What to base a AoE spell with missile on?

Im trying to make a spell where you throw a potion at the targeted position, it flyes there and explodes, dealing AoE damage, but i dont know what to base it off

Lol barrage? Dude, barrage is a passive ability, and he's finding an active AoE spell.

Use the Acid Bomb if you want it target point.
Use the Drunken Haze if you want it target unit.

Doesn't that spell also target units like Drunken Haze?
I think your best bet for now would use what White-Lion mentioned, Cluster Rockets, as long as you don't care that it's semi-channeling and that it stuns enemy units.

If you don't want the stun from Cluster Rockets, you could also make an offensive version of Healing Spray. (Place negative numbers in healing amount and set targets to enemies)

The stun on cluster missiles can be reduced to 0.01 seconds

i'd rather use a shockwave and trigger the damage dealt to the AoE, instead of missile system

Well, most of Target Point AoE spells have that >insert color here< circle to indicate the affected area.

And shockwave doesn't use that, it uses the small targeting image most target unit spells do.

targeted position = he wanted to target the spell into a position, like shockwave targeting image.
dealing AoE damage = deals AoE damage at the targeted position.

If you give flamestrike an missile sfx it will use that, also give it a speed.
If you want to do something advanced and know vJass *cough*my signature*cough*.

lol you can make shockwave from flamestrike.... unit uses ability Shockwave(flame strike) then summons dummy unit at postion of casting unit and casts shockwave in position of ability being cast...
