Your first skillset was 3 normal skills in two different forms and a morphing ulitmate. I'm kinda glad you changed your mind, as I think having multiple skillsets and a bigger amount of spells in general can easily become hard to balance or even OP.
  • Blade Rush: interesting spell, might bring some funny moments like tiny's throwing spell^^. This makes the hero a very strong 1vs1 fighter where it's sure which enemy you hit, and also shows how skilled you are in teamfights.
  • Melting Blades: So this is simply a scripted and safe 1.5x crit right? Is the stacking damage from the first three hits also taken into account when the damage is calculated for the crit? And are the stacks reset after the crit or if you change the target?
  • Hawk's Temper: Well this spell feels somehow odd to me (not bad!). Again it shines in fights with a small amount of enemies (1vs1), but I'm missing some values (for the damage dealt, attackspeed increase and its duration, as well as the damage reduction and so on, add this please or this spell is simply incomplete). Also I think you shound take a look at treant protectors 'living armor'
  • Hawk's Temper: Now this spell is very interesting and already synergizes well with the other spells.



Well, outstanding presentation, maybe slightly over-the-top if you know what I mean^^
  • Forestfly: Nice spell, makes Groot a good tanky support for attacking carries, with high harassing potential.
  • Vine Whip: Good setup skill, for ganks and fights.
  • Formulate: Nice ability for even more tankyness. But for me it's unclear what happens when the max HP bonus ends.
    Example: Groot has 1000 max HP and has 100% HP atm. Now he casts a spell and gains 80 additional max HP (--> 1080 HP). Within the duration he now takes 100 damage. What will happen once the max HP bonus ends? Will the HP percentage stay the same or the flat value?
  • Overgrowth: Interesting spell for pushes and teamfights, is the redirected damage also increased by 25%? Just one thing, maybe you shound rename the spell as Treant Protector's ulti also is called 'Overgrowth'.



Ok this really is a hard one, the main idea having a hero with different skillsets in two different forms (here ground and flying) isn't bad at all, but a good execution is key here.

The thing is that you want to have your hero to have 5 spells in both forms (including the morphing spell or not?). The problem I see is that normally heroes in DotA / DOTA 2 (the map you are meant to design a hero idea for) have 4 abilites (3 normal, 1 ultimate) and even innate abilites that are usable from level 1 are very rare. Increasing the ability count makes the hero imbalanced easily.

On the other hand having more spells itself is not a bad thing, just take a look at Invoker, but (and this is a really biiiiig BUT) you have to somehow justyfy it why this hero has more spells, not just because you want to, or because the model you chose has a flying and a ground form.

Also I'm not quite sure how experienced you are with DotA / DOTA2, and if you shouldn't be that much into it, I'd say it's better to make a smaller amount of abilities which are better designed and synergize well, as having a huge amount of spells that are more or less randomly thrown together (looking at the spells of your hero at the moment every ability just deals damage in various forms, with the exeption of the fly/land ability).

Also I'm not gonna comment on every single ability yet, as I think you shoud take some more time to find the right concept for the hero. But when I look at their values (and unless they are just placeholders) I think you should take some time and take a close look at the heroes which already are in DotA / DOTA2 (there is a link to the hero page of playdota.com in the opening post).
Just an example: normally heroes in dota tend to have ~400-600 mana on lvl 1 but your spells have manacosts which range from 300 to up to 1000 (!!!) mana on lvl 1.

So please don't be scared off now, I think you can easily make a good hero idea. Just take your time and look at dota heroes that already exist and decide if its not better to make less abilities and make them uniqe and well synergizing.




  • Arcane Barrage: This spell is really interesting, and reads like it would be fun to use it in teamfights. Has a pretty nice damage potential in bigger groups of enemies. Can one target be hit multiple times? Maybe you should add some notes to clarify it.
  • Discharge Energy: Again a really nice spell, the possibility of moving while channeling compensates the lack of hard CC to some point. Also scales pretty good into lategame when this hero has some big mana reserves possibly.
  • Assimilate Magic: Well the sole magic damage reduction feels pretty strong to me. Keep in mind that every hero has a 25% magic damage reducion from start. I'm not completly sure how magic damage reducion bonuses of items and spells like 'Flesh Heap', 'Corrosive Skin' and 'Null Field' work at the moment (somehow I can remember it doesn't add to the percentage but increases it by the percentage e.g.:25% + 25% * 0.15 = 28.75%). Gonna make some tests later.
  • Power Torrent: Interesting spell, I'm sure it's very powerful together with both other damage spells.


PS: Comments on Mandalgor Frostblaze, The Dragon Overlord and Morikk the Dwarven Prodigy will be added soon, I just need to eat something right now or I will fall off my chair xD. Gonna edit this post then.

I love the presentation. Red and black really goes well together. Too bad you had to use bbcode for the tabs though. That kinda ruined it.

  • Blade Rush is a pretty cool skill. Although hard to aim, it deals A LOT of damage. The base damage isn't all that big but with the bonus damage based on the range, it deals quite a lot of damage. At level 1, if the opponent is at 250 distance from the hero (which is more or less at the rim of the AoE of Slardar's slithereen crush (For example and for reference)) it would deal 175 damage (50 + (250x0.30)) which is A LOT for a level 1 skill.

    If the target is at maximum range, this skill would deal 185/233/280/328 damage.

    Although I'm still a bit confused on how he would "dash" though. Would he just walk with his normal speed? or go through units at his normal speed? or move like phantom lancer's dash? that should be noted in the skill since it's still a pretty important point.
  • Melting Blades' damage output isn't bad especially with the stack damage. However, I am quite confused with the critical damage. I guess with the stacks at maximum on the third one, the critical would include the stacked damage right?

    Another confusion is that would the stacks be reset once the critical occur or will it remain in the third stack? Again, notes would help.
  • Altar of Faith is a bit of a let down for me. It kinda ruins the strength of your first skill. Yeah, damage and slow is fine but I'd rather hit the enemy with my awesome first skill rather than back away to the altar just for a 30% attack speed increase.

    Just imagine that I'm on a team fight. I summon the altar for the damage and slow. THEN an enemy hero tries to escape. I used my first skill but since I'm still in the rim of the AoE of the altar, instead of chasing down my enemy unit, I run back to my altar just to destroy it, stop the slow and gain 30% attack speed my self. My enemy would now have escape and there's no way I can chase him down anymore.
  • Hell Death is basically Chronosphere that has only one target that receives a lot more damage but still pauses units near the area and makes them invulnerable. I guess this would be useful for picking off one nuker. Sorry about this last one. My brain kinda shorted out for a moment. Gotta eat some snickers soon.
This one isn't updated yet so I'm just gonna quote my last review.
Furnace, the Missing One
Let's start with its range. You do realize that in Warcraft 3, 128 or less range is already considered melee right? With your hero, there are melee units who have longer range than your "Ranged" hero. And I've also considered your second skill but it's still too short ranged.

The lore is.... short? Two sentences of a generic story isn't really something good. :/

Skills are pretty good though. You could probably increase that magic resistance of the shield. Doom sight is a bit confusing though, Yes it gives bonus range, but what explosion? How do you trigger that explosion? I don't see any skill that allows him to create and explosion. Is this a part passive/active skill? If yes, you should mention that.

Furnace heat is a bit too OP too. Let's see.

Let's assume this hero with 60 base damage, with 6 active items (max in dota) and with his 2/3 active spells. IF he casts all 6 items plus his first two spells within 14 seconds (Which is definitely possible in DOTA), he would already have 60 (base dmg) + 120 (6 items) + 40 (first two skills) = 60 + 160 damage. And if he casts his ulti, he gets additional percent damage.

That's like having a divine rapier dood. D:

But I'm sure you'll be able to balance that soon. You still have a lot of time. ^^
  • Boiling Blood seems to be okay. To little update means too little to review on.

Seriously though, You do realize we're basing our stats on the map dota right? So "Flying heroes, only take damage from ranged heroes and could pass the trees" you already lose in terms of balance on this line. Unless you make a skill for that, which would need a lot of thinking. :)

Anyway...

Best thing I've heard this new year is after winning a LoL ARAM game, someone from my team said at the end of the game "easy new year". What a douche. Funny as hell though xD
