Starcraft 2 in its current state is a hundred times better than SC1 when it was first released (barring Bnet 2.0 - a whole 'nother discussion). The gameplay is tight, and even SC1 didn't gain its e-sports reputation until at least a year after Brood War came out. There were tons of patches in between.

Even if it's not 'perfect' on release, why is everyone bitching? NO game is perfect on release. What we know is that once the world receives this game and plays it furiously, evolving whatever strategies with finalized spells and abilities, the game will start evolving and be further and further polished as all Blizzard games do.

People are looking at past Blizzard games and seeing the latest incarnations and forgetting the YEARS of change that happens in between. Does anyone even think about Starcraft patches pre-BroodWar? Or think about what Warcraft 3's gameplay was like before TFT? All of these complaints will be quelched with time. The game can only get better and better as more people play it. You can't just ask them to push back a game expecting some magic time=quality formula to work. It takes a ton of playtesting, and the best way to balance the game is by releasing it and getting it played. For anyone else, there's the campaign and custom maps.

If all you're worried about is the end product, then you're a jaded fool. No good multiplayer game worth its salt was perfect on release. SC2 is already pretty tight considering what it is.

I have no clue what you are talking about, the ladder is a single ladder with basic intervals to allow people to quickly tell how good they are. For example PurplePoot is a dimond player, he does not have to say he is number 1056 or what ever if hes comparing himself to someone who is in silver who would be number 250000+ or something insane. Instead you can do quick gudges of where players stand by what league they are in. Additionally it is to make it more psycologically easy to axcept your position. If you are heading towards number 1 in silver, you soon know you will be in gold and so you feel happy. If you know you are number 250000 in your area, it does not make you too happy going to number 249999. Yes these are week arguments for, but they are less week as your arguments against.

You sound as if I am the one talking unknown things.. I mean the ladder that war3 had, leave it for those who want to complete, for those who want to brag being 5th rank in 5 wins, make copper, Heart, Pink or whatever league. I dont want to be in a kindergarden, neither do many.

Those who compete will be ranked under 1000, those who say it is too hard, lol. stay in the Amateur league I suggested. So war3 has 1000 ranks while having million? No one tells you have to be ranked 25,395th. War3 ladder was working very well.

They ARE considering them, for those of you who think these are just whines, they are real problems..

Thanks for the collection of feedback and the constructive tone. Always appreciated.

We're fully aware of the concerns that are being discussed in the various threads, on fansites, detailed through kitten videos, etc. and we're in the midst of working on a comprehensive address that should hit most of the major concerns. Just a heads up.

No worries, they will allways be releasing the Patches, so no worry about the problems with B.net and editor, they will be fixed much faster with game patches when released. They can't wait more, the were making this game for four-five years, there are no serious issues, even if they are they can be easily fixed with patching.
And I think you're trolling.

TheTerran, actually, there ARE going to be semi-pro and pro leagues, they just won't be available immediately after release, sadly.
We will have a big patch probably around four months after we launch the game that will add a lot of things like Pro and Semi-Pro leagues and allow people to see who really is the best of the best.
Considering that they are saying this would show who is the "best of the best", I assume this means that it would not be split up into divisions like the current league system.

This interview was April 23rd, so I'm pretty sure it should be accurate. It also contains some other interesting information on how chat groups and the like work, should probably read it

You know the polls are pretty mixed. Bout half and half with a small edge for people who think they should just release the game and keep adding patches. That kinda surprises me...not a very one sided subject.

Anyway lets not flame the hell out of this. :p I suppose that will be all.

I will post no more because I need not feed the fire. I suggest that this thread get closed just for that reason regardless of any argument you people may have. G'day Gents!

Thanks for polling and posting (minus any flaming that occured).

Lol, learn its meaning first. I dont troll I post true facts that every person with a clue knows, it's not the same here.

The interview is very old and outdated compared to what news came after in May. Im not gonna discuss them cause they were too discussed already, just my few cents about what the ladder needs. Plus your link only suggests they would release expansion 18 months later, thus we should wait 1.5 years to get channels and teams coz they said they 'might' add around expansions. Even Reign of Chaos had channels haha

I will just stop discussing that at all, considering I started posting more than the needed... If there is no understanding here, I have people that are pretty much aware of what im talking about. Im tired of explaining and explaining and in other forums they even argue without knowing a thing, enough waste of my time. Im done talking about that..

Meh. Editor fixes will happen eventually. Clans will be added. The custom maps situation will fix itself once Blizzard realizes how the custom maps list will hardly change post-release, due to the popular maps remaining so. We'll eventually get our chat channels, since we are begging for it. The ladder ranking system is fine, too. Even the player handling system might be improved later so that the friends list isn't entirely RealID bullshit.

What worries me is region-locking. This WON'T fix itself. Unless you have more money than you could possibly spend, I don't see how you could buy four copies of the game just to play with the people you know. It's bad enough that everyone in the household has to have their own copy of the game to simply "LAN" it out, but region-locking is really extreme. I could only support region-locking if they made it so that we are able to download the game client for every region for free, so long as we own the full game in the first place, regardless of language. By full game, I mean the $60 game that is sold in stores, unlike the Russian pay-as-you-go optional scheme.

I might even be able to accept a system where the collector's edition of the game allows you to play in any region, or the buyer could spend $20 to unlock all regions, or something. It's better than dropping $180 to play with my Australian and European friends.

I personally think everyone in Austrailia should avoid the Australian/Asian version and just buy the US version. If everyone goes to the US servers, then there are no regions to worry about.

I still stand by my opinion that it should be pushed back until basic chat functionality can be added to BNet. An extra month would hurt nothing, and would improve reviews on release.

Agreed. The english community on those servers will be tiny compared to the asisan community.
Also, without game names, it will be impossible to tell if your going into a asian speaking game, or an english speaking one.
