That could work, but only parts of it should be covered with snow, like you have pieces of it that have heavy snowfall and other areas are just clear, makes the most sense to me

I was thinking you have to escort Rasler through the wilderness, but parts of that path are uphill and they are covered with snow, while the lower parts are just grassy

Up to you, I would check out the old temple map though, you can maybe alter the tileset to have snow and things it would be easier than making a completely new map, but that's up to you, this is just my humble opinion

I was thinking this:

You start off at some small outpost and your goal is to guide Rasler to a base that's just below the mountain, but you have to traverse the forest and the mountain path to get there, so first you start through the forest and you encounter various hostiles like murguls and trolls in there, then as you progress into the mountan the weather gets colder and you encounter more sinister things like neurubians, blue dragons, wendigos, etc.

Hey good concept, might wanna look at some original blizzard maps to see how to do this well, or maybe WOS maps, I recall there's a map in book 4 where you play as kurumi and have to confront nargul , the whole map is her walking on cliffs, might wanna take something away from that mission, if I recall correctly its the last mission in book 4

If I recall correctly the mission is called "The Red Haze", just find it if you want, alternatively dl book four from campaigncreations.org and look through it in the editor

look whos talking, besides its only a suggestion, you could make this whatver you want, you can have them escort rasler through the inside of an icy cave filled with monsters, or a lava filled cave filled with lava spawns, whatever it is, its up to you

Ok I watched the mission, and I don't want to do it like that, it would be just escorting him through a forest, the elevation of some of which is high and thus has snow, but that's it, nothing like the red haze lvl u were suggesting

I just got an idea, why don't you create a giant (256x256) map, use parts of it for the escort to safety mission then parts of it for the upcomming mission, I'll draw a diagram for what I mean

Ok so if you destroy Rasler the outpost where you're supposed to escort him becomes your base, however if you chose to save him then you start off at a base in the south, am I correct?

Yeah that's correct, if you oust Rasler you fight Haldan who has several large bases in the area, however if you save Rasler you simply have to defeat him

The point I was trying to make is although the maps overlap you get to play a slightly different map depending on your choices
Save Rasler > you start off with a different hero and control a small base to the south, your objectives are to rescue the hero you used in the previous mission from the outpost and destroy rasler and his remaining bases
destroy Rasler > You start off with the paladin (and maybe another hero joins you at some point in the mission) you control the outpost you reached from the previous mission and your goal is to destroy Haldan and his bases in the ares (green stars on the green segment of the map)

The level would be in stages

Stage 1
Here you would have to eliminate the fleet guarding the coast as well as the bases protecting the coast, this could actually be split up into destroying the ships and then landing a transpot ship onto the coast with the hero and a few heavy units and demolishers that would accomplish this task.

Stage 2
You would have to construct a base then defeat the forces guarding the central area, as well as the areas above it (it would be an uphill stage)

Stage 3
Here you and your hero have entered the bunker, you will have to fight your way through a gang of heroes, Alphas, and finally confront the field marshal himself

well we're not sure if we're using the version 2 of the ironguards now

Remember
Version 1 Ironguard - 520 hp (600 hp with upgrade) 2 food cost
Version 2 Ironguard - 1200 hp 5 food cost

I think we'll be only using the first version and have alphas instead of the 2nd version

Regarding the question from chat

We were trying to increase the variety of units. It would not be fun if we had every side have footsoldiers with 450hp and a normal attack, so we tried to make them unique

well i kind of get it, but weren't the ironguard supposed to be the personal guard of the field marshal, why 600hp then????

you with all these technical questions, well I suppose this is the mechanics thread so Im obligated to answer

they were not his personal guard, they were simply a unit that only he could train, like his personal army. basically they were his version of the regular footsman

Ironguard was the original name for the milrazer, also there were lots of little tweaks that occured when apostle was around, things got converted around to fit a different paradigm

Basically there was supposed to be a chapter where your mission is to eliminate a high ranking member of the Milreinian military who has gone rogue, and you would have to fight through Ironguards who were his special forces and a bunch of other things which are just too numerous to mention

ye, it would've been a mission similar to the one where you have to eliminate eliver, except you start off at the low end of the map and have to fight through a town and then a base in order to get to the location of the officer, (think of reckoning from scII)

It wasn't really like the reckoning, u just have your base in the south, and your goal is to destroy the officer and his loyalist at the top of the map, but he would've had many different units at his disposal, including the ironguard, what we now call the Milrazer, a flying ship that can call a thunderstorm around it, sniper units that do critical damage to all non-hero, organic units, a unit that lacked a name which would've had 1800hp, and finally a floating building that would summon units to defend itself, and that's all I could remember, there were more things
