Greetings, Hivers!

The staff has decided to take something of a different stance on the Site Discussion forum. In light of many topics that, though the topic is valid, lead to flaming, we will be moderating in a slightly different manner in this area.

Moderators will focus more on cleaning threads as opposed to simply closing them if problems occur. This only prevents the legitimate conversation from continuing. This does not mean that we will not close any threads at all, just that we will make more of an effort to keep them open if they seem to merit it.

This change in attitude is coming with another addition to the forum. The staff reserves the right to ban users from posting new posts or threads in the Site Discussion area if they are repeatedly disrupting and break rules. This ban may last for an amount of time specified by a staff member.


So, enjoy the discussions, just don't let it get out of hand.

Problem here: The moderators are human and some humans tend to be ignorant or lazy.

It didn't have to be announced, it's just nothing else is being done so this at least makes it appear as though steps are being made to improve the site.

Can you add the ban-from-forums thing to all forums? I'd much rather see some kid banned from the art forums for stealing rather than banned from the entire site.

Deleting spammy posts is a good thing, it allows the thread to stay on topic. Just give the user who posts the spam a neg rep or a +0 rep with the reasons.

If you don't tell people why you deleted their posts, then you achieve nothing and undermine credibility.

Bringing that up most definitely is helping. If it isn't, then it's because you're not getting it.
