As you walk up the hill towards the turrets, the visibilty of your surroundings gets better, not only because the forest is a lot less dense here, but also because some light source up on the hill is illuminating the forest and the ferns. After another small slope, you can for the first time see the area around the turrets.
The light sources are two giant spotlights that sweep their light spots over the forest border. They are placed at the leftmost and rightmost point of the cliff area that is protected by several large concrete blocks that serve as barricades, behind them several groups of soldiers patrolling up and down, looking for any sign of movements in the woods. There are also some of the strange reptiloids you saw before, standing as one large cluster at one of the turret bases.
The turrets themselves take up most of the space left at the cliff top, each one seemingly desinged to look different from all others. At the northwestern side, towards the open hills where the army was waiting, stood two well-known constructions: A minigun turret, currently not manned, and an Link turret, which is controlled by a computer. Then there follows a SAM-Launcher with three rockets mounted and several more beneath them. You can also spot a smaller turret with one single muzzle of a huge bore, indicating that this is an artillery. The rightmost two are another anti-air-turret, but this time a double-barreled machine gun, and a man-sized capsule-shaped object. The latter is not unknown during the sector: SMS-370 Sentry cannons, computer-guided plasma guns with a high fire rate, good missile speed and high damage. When not engaged, they hide inside a shell that protects them from the environment.
Just as you watch, a group of soldiers and reptiloids leaves through one of the entrances and heads off into the forest. They are not directly moving towards you position, but seem to be on guard for everything unusual.
