’s quite a lot of freedom.

Also, a monster known as the "Ultimate Chimera" appears on this stage.

stage14_071015d-l.jpg

The-there it is!

If this guy sinks his teeth into you, it will launch you off in one blow. It’s pretty much certain that if you get hit, you’ll lose a life. But there’s nothing you can do. I mean, it IS the Ultimate Chimera.

stage14_071015e-l.jpg

I’m no maaaaaaaatch...

The chimera looks like someone's first ever model. Incredibly retarded.

And what game is this from? Or is it just some miscellaneous one?

Lets just hope they do not use any of the stages sonic was in in the game. And square will never be so stupid to let nentindo use sepheroth or cloudz in a game like this, although they let disney use sepheroth o_O which is pretty stupid when there is disney characters in the same game as something that can survive multiple ultimate ends.

Dreamcast.. so this would be around the year 2000?

And New Pork City would be a Mother 3 thing, I believe, due to the copious amounts of Lucas.

"Heya son, ever heard of three-dee modeling?"

"No pops! What is it?!"

"Well junior, it's this crazy high-technical thingamajig used to create graph-ex effects!"

"Gee whisikers, could ya tell me more!"

"Well sport, you're getting to be a big boy, how'd ya like to 3-DEE model something yourself?"

"Gosh garnly! Whatchould I make?"

"S'up to you son! Just make sure it looks like whatever there comes to yer head when I say chimera. And that it's neon pink and devoid of any artistic value, like most of the effort put into any games for the Nintendo Wii even though it's capabilities are far beyond what it usually gets which are sometimes worse than Gamecube and PS2 games."

Conversation between developer of Super Smash Bros Brawl and his son. True story.

A creature created in the Chimera Labs during Chapter 7, like its name implies, it is undefeatable and can defeat the player instantly by merely being touched. Instead, it needs to be avoided and run away from. It has a button on its back which switches it off, but the bird on its head will simply press the button again to revive it. It appears again in the toilets during Chapter 8 but it is still undefeatable.

The Ultimate Chimera will appear on the New Pork City stage in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and true to the series, any character who touches it will instantly lose one life.
So can the switch be pressed?

What is the Home-Run Contest? It’s a competition to see who can hit Sandbag the farthest in just ten seconds!

various08_071016a-l.jpg

You see Sandbag and a character on the platform.

At the start, it’s just you and Sandbag.

Then you just beat Sandbag silly, filling up his damage meter.

various08_071016b-l.jpg

There’s only a 10-second time limit!

Before time runs out, grab the Home-Run Bat on the ground and do a smash attack with it!

various08_071016c-l.jpg

PWANG! You launch him!

various08_071016d-l.jpg

Fly! Flyyy!

various08_071016e-l.jpg

Compete for longest distance.

Flight distances are recorded for each character. Go! Break the record! Set your own!!

But this time... there are four differences!

1: The stadium platform is protected by a shield.

various08_071016f-l.jpg

Whoa! This nice feature keeps you from falling.

If you don’t put some force into it, you won’t break through the shield, so you can pummel Sandbag to your heart’s content. Surely this will allow you to string together new combos.

2: Two players can play together.

various08_071016g-l.jpg

Incredible! Two can enjoy it!

As a tag team, you can challenge yourselves to set even greater records. You’ll have to work perfectly together, though.

3: Two-player alternating play.

various08_071016h-l.jpg

Compete for distance in two matches!

Ah, competition—that’s what the Stadium is all about. Players compete to see who can hit the farthest.

4: Online competitions.

various08_071016i-l.jpg

You can’t tell from this shot, but this is an online match.

This option can be found under With Friends. And it supports both the two-player cooperative and two-player alternating modes.

This is some rather rich functionality. You’ll be able to play just this mode quite a bit. Amazing, isn’t it?

Poor little sandbag.

Shield is a big plus for me, as well as smashing the crap out of it with my friends in another country.

Awesome!

New Pork City is from Mother 3. New Pork City is where Pokey Minch, Ness' rival in Earthbound, leads the Pig Mask Army. It is full of things from Earthbound that survived to the age in which Mother 3 takes place. In a movie theater here there is a movie chronicling Ness' adventure across Eagleland.

P.S. The ultimate chimera looks like it does in Mother 3.

IT actually looks good, but for the fact that a nvedia <7800 could probably produce thoes graphics and that it is not HD and that sonic is in it.

If you notice the only main difference between this and melee graphic wise is the higer res textures and lighting caused my more RAM and graphic memory and a slightly better GPU and that it uses multiplayer, but hay most games use multiplayer now days.

Since nentendo does have a mario V sonic olympics, having sonic as some adventure mission or something would be fine, but as a playable characture I strongly object to.

Also notice the lack of Antialiasing which both PS3 and Xbox360 have at 4x, yes I know it sucks to the nvedia 8800's 16x but still it overall makes textures look smoother.

All characters from SSBM wont return, but most of them, but all the characters from the first will return

oh, and i would rather play a game with 10/10 gameplay wise and 1/10 graphic wise than a game with 1/10 gameplay wise and 10/10 graphic wise

I like games with 10/10 gamplay and graphics. And graphics are cheap anyway, its only because nentindo is selfish that they do not make a PC version of it, especially considering it uses none of the "special wii" fetures of the moveable remotes or anything. They even say it can use a gamecube controler. Which brings up the fact that a PC is more than qualified to run a port if it is good enough. And on a pc you can choose your graphics, if you have a good PC you can make graphics look much better than on a low end PC, even if the game does not support it via AA and AF and other non manditory graphic enhancements.

They better have gannondorf in it is all I can say. . . .

Also the game will probably suffer from bad fram rate drops when major action between more than 2 players takes place like Super Smash bros melee where with 2 level 9s the framerate could easily hit the <10 in a 4 player game.

Ok, I hope the next character they announce is one of these five:

A.) Captain Falcon

B.) Ganondorf

C.) Waluigi

D.) Captain Olimar

E.) Ness (He survived?!)

And the next stage I want them to announce is the Metroid stage, Norfair a.k.a Ridley's Lair.

Agreed, but you can have both! The Wii has better graphics capabilities than the PS2 and GC, yet devs seem to be porting the graphics from PS2 games all the time. And most of the games nintendo makes have pretty weak graphics. Just because something's cartoony doesn't mean it needs to be ugly.

That being said, playing games with super graphics and horrible gameplay is boring as heck.

Perhaps Lucas isn't Ness' replacement, just another representative from the Mother (Earthbound) series. I wouldn't want to see all of Ness' glory from two games be replaced by Lucas, even though Mother 3 is set in the same world as Earthbound, except decades later. But still, I wouldn't mind if Ness is being replaced by Lucas.

God dammit, I thought I asked one of you to do the update for yesterday.
Believe it or not, but you can use four controller types with this game! But everyone seems to wonder the most about how the Wii Remote works when held sideways.

Please allow me to explain.

basic07_071017a.gif

+Control Pad : Move

Press left or right to walk and press up to jump.

If you’re in a real hurry, press twice. Press left or right twice to run and press down for a short time to fall through some floors.

basic07_071017b-l.jpg

Press sideways twice to dash!

2 Button : Basic Moves

Just press the button for a standard attack. Press it while pressing a direction on the +Control Pad for a strong attack.

You can perform smash attacks in one of the following ways:

* 1: Press the 1 Button and the 2 Button at the same time.
* 2: Press any direction on the +Control Pad and the 2 Button at the same time.

Just pick whichever one is easiest for you!!

basic07_071017c-l.jpg

Press the 2 Button at the same time you press up,
sideways, or down!

1 Button : Special Moves

The direction you press will determine what kind of special move you do.

basic07_071017d-l.jpg

You have four special moves depending on the direction you pick: neutral, up, sideways, and down.

B Button : Shield

This is in a kind of hard-to-press area, but the button for your shield is near your left index finger.

To dodge, hold down the B Button and press in a direction.

To grab, hold down the B Button and press the 2 Button.

To throw an item, hold down the B Button and press the 2 Button.

basic07_071017e-l.jpg

Using the – Button is the same as pressing B Button and 2 Button. Grab away!

A Button : Taunt

That’s all!

Right now, to grab a Smash Ball, you have to beat on it—not just touch it. Don’t forget!

basic07_071017f-l.jpg

Be the first to pummel it!

When you get a Smash Ball, try a standard special move. In other words, just press the button for your special move without a direction. You will then perform your Final Smash.

This is the same for all control schemes, so keep that in mind.

On October 18 at the E for All (Entertainment For All Expo) in Los Angeles, people will be able to play Brawl. And (perhaps boldly), it will be available for play with the Wii Remote. Is that really going to be OK?

No need for concern—I bet you can play it quite smoothly and simply...maybe. How about a little mental training before the time comes when you actually control it?
mball06_071017a.jpg

Meowth. It’s considered a major Pokémon, but it did not show up in Melee. It now makes its first appearance since the original Smash Bros.

mball06_071017b-l.jpg

Meowth appears!

mball06_071017c-l.jpg

It unleashes a slow coin barrage!

They call this Pay Day, but it’s not like it’s getting any coins out of it.

mball06_071017d-l.jpg

It doesn’t appear to be throwing the coin on its forehead.

Huh? That definitely appears to be a coin on its forehead, but what do you suppose they call it in Japan?

Maybe if you check the Japanese version of Smash Bros. Dojo you can find out...
And now for today's...
assist10_071018a.jpg

Little Mac

Once there was a legendary man. He knocked heavyweight boxers many times his own size to the mat en route to a W.V.B.A. title.

Little Mac appears from Punch Out!

assist10_071018b-l.jpg

I can do it! I’m the one!

assist10_071018c-l.jpg

... But isn’t he a little small?

Don’t take him too lightly just because he’s small. There’s an authentic fighter in him.

assist10_071018d-l.jpg

A fierce dash!

assist10_071018e-l.jpg

One! Two! Powerful jabs!

assist10_071018f-l.jpg

And his special move is his uppercut!

Resurrecting this legend for the current generation is something we can all enjoy just a bit. He is an Assist Trophy.

Forgot about this one yesterday.
<Peach Blossom>

Somehow, Princess Peach always seems go at her own pace. Her Final Smash will lure you into her world.

peach_071019a-l.jpg

She’s got the Smash Ball and she’s ready!

peach_071019b-l.jpg

Wh-what is this? This screen frame?!

peach_071019c-l.jpg

Peach dances. Mario suddenly gets sleepy.

peach_071019d-l.jpg

At the end, a plethora of peaches!

The closer you are to Peach, the deeper you sleep. And all around you is a mountain of peaches that replenish your health when you eat them.

peach_071019e-l.jpg

Are you just going to eat peaches?!

peach_071019f-l.jpg

Or are you going to launch your foes?!

The flowers bloom. The peaches pour down. Yes. It’s so elegant.
Looks like a mass sleep effect.

I'm loling at the random filter.
