I still think we should keep strength as a HM. It should ofcause be needed to proceed in the map, but there could also be "hidden" areas wich required you to make an advanced puzzle, by moving stones around in a right way, so that you can walk through the barrier. That would be alot harder, as you cant push two rocks at the same time. Some intresting things could be made there...

I dont know,, Strength is kinda useless in-game, But it is just Perfect for puzzles, as LoS says,,


But i got to bring an other subject up:
How is the interface of the Battle gonna be? (Choose attack, backpack, run or other pokemon)
1) Abilitys
2) Units (just select them)
3) Trackables
4) Give your own ideas,,
 
Well, how about we make it so that when you click on the 'Pokemon' ability (the one to change the pokemon), it comes up with a dialog box listing all your Pokemon with a cancel as the bottom one. If any button other than the cancel button is clicked, that counts as a turn.

As for abilities, the same could be done, except instead of having the different Pokemon names you would, of course, have the ability names with a cancel at the end.

The items could be the same as well, might be a bit awkward, but we could manage that I'm sure xD

Now, for how these abilities should be accessed. The Trainer should have a spellbook ability with all four abilities in there displaying your battle options (Attack, Pokemon, Item and Run). Each time you enter a battle, the spellbook is added to the Trainer, and after the battle the spellbook is removed. Easy done! :D

Well, that is actually what we had before ><,, a spellbook which holds all 4 choices,,
But i did not like it,, not at ALL!

But as for the other: A dialog to choose your Pokemon is ok,, better than what i had in mind xD
For the abilitys,, it now runs on 'casting' the item. Is that ok or will i need to change it, again?

For the backpack i just thought of like a huge BackPack system which involves trackables and such,, so when you click 'BackPack', you are transported to an other area which holds loads of trackables to have your items,,

These are all good ideas, but not what i meant,, Your last answer, though, was what i meant.

How to make your Choice?
I personally think a spellbook is stupid for this and ugly =\
I personally prefer units, or something like that, beause they are moveable (which trackables are not) and selectable,,

Remember that the 3D objects can use in-game textures, while the plane buttons have to use custom ones...

Well why don't you make it like in the game? Like:

Fight Bag
Pokémon Run

When you select Fight it opens up a move menu like:

Thunder Growl
Zap Cannon Leer
(This is just an example)

When you select Bag it opens up a inventory menu which is created by showing all of the useable items for battles like:

Pokéball
Potion
Hyber Potion
Iron
(This is just an example)
(This also means that instead of showing your bike, pokéflute, HM, TMs and so on. It will only show you the items which you are acterly allowed to use in battle)

When you select Pokémons it opens up a menu which are showing the Pokémons you got like:

Venusaur
Butterfree
Metapod
Rhyhorn
(This is just an example)
(This also means that if you only have less then 6 Pokémons it just dosen't show an "Empty" party button)

When you select Run you leave the battle.
(If the enemy Pokémon is higher leavel then yours, the chance of leaving the battle will get small and small the higher the enemy Pokémon is compared to your one)

This is what I think we should do. It pretty much like the normal game menu. Its just easyer to use this way...

Some nice models would be nice. What About buttons that hold the text? like:

You can use the QuestionMark texture for the text? Or maybe the one of the StartArea thing (the thing you do not see in-game but only in WE and indicates where your camera starts),,

Oh, and IF you could,, make an animation called 'Select' that i can play when selected,, the animation has to look like you 'push' the button ok? =D
 
Ok, I'll consider all the ideas and make what I think that is appealing, then you guys approve it or not.

yixx, that'll be the spell anim then. dont forget to queue stand after playing it.

EDIT: when you click, all the buttons disappear right? So it'll be death for the icons and for the clicked one, it'll be death alternate. Just add the tag 'alternate'.

Found these siting around in my computer, figured you guys might be able to find a use for them. There CnP icons from trainer cards, and the last one is a skin for the cannonball projectile. Works OK as a volotrb/electrode, pokeball projectile, and even an item. The correct path for it is Abilities/Weapons/BoatMissile/Dust2b.blp

If you want, I can change the animation names for the models, so you got Spell First, Spell Second, Spell Third, Spell Throw, Spell Slam, etc....
Even assign each to a set of abilities

You probably won't need that many, you'll probably be fine with attack and attack/spell slam. Maybe you could add a spell throw animation for attacks like solar beam and flamethrower, but I think that should be fine.

That would be freaking awsome, but if you have 3-D icons you should definatly still have text with them :D

This is a WIP for the Pokemon option. Uses only in-game textures.
Yixx, I think it'd be better as a trackable. Then, when the mouse hovers over it, it has that backshine and lights, so the player knows that he's supposed to click it.
The model is attached here. HFR, no poisonous reviews, I'm sick of it. xD

@67chrome: these icons are pretty good, we can use them, for sure. About the pokeball model, I'm gonna do one that fits our style and has some special features to look good. ;D

Is there any way possible that you do all buttons in one model, and do the different 'names' on the board with animations? Or were you gonna do a different thing for the Pokeball on every button?

@HC: Yes, i also like trackables, but when we need trackables, we need 4x6 trackables = 24. According to DSG, this does not lag the game, but if we are gonna do it multi-player, we need (with a max of 6 players) 4x6x6 = 144. This does lag the game which really sucks =\,,

A solution could be only 1 battle area in MultiPlayer, or a terrain generator. A trigger that changes the terrain of the area as we want it to be, but this would be soo big that i dont think we should use this.

So, yes trackables are a solution, but only at a maximum of 30.

Dont add any animation except for Stand,, since Trackables cant play any animations except for normal Stand animations. Trackables are sucky things, so they cant really do anything except for be created, and be detected. Cant move, cant destroy, cant play animations,, But if you feel like it, make those animations ;)

480x480 is Huge! =O 4 times bigger than 240x240. It'll take some time to terrain that. Don't forget to add secret bases!
 
@Cenvo: Why on earth would we include Secret Bases? I just can't figure out the purpose of adding them into an already complex map. Not to say people wouldn't want it in there, but if we did add them, what the hell would they actually do? Not a whole lot, I can tell you now. It'd just take up extra memory on your save file.

@Yixx: I wasn't sure if it was just me or what, but I hadn't heard anything on this forum for ages. This is a serious problem, we must keep our spam count up xD

Guys! I'm in italy tommorow, on holiday, and just after that, im will be in france. I might be able to check out the forums, if we get to a place with Wifi (PSP ftw :p), but won't be able to check up stuff.

I have been searcinh for the terrain map on my computer, but i can't find it. If it should be on my computer, it should be in the "temp" folder, because of the blue screen i got, but i don't see it there, so...

I am sorry. I MIGHT not be here in the next 5 weeks. Depends on stuff like how long we want to stay in france, if theres Wifi and such.

Hope you all have a nice holiday too!

As you can see, his family doesn't likes pokemon and LoS is out. So, the project's terrain is dead for now.

Wut? I know nothing about the layout and with my dial up, the uploading process of a 4 mb map will take hours. Also, right now I'm working for Mechanical Man.

TDHX lost the map (ok, his family did, but it was his family). So, TDHX makes the terrain again. It's the rules.

When the layout is done, it's my time to (finally) terrain this thing.

We are not gonna accuse anybody of losing the map, since that can happen to us all,,

I can finally got the map fixed again (It would not test due to me having patched to BETA probably), and now I can go on with the triggering, though i got test-week now, so i will probably not do much.

TDHX, can you start again? Or are you sick of starting a scratch terrain? If so, then i will assign someone else. HFR seems too lazy to, so LoS or Wazzz maybe can do it.

There is no map, that is the problem.
TDHX lost it, as seems (no offense man),, and LoS also (also no offense),,
The map i got is as far as terrain the exact same as the one that was in Pastebin with the newb-demo.
So the map has to be scratch-made, from UTM, in JNGP or any other program that supports 480x480 maps and more tiles than normal WE.

ughhh sorry guys

im going through alot of personal stuff in my life ( lol i almost got arrested )
and some of you know im working full blast on my own RPG demo ( the Dark CLoud )

and i cant seem to find the map on my computer, i dont know why, i figure my family deleted some shit on my computer cause they use my computer too. So im not sure, I probably have it some where, but not in a normal place.

And yixx ur right, its kind of hard terraining the base terrain ( because its very boring ) but i can deal with it.

hopefully ill find the map and continue on from there.

I even get rid OF A CONTEST just to have more time to edit this thing.

Now, after asking for the map OVER NINE THOUSAAAND times, I'm busy, as someone already employed me.

But I still can edit the map however (lots of free time).

And how you can trust in someone you doesn't even know his terrains? I mean, HC, show some pics.

Ok, from now on, this policy is getting harder. I want results, because this is not working out this way.

Terrain:
I want every 3 or 4 days an update on the terrain in form of any WIP or just a quick view in the map. When I see that nothing or almost nothing has happened, the next person gets the map. No excuses tolerated.

Models:
HC, you are currently still the only one on models, but i still do hope that is gonna change soon. Though you are the only, i still expect some results. In my opinion, a model can be done within a week, depending on size and such.

Triggering:
I know i am on triggering myself, but as i am no different than you guys, i also make rules for myself. I will keep you updated on how the triggering goes and any bugs/fixes that occur. Though triggering seems a little hard to make rules, I want you guys to tell me if I really do enough work on the triggering, or if I am lazy or such.

If anyone has any personal or school problem or things going on, i would like to know that, so i can take that in consideration when checking up on stuff. Just send me an PM or such.
I know that everybody has a lazy week sometimes and that we dont feel like terraining/modelling/triggering then, but they must also be compensated with weeks where you do some more work.

If you think i am being harsh, think twice, I dont want this project to die because we are losing progress or such. These rules are very flexible for i dont order you to do terrain or model, but i

support

you to do work by checking up on you.

I hope you guys will make me a proud guy and that in some time, we can all be proud of our map! =),,

the map is treated like something fucking secret by everyone in the team, and can only be given to "trust-worthy" people, i mean, what the fuck!?

okay here is the plan

ANYONE can terrain the map. ANYONE will fix up terrain that might be bad. But for terraining there are 3 SIMPLE RULES everyone must follow, if they terrain the map.

1) Do not use CLIFF tool. Use raise and lower to create the land and its height variation.
2) Do NOT use blizzard trees, please.
3) SCALE things please, make housees bigger, and trees more life sized, in accordance with a regular unit...for instance, dont have a 4 meter tree next to a regular hero...itll look stupid.

BtW , if your terraining isn;t that particularly good, i can edit it to look better and enhance its appearence, as long as terrain is getting done.

once again i apologize for my lack of participation recently with this map. sorry i really want to work on this map. but i cant help the fact that im busy latly.

He is manager of terrain, and decides how it happens and who works on it.

I got some bad news that you guys wont like.

I downloaded the BETA patch quite some time ago, and i openly use it's new features.
That means also new code snippets, like GetHandleId() and hashtable.
Now since you guys probably dont have the BETA patch, you wont be able to play it.

As soon as the open Patch comes out (the non-BETA), you will be able to play again,
But for now, only the ones of you who got the BETA patch are able to,,

OMG, I'm still at 1.22...

TDHX, agreed, however, there are some blizzard trees that can really work if used correctly, like the Sunken Ruins and Barrens trees. I used then at Septimus campaign and it worked perfectly alongside with other palm trees.
