What is death?

Elenai has indeed "a brilliant future" :)
Who are we to name death? All i know is when someone dies, we all realize that the hopes, the experience, the needs, the beliefs of them are all gone and that we are a sack of flesh and bones.
Death is loss from the world, a balance of nature, to maintain the earth, due to the increased population.
A person's life goes away, that is why some teenagers out there should think of suicide again.
I wouldn't call life the "gift from the God", but i know we all have our destiny, maybe not a path we walk on with our destiny written on it, but a path that shows up, while we travel on it. A "blank us".
When we die, the "blank us" becomes just "us", letting everybody know who we were. A post sign is waiting for us in the end of our path, "You died! Worried? LOL! Time to join Paradise...!".
Unless you have a bitchen Priestess of the Moon to throw some stars on your head, life is a gift indeed. Respect it, or the end grows near :)

Death is when your cells fail at living further. I (an atheist) believe that when I die, everything just turns black, and all my memories disappear. Then some other living organism will take advantage of my dead body and use whatsoever might be left of it as food. So make sure you don't waste your life. : >

There are 2 kinds of death:
1) When all our body functions stop, and we cant feel anything. We don't even know we exist. Like when we sleep. But permanent. (Thats a nice way to say it)
2) When we are forgotten.

:spell_breaker:
I
as an non-existing member of an non-existing organization under a name of United Federation Of Awesomeness(UFOA) are here to represent the awesomeness of my awesome non-existing organization.
:spell_breaker:
And in our non-existing forum we were having our daily non-existing conversation and we came on a topic with a theme death...
There we some hard words and serious non-existing argument on that topic...
After some unknown period of time we conclude that death does not exist...
The death its just an new way of having more awesomeness!
And with this i think i answered all of your non-existing or existing question.
:spell_breaker:

Goodbye,
Non-existing Dr.Sc.Mr.Awesome

Note:
This is his personal non-existing quote:
"Awesome+Awesome=Awesomeness, but i found one more thing in the whole universe that cant be divided or added or doubled...
Its called awesomeness.
I am now researching that field which i am the maker of it by the way.
The field is called the Science Of Awesomeness(SOA).
Its complicated because of the lack of research on a theory from where i got this idea and its name is "The Theory Of Pure Awesomeness",and also the general research on that field.
The theory talks about the start of the awesomeness and what it really is.
But i added some of my own theories in that book with author approval of course.
As i researched more and more i found out the theory that is shown now as my first theory under a name "Level Of Awesomeness",which in theory should be able to calculate another person awesomeness, and it works in this way:
The signals come to the brain and cause the ego to expose which lets us to calculate the
veness of anybody we want...
This information has been made simple for public and the rest of this theory can not be seen because it contains to much
awesomeness for an average human or/and its top secret, also in the book there are some pages covered because of the same reason shown here.
Have an
awesome day!!!!..."

Basically Death is when the Neurons in the brain lack the connections to produce Coherent thoughts.

You can keep a dead person alive by electrical impulses however. But they will just be a vegtable, incapable of thought.

Sometimes enough neurons remain to allow instinctual responses, such as blinking.

It MIGHT be possible to "Revive" a dead brain as long as most of the Neurons are intact, saving all of the stored memorys. But our medical technology is nowhere near the level needed for a procedure like that.

That's PVS you described, not brain death. And no, you can't revive a dead brain since brain gets affected by necrosis once the oxygen and blood supply are cut.

Everything must be legal,so here is the wiki for legal death:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legal_death

I
mean we do not want to die illegal :D
Because they may sue our dead body...
And the worst thing is we cant call out for human rights because were dead and we do not have rights!

...

Go get some sleep please. Legal death a totally different thing and by stating what you stated, you proved that you haven't even taken a glimpse at the article..

The scientific view of what happens to consciouness after death is not that everything goes black, or any other ridiculous hypothesis like that. There is no scientific standpoint. Possibly because we have no way to test it. You think you know what happens after death? Great. Just don't claim it's the scientific view until you can design an experiment to test it.
So make sure you don't waste your life.
In a manner of speaking yes, but that can be taken multiple ways. For example, if someone takes that advice to mean they should "really live," then that's a terrible philosophy. What if, after death, you come right back? If everyone made no plans for the future, and only lived for themselves, for the moment, for fun, then when you come back you've got a tough life ahead of you because nobody was maintaining the world.

I wouldn't be so sure. Never underestimate the ability of life to survive. I'm sure there are methods to heal the brain.

Brain tissue is one of the fastest decaying tissues in an organism as far as I know. Even if the person survived, it most likely wouldn't be the same person, having impaired movement, impaired speech, amnesia, dementia, bipolar disorders, etc.

Death is also one of Grim Reaper's many names (though we usually refer that name as The Death).

And, Death is also the name of an american death metal band.

Yeah, but to say that healing is impossible is a bit far to go. Life doesn't come all this way just to die. The field doesn't seem to be very developed in scientific medicine though.
