Well since I was able to release Chaos Arena 1.1b a few days ago, I just want to take a break for a while and start a small project.

About:

Vampire's Realm is the first part of my 3 part project series for Warcraft 3, Realm.
The first part is about a Vampire Lord and his minion slaughtering a whole village.
The King of Altervan sent 4 heroes to terminate this threat.

Gameplay:

The gameplay will be similar to Blizzard's Diablo 3, means it focus really on mass killing of units with your spells and acquiring items to help you on the way.

Role:

Crusader's main role is to tank, he'll have high hp and armor, a good amount of physical damage and buffs to help him survive more and a few AoE damage spell to handle the crowd. Crusader will have a hard time tanking without a Damage Dealer to clean all the enemies.

Good:

-Handling Crowds.
-High HP

Bad:

-Lacks mobiles due to slow movement speed.
-Can't handle boss due to lack of stun ability.

Role:

Bishop's main role is to support the team with her buff spells and its high healing ability. A bishop have no damage spells and have a really weak raw damage so its more likely for a bishop to stay behind the enemy lines and should only focus on supporting its allies. It is very impossible to solo the game using Bishop.

Good:

-Healing and buffing ability.
-High amount of mana for buffing spam.

Bad:

-Low HP
-Low armor
-Low Physical Damage

Role:

Wizard can always change the tide of any battles. Able to cast devastating spells to wipe an entire army a Wizard will surely fit with a Crusader around.


Good:

-AoE damage spells
-Have weak healing ability

Bad:

-Low HP
-Low Physical Damage

Role:

Ranger's main role is to deal significant amount of physical damage to a target enemy, a ranger can also summon a pet to assist her in the battle keeping the ranger away from dealing damage. Ranger can also cast a medium damage AoE spell making her a must on any party.

Good:

-High Physical Damage
-High AS and MS
-Can summon pet
-Good mobility due to high MS

Bad:

-Very fragile

Author's Note:

The project is planned to be simple(other than the terrain), no fancy system that will make you cry etc. I just made this because of my pure love on terraining on the first place. Ideas just popped up as I progress on the terrain and receive offers from my friends that they will help me on this one.

Suggestions are welcome but keep in mind, i'm keeping this one as simple as possible.

A simple game with good terrain. Not much to say this moment. Is there an early gameplay screenshot? I would like to take a peek on what will be the outcome of this project.

Its too early I guess, I already told this to my team that this will be the way I'll work on this one.

Here is the quote from the original thread on chaosrealm.

I'll be doing the terrain first just to make sure that we won't make spells and systems on a unplayable map.

Second is the hero/unit/icon creation. As I feel that it needed to be done second on the terrain.

Third will be the spells and systems. Since this is probably will take a lot of time but failing to make some spells and systems will not demoralize us since the terrain and other contents are already made so we can try again on making spells over and over again until its totally done.

Fourth will be balancing testing etc. Well i'm confident on this layout because its based on my experience on what it took me so long on my other projects like TSoVE then dropped it(not totally drop TSoVE though I just love that project but its too big for one man.), its because I do a lot of things on the same time. :

Oh I'm the one who put that ragnarok character on that banner. Classes are inspired from RO and I'm also a RO player.

I know the bishop model have a bit of animeish texture, no actually it really is since the concept was taken on Ragnarok though I asked my Kisuke to at least do his best to make it look warcraftish and that is the result and really content about it.

Anyway thanks for the support still need to balance my time on updating chaos arena and working on this one.

Thanks man, about the bishop model, it was exclusively made for this project along with the needed animations that I asked them to make for the spells that I plan for the bishop class, actually it just need to be shaded more. Trust me guys the animations will kill anybody here. I'll just ask someone to shade it for a warcraftish style.

Please guys stop this issue about the bishop its getting annoying now, its not anime the texture was just a cell-shade if someone knows 2d art will understand that, as I said I'll ask someone to darken the texture to fit warcraft.

Also I was working on this stair part of the main hall it looks good for me. Now i'ma ask for suggestion on what to put on that big empty spot, i was thinking to make some kind of a small fountain there using some block models and the water plain model but I feel that it looks awkward.

thanks for motivating me jay, by then i do not want to learn any programming language because i'm always saying that it is very hard. but now i have the guts to try on it.

that area is sweet! and the lighting is great :D reminds me of diablo III warcraft :)

It's awesome the way it is now. The gloomy and long-abandoned look of the terrain is very fitting for a vampyfest. Now you just need a good soundtrack to fit if you have space and it'll be downright creepy...if you do decide to add some bloody doodads, try to tint them dark-brown, like dried blood, so that they won't look too bright.

Also, fork me if there ain't any spiders in this game...all those cobwebs practically require that you dedicate an entire area to them in my opinion :grin:

@DJ, hmm i'll check them out, but if you some recommendation of what war3 soundtrack just tell me.

Anyway halfway done on the mini-boss room. I also revamped the tiles on the first area(castle entrance), it now looks properly placed actually the same result can be seen on how the tileset looks like on this new screenshots. i might changed the currentscreenshots on main post on the updated one when I got some time.

I want to hear your opinion about the texture, grunt didn't made the texture and I'm thinking of re-texturing it(just adjust the color to fit the theme) or do you guys think its fine.
